An upscale asian-fusion brunch spot. Super slick reflective interior that really feels fancy. Has a coffee bar in the center which is a nice touch. Food was great. Jakarta Lamb Skewers: Definitely the standout. The lamb was tender, and the coating added a delicate crunch to the skewers. The sauces were very interesting. The peanut sauce was nice, but tasted a bit too strongly of fish sauce. The red cabbage emulsion was very earthy with a hint of sweetness. The OG: A take on a locomoco. The patty was rich and meaty, unfortunately the mushroom gravy was runny. But the star of the show was the yuzu cucumbers, which really freshened up the dish. Shakshuka: Standard, well-made shakshuka. Not much to say here. I appreciated the spicy sausage. The bread was similarly excellent. Ube Pancakes: Beyond the spectacle of pouring the ube syrup on the pancakes, this dish was a real treat! The pancakes were buttery and fluffy, and the ube syrup was the right balance of ube flavor and sweetness. Glass Kitchen is located in the Commerce Gate plaza on Highway 7 just West of Leslie Street. If you go during prime dining hours, the parking lot can get quite busy making it difficult to find parking. There is an underground parking lot that is available if you can't find above ground parking or just prefer to park indoors though the staircase/elevators take you to the middle of the plaza which requires a short walk to the restaurant. The restaurant itself is very modern & beautiful. The lighting is perfect & they do have dimmable lamps on each table for you to control how bright you want your table to be. We ordered the yuca fries, Jakarta lamb skewers, burrata and beets salad & the Korean short rib poutine to start. We initially order two orders of the yuca fries however changed it to the poutine quite quickly (our server was easily accessible) and without any issues. She was also really great at pointing out how many lamb skewers, etc. each order has so that we would be able to make an informed decision on how many to order. Everyone enjoyed all the appetizers! My favorite was the poutine. They use tater tots instead of french fries. It was loaded with beef, cheese and gravy. Very delicious! Even though I have read other reviews that hype up the lamb skewers, I found this to be just okay. The yuca fries were yummy. Nice & crispy! For our mains, 3 of us got the GK burger. They didn't really comment on it so not sure how enjoyable it was though 2 of them did finish everything on their plate. My friend who is Korean ended up getting the Korean Galbi Short Rib crazy wavy gravy. She didn't really enjoy it but should of known better. I would never order Chinese food in an Italian restaurant haha. One of us girls ordered the shrimp & grits. She didn't finish all the grits as it is quite heavy especially with all the bisque (she said it was like a lobster bisque). For myself, I ordered the Hokkaido Scallop risotto. The risotto is done with butternut squash. I could taste the squash and it was pleasant. I can't really speak for the risotto cook itself since I rarely have risotto so I can't tell a good one from a bad one. The scallops were a decent size (4 in total) and the cook on it was nice. Overall, it's a nice restaurant with good service. We all agreed that we enjoyed the appetizers over our mains. If I were to go back again, I would probably just get their poutine. read more

We made reservations in the earliest we can get in there was 1:45 PM. However we arrived in the area around 130 and we were able to get seated. When we walked in we were greeted from a very nice hostess. Very beautiful environment, sophisticated decorations, and the staff were all very informative and pleasant. Presentation of the food was perfect and the flavour pallets worked together. I got the seafood scramble and I shared it. We ran out of bread and they were ordered some and brought it promptly to the table which I thought was amazing cheeseburger empanadas made to order, and I love that they took the time to explain the best way to consume. I'll admit, I went into this place expecting not to like it. Brunch, in general, isn't my thing--I've always thought it's overrated. The idea of waiting forever for overpriced, mediocre breakfast food just doesn't appeal to me like it seems to for everyone else. That said, I saw a reel about this spot and decided to give it a try for Mother's Day. Since I couldn't make a reservation or find an online waitlist option (which, let's be honest, all busy restaurants should have by now), we decided to test our luck by going early. We arrived at 11:15 and were added to a Yelp