This coffee is exceptional. The vibe and the people behind the counter are all friendly cool college aged people who really understand the small business culture, where customer service rules the day. We get our coffee delivered from the Puerto Rico coffee company in NYC and this coffee really competes aggressively with many of their roasts, and, while both of these are amazing, Giv is notches above Berkshire Coffee Co, and just slightly better than Stumptown offered locally at Bantam's "A Mano." I'm still hoping for Sunday and late night hours to 9pm. I might have to work there myself to make it happen. I am okay with getting paid in bags of coffee. read more

Love, love, love! I visit Giv at least once a week as it's a fair distance from my house. I usually go on Thursday's to stock up on some bags of fresh roasted beans. I love their cappuccino as well--such a treat. The workers are kind and helpful and the atmosphere is so cozy and laid back. I like bringing my 3 young kids along with me--we enjoy sitting outside at the picnic table when the weather is warm! This is by far my favorite coffee shop. read more

This was the second time I visited the cafe. Wonderfully kind and passionate coffee people, nice environment and coffee was delicious. I have to give it a less than stellar review though because this was the second time I wanted a little something to eat, like a pastry with my coffee, and there was none. Empty display cases. Also, I had my coffee there and I was given a to go cup. I sure would like the place to be a bit more environmentally friendly. However, I want to be clear about one thing- The coffee was great, so, despite my suggested improvements, ill be back sometime. It just won't be a go to place for me. read more

I've tried Giv a few times because I always want to give it another chance but each time it fails to be a great experience. I asked if they had an item and was condescendingly told they hadn't carried that in months. My latte did not have the flavored syrup that I asked for and the coffee tasted bitter. I was looking forward to a waffle; but the sugar was caked on and clumpy. For $9 I expect more. read more

This is the best coffee I have had in the history of ever. I wish I could GIV more stars! :) My husband and I enjoy everything they offer: hot and cold coffee beverages, pastries and their ground coffee beans. Every. Single. Thing...we have had has been a flavor party. The coffee is perfectly made and has no chemical tastes or flavors. It's never burnt and is always absolutely delicious. The folks who work there have always been super nice. Oh! And I can't forget, you can buy a local milk there that they also use in their coffee. The milk is wonderful as well. A great addition to the coffee shop scene that is seriously lacking in this area! I enjoy a delicious cold brew here yesterday - tasted great and was just the right amount of strong. The atmosphere is light, airy, and has some comfy chairs with soft music playing in the background. The two people working were friendly and seemed happy to be working there. They did have a few pastries including a few donuts from Tastease, but I didn't try anything this time. Great place to grab a coffee, chat with friends, or relax solo. I really enjoyed Giv Coffee and I'm glad I happened to stumble upon it. It's located on the lower level of what used to be a house and they roast their own coffee right inside. The inside is a tad small - they have a few tables and 2 comfy chairs to sit in if you want to hang out and sip your coffee. I got a regular cup of coffee which was delicious and they helped me pick which one based on my flavor preferences and my husband got a pour over which he very much enjoyed! They do have a small selection of baked goods on the counter as well as different kinds of 'pies.' From what I heard the guy tell another person they are like a pocket of sorts - they had both breakfast and savory ones however we did not try these. Overall we really enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back! read more

Love this place!! The coffee is fresh and they have an amazing variety of coffee which you can not find anywhere else. The staff is very friendly and they are very knowledgable of what they are selling. You can go in there and get great coffee (much better than any name brand coffee chain) and not spend a lot. I alway enjoy coming here. The only negative critique I can make about GIV Coffee is they are not open on Sundays. However I do understand everyone deserves to have Sunday off. I'm a former bean roaster and latte art competitor, and until I stepped into Giv Coffee I found ct lacking in any coffee shop worthy of even calling itself a coffee shop. In a state littered with DD's, Sbux , and mediocre "coffee" shops Giv Coffee stands as a shining light! The espresso at Giv coffee is the best I've had in Ct and is even served with a small glass of sparkling water, which of course is a perfect side note. Instead of the burnt bitter taste that most folks might think of when they recall an espresso experience, Giv coffee produces a rich creamy espresso with delicious notes of fruit and chocolate. The staff is super polite, and unlike most coffee shops actually seem to be genuinely happy to answer questions and serve customers. I should also mention that their whole bean coffee( roasted on site) is epic! Not only do they purchase their beans fairtrade, a portion of all beans sales go to helping folks in need. I believe I was told it was 2$ per sale. If you want to know what good coffee is supposed to taste like I recommend you hit up Giv coffee! read more

I kept missing my chance to visit this new coffee shop/roaster for a few weeks. Then finally my chance came around the end of winter! I agreed to meet a friend here on a chilly morning when the snow was turning to slush. First off, the parking lot is small. Especially if you have a large vehicle like mine. It looks like an everyday house on the outside. Upon entering you smell the freshly roasted coffee and the new aesthetic now becoming common to restaurants and shops. Rustic, repurposed, exposed wood and lighting. It creates a very homey appeal. Seat cushions that appear to be stitched by hand. The coffee is fresh, roasted just right, and accompaniments offered are equally fresh. The only complaint I had is that it is not a family friendly place for anyone with small children. The seating is close and any noise level would be overwhelming. While I was there a woman was there with several under five children. They were trying to play, run around, and it was loud compared to the rest of the setting. When I tried to exit my seat her kids blocked me and it was tight trying to exit. All in all, the coffee and baked goods were spot on and I would come back for them. I would not recommend anyone with small children visit with intent to sit, you may not be well liked. read more
