My child loved this pizza so much that I had to rate it 5/5. We got a thin crust pepperoni pizza

Came here because I was at a dentist office nearby. I got the Louisiana slice since the lady at counter said it had Cajun chicken on it and my daughter ordered 16 piece mild wings. There were only two small booths both being occupied, so we planned to eat it to go. I didn't mind because the place looked dirty from the snow. My slice was done before the wings, maybe they should have timed it better because the cheese had no pull by the time I ate my slice. The chicken pieces were cubed too small, and tasted less like Cajun and more like salt. I was hoping for a hint of spice but this slice had absolutely no kick. I tried some of my daughter's wings, maybe they over cooked it, because the chicken was super dry. It's disappointing when your wings aren't juicy. I'd never come back here again. read more

I had a conversation on Thursday 07/03 @ 7:20pm with the rudest female manager there. Online they have promo codes- and a website that encourages ppl to use it- as opposed to calling in orders. When calling to confirm my order I was greeted by a lovely associate who was very wanting of an accommodation and understanding. She tried her best to help which I understand some accommodation cannot be met. Which I was fine with. The lovely associate then brought management to advise with some of my questions. She was absolutely rude- told me she couldn't change state tax when coupon on their website said FREE with 29.99 purchase. I offered to pay the tax in return for the wings as my order was WELL OVER the 29.99 amount. She then proceeded to call the cooks name and tell him nvm and to stop making my order at which time I stated I wanted her to cancel my order. I am extremely glad I did NOT pay with my card- like she thought I did. I am very disappointed- I have catered this place for a company before and will NEVER use them or refer ppl to them. Very disappointed. Pt.2- 07/15 @ 3.16 I received a call from an assistant manager that knows my name but refused to give me hers (assuming from my yelp review, bc the google one didn't get their attention) - and I spoke with a lady who is in school to become a lawyer. I stated that I was going to record the call for my own personal reasons- at which time someone who is IN SCHOOL to be a lawyer decided to chime in that CT is a double consent state it would be and that it would be inadmissible in court. I cut the recording as Apple lets you know when recording begins and when it ends. So she heard it. She proceeded to tell me that my order wasn't over the $29.99 and that's why I could not receive the wings which it was - when I ordered an XL pizza with pepperoni ($25.18) & lunch pasta penne allá vodka ($13.24). In school where I went that equals $38.42 is greater than $29.99. At that point the person I spoke to told me I need to cut my attitude, which I didn't have but they were both extremely hostile so I decided to end the call. Per the response to review they are stating that bc the coupon wasn't added it wasn't able to be honored. Which is the reason I called the store in the first place to be sure that it would/ wouldn't be honored bc I did add it online but only 1 promo code came up not 2 when i received my order confirmation. The whole purpose of my original call was to ensure both promo codes were received the $2 off (can use with other codes it' saids it in the fine print) as well as the 5 wings were received. If it wasn't that would have been fine- I called for clarification and they were rude mean and nasty. NEVER once on any of the phone calls did anyone mention it was outside of the delivery range which would have been totally fine we would have picked it up- And paid the cash with the "wings ct state tax". This is all around TERRIBLE service and do not recommend. The "managers" are rude and can dish it but can't take it. WORST COMPANY BY FAR- VAZZYS 4L I see why VAZZYS is voted #1. read more

I miss their Trumbull location, but their Shelton location on Bridgeport Ave still cooks up some of the best pizza and grinders around. Reasonably priced offerings with daily/weekly specials. For Valentines Day they are offering a special "heart shaped" pizza (available through 2/21). I ordered one with eggplant topping and it didn't disappoint. Like my pizza...love my Gioves! read more

Place a pick up order and when I got home I discovered the order was wrong. I called the store and the manager said because we left the store we accepted the order and there would be no refund. I didn't know I had to check my order before leaving as it was sealed in a bag. The food is mediocre at best and with all the competition in the area it's a shame they can't be more accommodating. My first order from Giove's wasn't good, 10 months back when we had first moved to Shelton. We don't eat cheese and always ask for everything without. Instead, everything came covered in cheese. Fast forward to today, Coronavirus running rampant and restaurants are restricted to takeout only. I have two school aged kids, kindergarten and 2nd grade, and a 20 month old. Needless to say, my days are long af and we've been ordering a lot of takeout. I asked my husband to handle ordering tonight while I did a project with the older two. Unfortunately, he chose Giove's. Everything arrived, once again, with complete disregard for our notes that specify no cheese. The pizza AND the sandwich. I blew my top and tried to remove the cheese since 1930 is basically bedtime and the thought of keeping them up late for them to remake our order was imaginably revolting. So I tried. And failed. To remove the cheese. Luckily our kids rolled with it and told me it was fine (but it's sort of shameful to be comforted by your 6 and 8 year olds). All in all, we will not be back. Called and Emily refused to honor the coupon The price has gotten ridiculousy expensive and with poor customer service I will never order from there again...there are plenty of great pizza places around the Trumbull/Shelton area with great pies and better customer service. I got a menu with coupons in the mail so I decided to give them a try. I ordered a large pizza half pepperoni and half pineapple, jalapeño poppers and free garlic bread with our purchase. The pizza came and the toppings were all the box, it was soggy and very bland. The jalapeño poppers came soggy and were soggy even after trying to warm them up in the oven. The bread came very dry and dipping sauce very bland. I paid almost 40$ for everything with delivery and tip. To spend that much money on delivery for pizza and one appetizer is insane especially for the food to suck. read more

