Nic responded the following day, and we scheduled a consultation for Wednesday between 10-12. I took the morning off work and was genuinely excited to finally have some answers about what was happening with our system. As I had told Nic, this has been a very stressful time for me. Understanding how hot it has been, I even had cold drinks and snacks ready for the technicians. I was genuinely looking forward to getting some answers and hopefully some peace of mind. No one arrived during our scheduled time. I called, but no one answered. After my first call, all subsequent calls went directly to voicemail. I called Cold Cloud Mechanical today based on their excellent Yelp rating for two issues: a…read moresuspected freon leak in my living room mini split, and water leaking from my son's bedroom unit after about 20 minutes of use. Technician Arsen handled the bedroom unit well. He found the drain hose was clogged and mounted too low, cleaned it out, adjusted the mounting height, and confirmed it drained properly over a 2-hour test. The living room unit is where I'm disappointed. A technician from my home warranty company had already confirmed the unit, less than a year old, was completely empty of freon. Arsen couldn't initially find the leak and charged me to vacuum and recharge the system, with no warranty since the source was unconfirmed. During that process, he found the actual leak in a copper line under the house. Once identified, he refused to go into the crawl space to fix it and said no one else at the company could either. That doesn't add up: just months ago, five workers from another company spent a full week under the house for a seismic retrofit, moving freely through the entire crawl space without issue, including the area where this leak is now located. I offered to pay extra for him or anyone else to complete the repair and was still turned down. Instead, he recommended replacing the entire unit for $5,000, which doesn't make sense for a nearly-new system with one identified leak point. I'm now out the cost of a recharge that didn't fix anything and came with no warranty, and I still have to find another company willing to go under the house and finish the repair Arsen already diagnosed. I appreciate the diagnostic work, but a company that installs mini splits should have someone who can access a crawl space to tighten a fitting. Choosing an upsell over a specific, identified fix is why I can't rate this higher. Update: The owner, Alex B., responded to this review quickly and personally came out to fix the leak. He accessed the crawl space without any issue, repaired the fitting in a few minutes, vacuumed and recharged the system, and tested it to confirm stable freon levels and cold air output. It's a straightforward fix, which makes it more frustrating it wasn't handled this way from the start, but I appreciate the owner stepping in directly to make it right. Updating to 5 stars for the responsiveness and quality of the resolution.

Ended up paying $1,300 to replace a transformer, capacitor and fuse and to hose the outside unit down with water. Also wanted to charge almost $500 to "chemical wash" the unit, which is something I know you can do yourself pretty easily. I know most places charge the same but it all feels so much like a scam when these parts are all no more than $40-$50 each max. When booking I also go left on read when messaging via Yelp and had to call 2 hours later for them to actually book and send a confirmation. Then they said the tech would text 30 minutes before arrival and they did not, and when I told them I was expecting a text heads up they said they "didn't receive these instructions".

From the initial consultation through installation, Menooa and his team were professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. They also enlarged one of my return air vents to meet the higher airflow needs of the new HVAC system. The work required widening the opening in the ceiling and installing a new return grille. The crew handled it neatly and professionally. When they finished, it looked like new. I paid $11,000 for a job that really is substandard. 1. Danny came to do my quote and was very nice, but when actual installation came he was not onsite. A very young and inexperienced guy installed the units basically in the middle of the wall. I was not consulted asked before the guy tore huge fist size holes in my wall that are in no way standard placement for mini splits. The guy moved the unit, I had to pay for the walls to be repaired and repainted! 2. The condenser was placed on the ground in the driveway. Again--I was never consulted about where it was to be installed. It should have been installed on the side of the house--it limits the function of my driveway forever. I cannot get my recycling/trash out if I am parked in my own driveway. 3. The drains that were placed on the outer wall of my house were installed so poorly that they constantly fall off. They were not adhered at all. When I put them back up, they are fitted so shoddily that they cannot be secured. Every time I pick them up and try to reassemble them--I can see how jankily they were put together. One of them is now cracked and water is spewing all over my wall. For nearly $11K spent, I feel really taken advantage of and bad about the integrity of their work. I contacted them in advance of this review with all of these points--they never responded.

Our technician named "Art" came over and very quickly deduced our problem with our tripping…read moreevaporator moisture safety valve was due to a piece of paper plugging one of the moisture outlets. The paper was probably there since the evaporator was installed by another company five years ago. Art also took our air handler blower apart and cleaned it while bringing the refrigerant level up to snuff (it was a tad low). The unit now has much better airflow, is quieter in operation, is more efficient, and keeps the house cooler at a reasonable cost. Thank you Art and Big H&A.
