Great record store with a wide selection of titles. Everything is categorized by genre, but it's a bit difficult to find things since everything is displayed in crates. There was also a large section of new releases, but unfortunately it wasn't fully sorted which I found to be inconvenient. Luckily, the records were fairly priced and there were a lot of things on clearance. There was also a listening station near the front so you could try some records before you buy them. There weren't many workers, but the ones that were there seemed nice. Overall, I enjoyed browsing this vinyl store. It was definitely fun to dig around, but I probably wouldn't come here if I was looking for something specific. Unfortunately, I found it a bit difficult to find the store location. It's located next to the concert hall, but the sign wasn't very noticeable from the parking lot so I nearly missed it. read more

I love record stores. I especially love record stores that sell tickets. Located in downtown Pomona next to the concert venue that shares its name, the Glass House does both. When I went inside I was actually surprised. This is really a very large store and there were tons of vinyl for you to root through. On this occasion I wasn't really looking for records as I wanted tickets to the upcoming Black Flag show. But since I was there I'd thought I'd do a little browsing. As others have said, this is a crate digger's paradise. You might find a gem or you might find a few too many copies of Peter Frampton Comes Alive! Prices were excellent though so the best of luck if you're looking! The Glass House venue sells tickets through Eventbrite and in store. You'll save a couple of bucks and a few minutes waiting in line at will call if you go get tickets in store. If you're like me you don't want those dumb e-tickets! Gimme paper. Bring cash though! The employees started to talk about the show and somehow we got taking about how I almost got crushed at a Slayer concert. Good times! If you're a record collector, an EBay flipper or concert goer, the Glass House record store is for you. The Glass House has some incredible shows coming up so I'm always checking for what's coming up. Going in store helps you save on fees plus you could do some shopping while you're there. One of my favorite crate digging getaway spots. I would get lost in here for hours searching, with great music being played over the speakers via vinyl. The customer service was stellar, always. The Glass House was a 5 star store last yr. I am revising my review to state that the star system falls utterly short of measuring the cultural significance, the sonic value of this gorgeous institution of tune distribution. The staff is professional and immaculate. I will never forget the impeccable suggestions of the very thoughtful, the very lovely Elijah. He recommended a Lightnin' Hopkins record to me that I know I am a better man for having heard. I believe Elijah has moved on to a green pasture where he studies tunes deep and wide all day. The city of Pomona misses him. At present, Ivan or Jack Glam is the clerk I happen across the most. Jack is a beautiful, hirsute dude who is actually glad to help customers, play records, and just be in a record store. I have spoken briefly about popular latin music with Ivan; he is a friendly and knowledgeable fellow. I hope he is able to stay at the GH some way for many blue, blue moons. And then, there is the magnanimous, the assiduous, the adventurous Alex. Legend has it he still goes on record safari throughout The States and beyond to net that wild, prized vinyl. I am not sure what Alex has not done in music. He has done the DJ thing (and still does at Goldmine Bar), played in a band, sold mountains of records at Coachella, and etcetera. The world of jams would not be the same without Alex. He is a great and groovy attestation of all that is cool in music, but for him I am not sure I would have ever bought Computer Games by George Clinton, or Prince's ultra rare mixes at a FAIR PRICE. Alex keeps the record buying landscape safe for the true diggers, and I will always respect him for that. Much love Glass House. Keep passin' the feelin' on. read more

It pains me deeply to say that Glasshouse is now a shadow of its former self. The shop's legendary former curator Alex has moved on to Record Safari in L.A. Without him, the quality and turnover of second hand records at the shop has plummeted drastically. The staff remains very friendly and professional, and they do offer much better trade in value than nearby shops like Rhino in Montclair. Worth a stop if you're in the area as prices are fair and you can still find gems (just not nearly as often as before). read more

