Do not go here for repairs! This place damaged my jewelry - permanently ruining one piece (pictured). Today, I picked up three pieces of jewelry I dropped off for cleaning, misc repairs, and an engraving. All three items were returned with visible dirt and damage. One of my gold coin necklaces, which needed a simple adhesive repair, is severely warped and permanently scratched up by a jeweler who was trying to do the repair too fast and did it very carelessly. A bracelet I dropped off for engraving was returned with a 90 degree bend in one of the gold links, plus the engraving was done the wrong way so now the clasp + links need to be swapped. I now need to get the bent link fortified as it's been weakened by the jeweler bending it (what the hell)! My other gold pendant was returned with a scrap of metal sticking up in the back so it pulled the fabric on my clothing and scratched my skin. Outrageous. No one checked my jewelry to see these mistakes before packing it up to return it. I have since had to consult two additional jewelers for quotes based on the damage done by this shop and will be seeking compensation from the jeweler as the pictured gold coin is permanently damaged and now needs extensive repair work or to be melted down. Save yourself the heartache. Do not bring your repairs here :( read more

I dropped off a necklace for a simple repair. It took three weeks for them to repair it and return it. I was informed three times that it would be repaired by a certain date and all three times the chain was not ready. I finally asked them to return it to me un repaired and I was informed the chain wasn't even in the shop. I had to wait another week for them to return it to me. My antique wedding ring had to be cut off my finger, as age/arthritis made it too tight. The first jeweler I visited wanted a fortune to add gold and resize and repair it, more, in fact, then the value of the ring. I brought it in to Given Gold, and Dan gave me an astoundingly reasonable estimate. He also called to let me know one of the (tiny) diamonds was missing, and he could replace it -- again for a very reasonable price. Two orders of business: 1) fix broken silver chain, and 2) fix watch. Neither happened. The chain was deemed "unworthy" of fixing because it was "cheap" (although the owner then tried to purchase it from me for $ .50... hmmm, why would you want to buy a worthless chain???) Somehow I was talked into buying a new chain from them - ahem, I mean, from a catalog they had under the desk. I could've gotten one for less (money and hassle) online, which is what I should've done. It took 2 weeks. The first time the chain came in, it was the wrong length. They had to re-order it. Very frustrating. The watch situation was even worse. There's no one on site who fixes watches (but... aren't you a jeweler??), so you have to wait for the guy to come in. Which is apparently once a week. And then he has to get to your watch. And then he has to decide what's wrong with it. And then he has to tell you how much he's going to charge to fix it (WAY. TOO. MUCH.) Go anywhere else. Save time & money. The End. read more

Another week has gone by and still no ring. On October 25 I took my ring in to be sized and to replace a missing stone. There have been excuses first that the stones that were found were the wrong color. Now the right color was found, but the stone was too big. OK.... So, Dan sent the ring to New York to be fixed. But, now the ring has come up missing. How do I know? Because I went to the store or I called Dan to ask, not because Dan contacted me. Dan has said several times that he would call me, he never has. I took a ring in to be repaired in late October - resize the band and replace a missing stone. The band has been resized, but the stone has yet to be replaced. There's always an excuse - the color of the stone is wrong to match the other stones and now the stone is the right color, but the stone is too big and needs to be cut down. Will I ever get my ring back? They are not keeping me up to date on what's going on. The only way for me to find out is for me to go in or to call.
