Our closest pizza place went out of business, so we decided to try some other local pizzerias. Saw some good reviews for Giuseppi's and it has been in Kentlands for twenty years, we figured it had to be good. The staff was friendly enough, but that's about the only good thing I can say. The pizza was quite possibly the worst pizza I have ever eaten, no exaggeration. Dough was bland and cooked unevenly; I think the cardboard box would have had more flavor. There was very little tomato sauce, and what was on there was burnt. Cheese was just sort of glopped on. We ordered the vegetarian pizza; the veggies tasted like they came from a can: soggy mushrooms, limp peppers. I had been to the Rockville location for the 2 slices of pizza & drink deal when I've worked over there. I went one time on a Saturday night when I was doing my side job of rideshare. A underwhelming pizza place with a good variety of foods. I ordered a 16 inch cheese pizza from this place. The order was still warm when I picked it up, which is great. However, the pizza, overall, is quite bland. It seemed like they didn't put enough marinara sauce and so there wasn't much saltiness or overall flavor. Stopped by here with my girlfriend on a Sunday afternoon, it wasn't busy at all. We ordered 2 salads one was grilled chicken the other was steak. Those are some of the best salads ever! Been coming here for a long time. Only reason I go is for their 2 slices of pizza and soda for $4.50. What a great deal for lunch/dinner. Sometimes they put a lot of cheese on their pizzas so it tends to be greasy - depends on the pizza guy, but it's not like your eating healthy when eating pizza! If you go to Panera and get a sandwich and drink it will cost you around $10. I also like their buffalo wings (no buffalo wing sauce) and fries. read more

I almost always get their pizza special which is 2 slices of pizza and a large drink. They have fresh garlic as a topping, which is something I've never really seen at another pizza place, so that sets it apart as unique in my mind. And their sauce is amazing. I remember going to Giuseppi's in Rockville when they opened over 30 years ago (in a shopping center with Magruders). I was a kid then and enjoyed that pizza with my family often. Kentlands is the closest location to me now, and I go from time to time. When I do, I am always pleased with the pizza I enjoy that reminds me of the flavors I loved when I was a kid. One of my favorite toppings back then was meatball. It's not easy to get good meatball topping on pizza (when you live in an area monopolized my corporate pizza chains) and decades later I can go to Giuseppi's and enjoy those same flavors. I have always liked the crust and style of the pizzas. The staff have always been friendly. There is nothing fancy about the place, but that's not what I'm looking for. I can call in my order and pick it up in 20 minutes. I've had the sandwiches over the years, but it's that pizza that calls me. I have other pizza spots closer to me that deliver . . . but if I'm down to drive 25 minutes round trip to get Giuseppi's, that's a compliment to them. read more

Our first time trying Giuseppi's, we ordered a large pepperoni pizza for take out. The place was busy, seemed like post people do take out. The service was quick and efficient, and pretty much the only reason they get two stars. The pizza itself was very mediocre. The dough was too thick and seemed undercooked in the middle. The sauce was very bland and flavorless. There was an overwhelming amount of cheese, to the point that cheese was the dominant flavor. Save your money and just order from pizza hut or dominos, it will be a better experience. We are usually people who will eat the leftovers of a pizza until every last scrap is done, this pizza was half left and ended up in the trash. read more

Then, I asked a man putting together pizza boxes if there's a separate line for online orders. He mumbled something and pointed to the only cashier who was taking care of walk-in customers. Our new go-to neighborhood pizza place. The cheese pizza is terrific. The crust tastes fresh and homemade, foldable and slightly chewy. I find the sauce a little bland, and remedy this by sprinkling my slice with red pepper flakes. The white pizza is also very good, flavorful without being too oily. The Grilled Chicken Salad is wonderful. The combination of grilled chicken, shaved mozzarella and plenty of caramelized onions is delicious- get the Italian dressing. It's my new favorite salad. The delivery hours are limited and hard to figure out - I wish they had a larger delivery window for when I just want delicious pizza delivered to my door! read more