We've been ordering from Giove's for years but with so many local pizza places, it's hard to be faithful to just one. In our family of 4, we'd probably each choose a different favorite. That being said, tonight's order was fantastic. The crust was just right. The mashed potato pizza was the best I've ever tasted. The chicken bacon ranch was also very good. And a traditional red pie with meatballs and mushrooms was delicious (although not fresh mushrooms). The option for an XL pie for just a few dollars more is always worth it. First impressions are everything. I ordered through a food service app for this and I was never informed my food was ready so I'm sure it was sitting there for awhile. The margarita pizza was ok. Flavor wasn't bad but nothing spectacular. The breadsticks though....I'm not sure why they're called "famous". They were probably the worst breadsticks I've ever had. Completely flavorless. It tasted like they just flavored it with salt on top and called it a day. The marinara they served with it was just as bad. Definitely will not be back unfortunately read more

AMAZING! Not five stars but ten!!! I ordered a grilled veggie salad and my husband ordered the same but with grilled chicken. First off the staff is SO nice. Anna is very sweet and just a nice person, she seems like she likes her job. The restaurant itself is very cute. Easy to get to with plenty of parking. GIOVE'S HANDS DOWN HAS THE BEST DINNER SALAD IN TOWN! It was HUGE. Not only was it huge but the amount of grilled veggies was endless, and man did they have a great flavor! Included in dinner was a side of bread, which was so fresh and flavorful. The amount of chicken on my husband's salad was huge. It was grilled to perfection. Everything about our dinner was fabulous. The menu is a lot more than I thought it was. My husband also had one slice of plain cheese. It's clear they use the good mozz, fresh crust and yummy sauce. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE REGULARS HERE! I give this place 4 solid stars, because they can use a few more seats and they should can use fountain drinks. I know its mainly take out and delivery. My mom been saying for years that she loves their pizza but I thought it was just another strip center fast serve pizza place which was close enough to her home to make the convenience over shadow the quality . Well, I was wrong. The menu looked delicious and it smelled great inside, but I was there for the pie. Before going I was happy to read they have some gluten free pizza and pasta. I read the other reviews and they were all positive and now so is mine. So with that said, the pizza was great and fresh. I didn't know I was eating gluten free at all. It comes in one size and for one person it will fill you up and even have some to take home. Bravo my friends, I will see you all soon for more pizza and other things. read more

Giove's is a decent hole-in-the-wall pizza joint in downtown Shelton. The pizza is very good (boardwalk-style), the grinders are decent, and the pasta is not really worth having. The service is quick if you are doing pick-up or ordering there. Delivery is a bit slow, but the food arrives hot. The place has about 3 chairs, so do not plan to eat in with a group. Fine for grabbing a bite during a lunch break at work, though. read more

My kids used to love the Tex-mex pizza (only place around that offered it), I like their cheese pizza...I'd ordered a specially made thick crust pizza, but now things are definetly NOT up to par. I have scaled back drastically from getting food from here..to the point of desperation! (NO other options available.) Last delivered orders: grinders were burnt (BLACK), pasta was thrown together, delivery time was VERY long, & when I called to speak about the issues, & was told: "well if you want to BRING the food back we'll re-make it for you?" Please tell me whose brain-child this concept was: We ordered an Italian combo type wedge and it's placed in the same container are the side of fries. Pasta dishes are less than zero. We ordered one dish with marinara, and one with a butter sauce. The marinara was like tomato paste out of the can, plus a full container of salt. The other was unsalted butter over spaghetti. Pasta was crunchy. No cheese for either. Chef Boyardee, is an upgrade from pasta dishes served here. Be kind to yourself. At least four kinds of crust, six or more sauces, tons of well priced toppings and three sizes. A New Yorker, I ordered thin, extra fresh mozzarella. Absolutely great. Red sauce amazing, great quality cheese, cooked to order. The garlic knots were the best I've had in three counties here. Six, hot fresh and garlic to die for. This was Shelton location. Not only did they forget the dressing and the side of marinara sauce, the tried to cover up the rotten avocado that they put in my salad with the other salad fixings. DO NOT buy a salad from them. I'd give less than half a star if I was able to... Plain and simple, this place sucks. I've been here numerous times since I work down the road. The bridge troll who works at the front counter is a huge C U Next Tuesday. When you call in an order or simply walk in the door, you can see the anger in her eyes that she has to stand up and work for two minutes. During my last (and final) visit, I learned that asking for a slice of pizza is essentially ordering a slice of cheese pizza with uncooked toppings added on. Maybe if the food was edible it would make up for the "service" but there's nothing positive I can say about this dump. I'm shocked this place made it passed this first year. read more