WORST RECORD STORE EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. I have been to this store 10-15 times over the past two years and I made sure to always stop in when I'm working in town. My experience last night (7/12/22) changed everything. I entered the store around 5, I knew I only had an hour to shop, so I checked out the record wall and moved to the new arrivals bins. Within ten minutes I started to hear the employees talking about me. It was not one singular comment, but they were watching me and narrating as I looked through the bins. Making statements about how I "wasn't even looking at the records," about the way I stood, the clothes I wore. I heard one employee tell the other that I could probably hear them, and they were right. I even heard one say that he had seen me in the store before. If I'm a returning customer, why would you go out of your way to be mean, judgmental, and make someone feel uncomfortable and unwanted? Maybe they thought I was cute and that's why they couldn't get their eyes and thoughts off of me. As I left the store I said a quick "thanks" and one employee said to the other "oh he definitely heard us" and the two of them busted up laughing. Overall I'm glad I went in, because at least now I know where not to waste my time and money. Will not be returning. 0/10 experience. Way to keep the cringey better-than-you record store employee cliche alive and well. Eat shit y'all. read more

[My caveat with this review is that I haven't been here since coronavirus took a big collective crap on us starting in March.] You have to go to the outer edge of LA County to find, hands down, the best record store in LA County. It's worth the drive! This store has an all-caps AWESOME selection of used vinyl, in many different genres. The centerpiece of this largeish store is the massive "New Arrivals" rack that is frequently refreshed. Each time I come here, I spend a solid half hour methodically flipping through most or all of the records in this section. There is so much high quality product to be found. I asked the dude who runs the store why he constantly has so much good new inventory. His answer was that he pays people the best prices for their collections. This strategy clearly looks to me like it's working. Every time I go it's a fresh bonanza of non-picked-through records. They also have random sales. I'll walk in and the guy at front will say "Everything is 15% off today." I'll ask why and he'll say, "We just have too much inventory." I doubt this is for lack of sales- people just keep bringing him really good shit to sell. Anyway, I hope this store is still as good as it was as of 6 months ago. Haha, I almost don't want to write this review because the Glass House is one of the best kept secrets in the LA area. But if you're into crate digging or finding rare records for a good price, this place (and its sister store Record Safari LA) is worth a visit. Glass House has a very nicely curated selection of used/new records, but its focus is mostly used records. Go to Rhino Records or Amoeba if you want readily available new releases. From what I gather on the Glass House Record Store's social media, one of their buyers purchases a ton of collections from all across the US and splits it between Record Safari/Glass House, which means that there are a lot of hard to find records in their store. I've found rare rap records, pop records, and limited edition records in great condition here. And since their items are VERY fairly priced, the things they put out never last long. Every time I come in, I always find another record to add to my collection. Trust me, you don't want to miss this store. read more

It's sad that they never mention this shop on Record Store Day.This store is located in The Arts Colony across Antique Row.Amoebas little brother is what I think of when I come here.Over the years they have expanded to more than a couple of genres,surprisingly they carry compilations,comedy,country and even spoken word on vinyl.A small turntable sits next to the register so one can listen before buying,not many shops offer that.When I think of the customer service I have to chuckle.Usually when I walk in,the dude in the front says "Hey,what's up?" and proceeds to play his guitar and look at his sheet music.Not mad at all.I never asked his name but I hope he makes it one day.They also carry 45s and tapes and they have a couch just in case you bring someone who's not into digging.Peace Out. read more

This record store is good for REALLY hard to find and rare records. I mean like, impossible to find $$$ really cool ones that are on the wall. They usually have awesome collections of punk 45 records. It's so cool! I get better deals here than on Discogs so i'm always hooked. The manager Alex knows his stuff so well. I can't believe he always finds records like this, and he's always got really awesome stories about where he got them or how he found them. They know something special here, and that's what keeps me coming back. Really smart people who know their stuff. They also have a really good general selection and good picks they recommend of current or their favorite music. I love hearing what music they play in the store and usually end up getting what they're playing. That's smart! All and all, a really fun place to go and a great way to nerd out with fellow music fans! read more