We have been ordering pizza here for more than 10 years - but lately the quality has gone way downhill. We usually get takeout. The pizza is very inconsistent from one visit to the next. Several times the pizza has been very underbaked and of course, we don't know that until we get home and it's too late to get them to fix it. On Tuesday we ordered a large and a medium pizza. The dough was basically raw in the middle of the large. It was awful. We had to bake it a second time at home just to eat it. There is also a frequent issue with no salt in the crust, which makes the crust tasteless. I think they need to retrain the entire staff! read more

I came around 2 noon few days ago and as soon as walked in, their was this staff woman txting on her phone while standing on the cashier and stared at me as I walked in and then walked at the back without saying hello or smiled. Even if she wasn't the cashier, she could have greeted me and call the cashier to help me. Two guys were cleaning tables and one stared at without saying hello or asked if I needed any help. I was the only customer there and no one acknowledged my presence. UPDATE: Nearly 7 months after the incident outlined below, the stolen item was returned to me and my daughter by a manager at Giuseppi's. He found it in the possession of one of their employees, who was promptly fired by one of the owners the following day. Sadly, the other owner who is normally at this location and chose to defend his staff / yell at my wife for insinuating that one of his staff was behind the theft hasn't even bothered to offer an apology. Props to the manager for doing the right thing and going above and beyond to contact us and return the stolen iPad. And thanks to the other owners who spend most of their time at the Rockville location for being stand-up people and caring about their customers. ORIGINAL REVIEW: BEWARE OF THIEVES OPERATING OUT OF THIS RESTAURANT!!! I used to be a big fan of Giuseppi's as a little hole-in-the wall with decent pizza, but not any more. While eating there recently, my 7 year old daughter had her iPad stolen by thieves, possibly employees of the restaurant. Customers need to beware, especially since the owner doesn't seem to care and their video security cameras are illegally turned off. While waiting for their pizza to be ready, my wife and two younger children were entertaining themselves trying to play some video games. There was barely anyone in the restaurant, and my daughter put down her iPad on the table next to the game, only to find it gone when she turned back around. Not only did the restaurant staff not care, but they refused to allow the Montgomery County police department to look behind the counter or in the back room to ensure that no one had stashed it there! They also told the police that they knew that the security cameras were inoperable... To add insult to the situation, when my wife returned the next day to share news of the incident with the restaurant's owner, he yelled at her for even insinuating that one of his staff might have been involved in the theft. What a way to treat a long-time customer! I'm not normally one to write reviews, especially bad ones, but I'd suggest that anyone who is worried about their safety and security stay away from Giuseppe's Pizza Plus. The owner and staff obviously don't care about what happens to their patrons, and may even be involved themselves. They seem content to allow the place to turn into a den of thieves. read more

