We drove up in shite weather, non prime time and the place was empty for lunch. Rustic decor, with lots of old throwback items incorporated into the decor. Wife had the schnitzel, I had the reuben, we both shared the roesti and washed it all down with some new glarus. What could possibly be more Wisconsin than that? Delicious from start to finish, we will def be back for more.

Lunch is pretty quick. Two of us had fish (Friday), one a traditional European dish, and another a pork sandwich. Only one of us opted to upgrade a side to the restaurant's specialty: Roesti. The Roesti was a very generous portion, so he allowed us all to try a bite if we wanted. Roesti is similar to hashbrowns, but 100% improved due to loads of Swiss cheese embedded within. I believe I may order this for my entire meal in the future. Another hint: the baked cod on Friday included two long, well seasoned filets. Probably enough for two, or take one filet home. It heated up nicely the next day! Yum.

Second time around does not disappoint. We had the same thing the pastetli with the roesti potatoes - my previous review stands. My mom had the prime rib sandwich. The size of that beef was basically a full dinner not a sandwich. The horseradish it came with has just the right bite. Prices are reasonable. I feel like I'm in Switzerland. What more can I ask for?

Stopped in for a drink on a Friday before the dinner rush. We used to come here quite a bit over the years, but it's been a while. We asked to sit at the bar and sat behind the server stand. Unfortunately, the server repeatedly smacked into my mom's seat even though there was plenty of room. Wasn't a very comfortable vibe. We ordered a tap New Glarus beer and a vodka cranberry and were charged $17 ($8 and $9 respectively). When we asked to confirm, we were just told "tourist prices". Surprised we could even stop the bartender as he was busy tossing treats and ice cubes to a dog that was in the bar. I expect those prices in Milwaukee but not in New Glarus. The place is still plenty busy, even before dinner, but I'm not eager to go back considering that's how prices and service are like here these days.

The single most unaccommodating restaurant in a 3 week roadtrip through WI. The waitress said the only vegetables in the entire restaurant were corn and pickled cabbage that day and that they'd removed the vegetable plate and couldn't do anything for me. The only option presented was a house salad. $7 for romaine lettuce with 2 cherry tomatoes, 2 cucumber slices, 2 croutons, and 3 pieces of red onion. I get people come here for a slab of meat but in 2025 lets have an option or two for others

I was visiting New Glarus, and decided to dine in here. The menu was full of Swiss dishes. I started off with Cheese fondue. It was enough for 4-6, may be more if you are not a very cheese person. It was good. Roesti is a nice swiss twist on hash brown. It is a hashbrown pancake with a layer of cheese. Also was slightly oily. Perch filet sandwich was my favorite item though. Waitress voluntarily split it into 2 for us to share. Perch was fried crispy. There were some small bones though. Kids chicken strips and french fries were fried nice and crisp.

You go here for the Swiss fondue which was excellent! Plenty of bread and vegetables for dipping and reasonable price as well. Also, the wedge salad was good and you have your choice of a few house made dressings and I would recommend the ranch..very tasty. All New Glarus beers on draft so if you like the from this brewery, you will be pleasantly surprised. FYI, Staghorn Oktoberfest is now on draft which can be hard to find. Enjoy!

Wonderful staff that took care of my family. Our waitress tried getting our daughter to eat, and made sure to bring snacks for our baby. Another waitress even held our son for a few. The food wow. So delicious.

Great food! Cheese fondue was amazing and so was the NY strip steak with peppercorn sauce! Cute, small place. Nice and homey!

**July 2025: Late Morning Visit**…read more Spotted Cow! The city of New Glarus is basically a Spotted Cow destination! Wherever you go most restaurants will serve this beer, which is very malty. This beer is only available in Wisconsin but if you want the seasonal stuff visiting the New Glarus Gift shop will give you the most options Tuesday-Saturday: 10am-5pm I think the tasting option is $8 for 3 pours. It's a good way to try out all the different options before deciding on which bottles (or cans) you want to buy. The Stone Soup (Seasonal) was my favorite, but you can't go wrong with the original Spotted Cow. I think the majority of the seasonal beers were in bottles. I think they come in packs of either 4 or 6. The prices here are pretty comparable to if you buy them from a Wisconsin Target, but the big box stores have less variety. Since I was doing a big cross country roadtrip my weight allowance could not' accommodate everything I wanted *cries* and they don't ship their booze *cries* Next time I come back I'll make sure to make bring an empty suitcase! If you're visiting New Glarus your trip won't be complete without a visit to the factory (gift shop)!

I've been to a lot of craft breweries, and I have to say this is now one of my all-time favorites. The concept is simple but awesome this isn't your typical bar. There's no indoor seating, but there's plenty of outdoor space on the other side of the parking lot. You come inside, pay $8 for a beer, and get to keep the glass. Or you can sample three beers for $8, keep the glass, and get a coin for a free beer in town. They also sell beer to go and other fun merch with their logo. The staff was super nice and friendly, and the vibe was relaxed and welcoming. I tried the Oktoberfest, the Pilsner, and the totally naked. All were fantastic! If you're anywhere near the area, definitely stop by you won't regret it.

Quality, flavor, presentation were simply top notch! It just so happened to be oyr servers birthday as well, so that was fun & she was so sweet & accommodating... the atmosphere is is wonderful with the distillery, gift shop & a view of the river right out on the terrace if you want to eat outside. We saw a mother & baby deer right across from us and a whole family of geese with their gosling. We loved the place so much, we came back 2 days later for lunch before leaving the area. Take the Distillery tour & buy some amazing infused balsamic vinegars, oils, bourbon, brandy, bourbon BBQ sauce, scented candles & other before leaving. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! You do get to try up to five tastings of your choice, which was nice since you can double up on a tasting if you really enjoy the taste.