Glass House Record Store has one of the biggest selections I have experienced in all of Southern California. Found it before a show I was attending at the the neighboring music venue and have been back many times since. Really enjoy how things are organized and think the staff has always been super cool and helpful. Location is rocking and staff is always down to chat music. The collection here is so big it can be a bit overwhelming, in a good way. If you have never experienced Glass House Record Store make sure to stop in! read more

Sometimes I come to Pomona from LA specifically for this store, but also whenever I'm in the area, I have to drop by Glass House because it's the coolest record store around. Their top-notch selection of carefully curated gems new and used always includes jaw-dripping rarities, and is matched by prices that range from "great deal!" to "a steal!" and best vibes. It's not often that we go through a pandemic of the the COVID-19. It is unfortunate that many small businesses are forced to shut down and while all this is going on I would really like to take the time to write a positive review for Glass House Records for they are the true MVP of keeping a business running and doing what they have been doing to keep their business going. They started posting multiple records through their Instagram and have been selling records through those efforts. I recently purchased a vinyl through this new system they have in place. I was impressed of how quickly and efficient the transaction went smoothly. I received my vinyl within a week. The vinyl itself was in great condition and played well on my record player. I happen to purchase the soundtrack to the Twilight New Moon, (and for the record I wasn't a fan of the movies and although they have been mildly entertaining this particular soundtrack has to be one of my favorite soundtracks) I was so happy to receive my vinyl in the mail. In times like these music brings much comfort and I am thankful for Glass House Records still being able to come through for people such as myself and bring happiness in times of darkness. I've only visited the Glass House in Pomona twice and on those two accounts I walked out a happy customer with the vinyl I have purchased. On my last account I back in August of 2017 I was very fortunate enough to have met one of favorite artist Atmosphere and even was able to get my vinyl signed there so from there on I knew this would be a record store to remember. I love this place. I always come here when I'm around downtown or after school. The drinks and snacks here are really cheap and the employees here are really nice. My favorite employee is probably the tall guy with a beard. None of the employees really give any attitude and they all seem to be in a pretty good mood. read more

Like someone else stated earlier, my review somehow vanished. The space is big and the stock is a bit bare for how it's laid out. The employee at the time was playing hip hop; I like hip hop. What I don't like is hip hop with homophobic slurs. After about the 3rd homophobic slur I informed the clerk I was gay and was offended by the music, and asked him to change it. He was annoyed, yet however did eventually change the music. When I hear racist, sexist or homophobic slurs coming out of the speakers, it reflects on the store poorly and I share that information with others that care to know. read more

Rhino is up the street on Indian Hill in Claremont, I suggest you go there if you want good customer service and a good selection. I love small independent record stores, and in fact, I tried going there on a few occasions while walking the area to help support local businesses. BUT, I cannot in good conscience support this store. They are overpriced, and extremely rude, either completely ignoring customers while chatting on the phone with their wannabe goth friends, or only helping their buddies that come into the store. The big chick behind the register is always eating. I'm not that thin to talk, but seriously, do you really need to eat constantly or talk on the phone and ignore your customers? Small businesses like this give good small businesses a bad name; which is why best buy or online stores get more business. It's sad, but true. read more

Hmmm could've sworn *I* was once the first reviewer for this place a long time ago. Methinks this is suspicious. WHATEVER! Before it became the Glass House's indie version of Best Buy, it used to be a tattoo and piercing parlor. Frankly, I think I would've preferred it as the former than the latter. This place is empty the majority of the time. It carries the music of bands and artists who have been at the Glass House music venue next door, and it's quite useful for that but in a lot of cases, it's overpriced, it tries too hard to be the hipster Los Angeles scene (when it's SO removed from L.A., it's ridiculous), and the clerks (yes, you guys are CLERKS, deal with it) are pretty rude and do the whole pick-n-choose-who-I-wanna-help-today game. Again: WHATEVER! Totally "hip" spot for the under 18, as hip as anything is going to get in the I.E. If you're over 21, avoid at all costs before you're put in diapers. read more