The pizza is New York style with a crispy bottom and crust, adequate marinara sauce, and gooey cheese. There is little flavor to the pizza which is why it is paramount to add the salt, garlic, Parmesan, and oregano to give it any modicum of taste. I wish more people would review this joint who actually got a whole pizza fresh from the oven. I think some people are reviewing after eating the two slice special. While this is a good value, you are not getting the real taste unless you are lucky enough to have gotten the slices from a freshly cooked pie (even then, the toppings will be added after the pie is already cooked, so it's not the same). Pizza is only good fresh from the oven, or cold the next day while nursing a hangover. Okay, so here is a review of the pizza I got when I ordered and ate there while it was fresh. The first time I had a pizza here, I got a plain cheese to satisfy my wife and daughter. I wasn't expecting much from a boring cheese pizza, but I was pleasantly surprised. The pizza was perfect from the perspective of an Americanized Italian from New York. It was just like the pizzas I used to get as a kid in NY. The crust was crisp on the bottom but tender closer to the cheese. This is hard to pull off without either making the crust too thick and doughy or too thin and subject to burnt spots. The sauce was just the right consistency and there was enough of it to taste great, but not so much to make it sloppy. It was spiced correctly, but if you like more zing, they have plenty of red pepper shakers, oregano and parm to make it appeal to individual tastes. I've been to dozens of fancy pizza joints with high dollar wood, coal, and probably nuclear fired ovens. But the pizzas that come out of the ovens here are better. With a really hot oven, you almost always get some burnt crust, but these ovens (the same type I remember from the standard NY pizza parlors), seem to control the heat better. In my subsequent visits (I go once every 1-2 weeks) almost every pie had the same beautifully cooked crust. Add the fact that they don't skimp on the mozzarella, which seems to be pretty good quality, and you have a damn near perfect pie. I have been back quite a few times, and I've had many of the toppings, which are all good and plentiful. But it seems to me like I'm masking what is an almost perfect cheese pizza. So for a change up, I'll get a meatball pie, or a Greek pizza, or pepperoni which are all great, but my favorite is still that perfect plain cheese pizza. Now I haven't tried many other items on the menu, but the chicken and greek salads are really good. They use freshly grilled chicken and the chicken salad comes with grilled onions, which are nicely caramelized. Since I love feta, I usually get the Greek chicken salad and ask them to grill the onions. So now that I've made myself hungry thinking about pizza, I'm probably going to hit Giuseppi's up tomorrow night. Look, if you've ever had New York style pizza, or any decent pizza in your life, then you will want to avoid this place at all costs. I have no idea what the others are talking about. I got a half plain half speciality pizza, so they had the double the opportunity to impress me. While the pizza LOOKED good, I have never had anything so flavorless in my life. The tomato sauce tastes almost watered down because it had no zest. Each time I took a bite, I wanted to take another only because I had a small taste of tomato and wanted more. But it was never enough; it was like drinking salt water. The crust almost seemed like it was perfectly done, golden brown with a hint of charring. The tragedy was that the bread, as the sauce, had absolutely no flavor. I have had all types of bread from around the world, but I couldn't find a culture that would pass this off as a bread of their cuisine. It had no flavor, therefore, it had no use. And the cheese, or whatever that was. The cheese is supposed to have a little saltiness to it. Oh, and flavor would be nice. But I ate the pizza and didn't even know it existed. It is the only time where "bland as bread" is not an appropriate phrase because the cheese, somehow, was blander than the bread. The specialty had no flavor either, even though it had 4 ingredients. The only thing that stuck out was the imported ham, which was good. In summary, if you want to have delicious ham, there are more efficient and cheaper ways to eat it. I am new to the area and Giuseppi's pizza has truly been a go to five star carry out for us, their pizza has always been delicious and their delivery time was always on time, however yesterday I brought a 12" pepperoni pizza not sure if they switched bakers that hour, the pizza was awful the crust was unusually thick it was an over load of cheese and the pepperonis could be counted on one hand, I think it was meant to be a cheese pizza. read more

I ate here a week ago and had a miserable experience. The pizza was mediocre; comparable to your Sbarro's, but I opted for the calzone on this particular occasion. Now I haven't been to Italy or anything, but it's my understanding that calzones have a semi-circular shape to facilitate being able to pick it up and dip it into the marinara sauce while you're eating it. You can imagine my surprise, when upon opening the box, I see a circle looking at me. How am I supposed to eat a circular calzone? Whatever, I cut it up and start dipping it and the first bite or two was not too bad. They advertise that ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan go into every calzone, well I didn't taste a single bite of ricotta throughout the meal, just overwhelming mozzarella. As I continued eating my circular calzone, it began to 'deflate' and sort of ooze oil until a thin film of it was lubricating the bottom of the box it came in. This was enough to gross me out and I had quite lost my appetite at this point. I threw away the calzone after eating roughly 1/4th of it. In short, the pizza is mediocre and nothing special, and the calzone is revolting garbage. Avoid if possible. read more

This is the worst pizza that I have eaten in my entire life. The crust wasn't fully cooked and was gummy in between the part that hits the oven and the tomato sauce. The sauce incidentally wad pure tomato paste with no seasoning and the cheese wasn't real mozzarella. This pizza had absolutely no flavor and tasted in no way like a NYC pizza pie. Giuseppi's used to be my goto for pizza and especially the curly fries. It's a shame to say, I will not be revisiting. I ordered two slices of Hawaiian and two slices of mushroom/green peppers. The Hawaiian was missing pineapples and the mushroom/green peppers were never cooked. I then received 4 slices of burnt dough(I couldn't even fold in half), dried up tomato sauce, and plastic cheese that looked like it had been nuked. What made my experience even worse, I watched the guy pick off the burnt pieces with his bare hands. All in all, I question if Giuseppi's passion for pizza is truly there. If the restaurant was truly family operated, I would have never been served pizza like I did today. read more