Selection and prices were a 5, the service was a 2 or 3. My BFF works for a theater also called the Glass House, but she lives in Australia. I thought I'd pick up a Glass House Records shirt and tote bag to send to her for Christmas. Came in and there's only one other person in the store, talking on their phone. He's loudly talking about how much he hates his job and he didn't even want to be there today. He steps outside to continue the call while we wait for a sales person, since the shirts and tote bags are behind the register. We looked at records while we waited and I wound up getting a Crosley record player and the new Chvrches. When the guy comes back in, it turns out he's the employee! I ask for an XL shirt for my friend. He let me know that they actually make up to a 3X because I'm fat and apparently he thought I was going to try to squeeze my body rolls into this tiny shirt. Uh, thanks, asshole. I let him know it wasn't for me and moved on, but seriously? He had a smarmy attitude for the rest of our transaction. The selection of records was great. They had Sex Pistols, old country stuff and new releases too. The Crosley I bought was new and was about a dollar cheaper than Target or Amazon, so they're not marking things up too crazy. I might come back and look for more records if that guy won't be there. From the sound of his conversation, the person he spoke to was offering him a job. We'll see. read more

I've been going to the Glass House sporadically for the better part of a two decades and change, but this was the first I'd heard of a record store operating just outside the venue's doors. The guy working here told me they've been here for six years, which kind of blew my mind. I really dig the minimalist aesthetic they've chosen. The hardwood floor is neatly lined with long rows of vinyl, with each genre sectioned out - some more granular than others. Make sure you really pay attention to all the labels, because it can be easy to miss a section like "New Releases" or some of the staff picks, where unseen gems can lie hidden. Prices were all very kind. I found half a dozen solid records and managed to escape only $27 poorer. Even some limited editions and rare records were going for internet-competitive prices. Although it doesn't have much of a purpose to serve, I totally enjoyed the lengthy plush leather couch positioned up front. I had some time to kill while waiting for my buddy to finish shopping, and, man, I could've just curled right up and taken a cat nap on that thing. Odds are if you're in here shopping you won't be using it, but I say hunker down with a copy of OC Weekly or Decibel and check out the local scene while you relax to some tunes. Unless the guy working is playing live Rage Against The Machine albums again. Nothing can drive me from a room quicker than listening to Zach de la Rocha frothing at the mouth. read more

I found the staff to be really informed and cool. You can buy tickets for concerts, find some really cool t-shirts and local zines, and a lot of the concert posters found there are designed by the employees or friends of theirs. If the owner worked with the bands this place could get some great merchandice. Needles and pins went out of business. It was a few stores down. It was a real record store (meaning it sold records). So, I bought a ticket yesterday and I drove out to see it since; the convenience fee would've cost less than my time but, I got to go out an such so, whatever. Eh, I think the convenience fee of buying tickets online is so you don't need to deal with the people who work here... think about that for two seconds before reading the rest. If you as a merchant wanna refer to the venue next door that you profit from euphemistically as "the corner" to me a customer. I'll remind you its next door as in, I live far far away from here. This, before pushing the door closed on you with disdain purvey of my experience to a crowd of people outside. I guess I should be sorry I asked to make sure its next door an sorry I asked who I buy tickets from. As that is how I left feeling; sorry that I asked an that I ever entered. If I ever knew that was to be expected.. Maybe I would've bought ticket online.. Or better, I'll just look for better options an remind people. Can tell not everyone there agrees with that behavior but, you can bet they wouldn't lift a finger to stop it; so, feeling is you're on your own here. Like it doesn't make me feel better that I needed to yell at a cop for harassing a homeless woman while I was here soon after this experience. Is just a gross foul place. I'm sort of embarrassed for being in there, then being treated like that as the only present customer.. I'm sort of expecting the show to be a ghost town now because no one wants to see people at this place. With that said At least I'd get to see the show in peace though. I was in the area on hot summer day, so I decided to check this record store out. I love record stores. The selection seems to be hit and miss. If you are looking for that band who just played the glasshouse or fox theater then you're going to score. But you might pay an arm and leg for it. If you are looking for a better selection, I would recommend going to Rhino. But this is the best place to save some money by buying your glasshouse/fox theater tickets here. read more