waitlist. Unfortunately, we didn't get seated until 12:45. The hosts, to their credit, were gracious, regularly thanking everyone for their patience and acknowledging the long wait. Once we got inside, I was a bit confused--there were 5-6 empty tables, and it didn't seem like a lot of people were leaving all at once. Not sure why the wait dragged on so long. The interior is as cute and Instagrammable as they come, so anyone looking for aesthetic vibes will be happy. Our server, however, wasn't quite as warm as the hosts. We had to flag him down a few times, which was a bit frustrating. While I don't need constant check-ins, some level of attentiveness would have been nice. Now, onto the food. We tried the Biscoff pancakes, the OG Crazy Wavy (their take on a loco moco), and the seafood scramble. The pancakes were the highlight--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and not too sweet or heavy, which I appreciated. The OG Crazy Wavy was also good--unique enough to stand out from standard brunch fare and full of flavor. The seafood scramble, though, was the weakest of the bunch. It wasn't bad, just not very exciting--if you're into eggs and bread, it'll work for you. We also had a few non-alcoholic drinks. They were fine but could've been much better with fresh juice. On the bright side, they arrived quickly. Prices were typical for brunch, and portions were decent. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised. Aesthetic place, but in terms of food it's very mid. I decided to go back a 2nd time to give it another shot, but was disappointed. The 1st time I went for dinner. We got the skewers (soso), the scallop risotto (ok), lobster pasta (pretty good) and the baked Alaska (it's very sweet, but with the passionate fruit's tanginess it really ties the dessert together, I enjoyed it). We paid about $60 per person - my friend and I didn't think it was worth it. Not bad, but we'd rather spend the $60 elsewhere. The 2nd time I went for brunch with my boyfriend. We got the fried chicken with the black sesame waffles. The fried chicken was done well, but the waffles didn't add to the dish. The chicken overpowered it. I've had fried chicken and waffles at other cafes and found it much better. What makes this dish a bit different from other places is that they use black sesame egg waffles instead of your typical waffles and the fried chicken has a bit of spice. The Shakshouka tastes very homey. Nothing special about it. The Lotus Biscoff Latte was decent. The coffee is more prominent and has a slight taste of Lotus Biscoff. You can taste a decent amount in there, but if you like a stronger Lotus Biscoff taste, then this isn't for you. It really depends on your preference. I've had this drink at a different cafe and preferred it there more. I can make a good coffee on my own, so when I'm going out I'd rather pay for a stronger Lotus Biscoff flavour since that's not something I'd make at home. Also, both times I've been here it was really loud and hard to hold a conversation because we couldn't hear each other. I have came here for brunch for the third time in August. It's such a pretty spot to take family and friends. I recommend making a reservation as it can get busy. I have tired a handful of their items. My favourite is their ube pancake, shrimp grits, and chicken and waffle. All three of these have such unique flavours and pairings. Came here for dinner on a weekend. Best to get a reservation in if you're planning to come around the usual dinner time of 7-7:30pm. We knew that the restaurant would be busy so we came early at 6:15pm and were able to grab a table without having reservations. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The restaurant is very nicely decorated in a modern style, like a resto you'd expect from DT Toronto. We ordered the hamburger empanada, fried chicken with cavier and the chicken cordon bleu. While the fried chicken was delicious, the cavier doesnt do anything for the dish as it's overpowered by the fried chicken. Better to order the normal fried chicken and save your money. The cordon bleu was fantastic. Came with a nice potato puree and refreshing pickled salad. The chicken was super tender and well seasoned. Came here for Mother's Day brunch and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere and decor were beautiful; elegant yet cozy, and it really set the perfect tone for celebrating such a special day. We made a reservation online ahead of time (which I highly recommend because it gets very busy on weekends), and we were seated right away when we arrived. The restaurant is in a plaza with a good amount of parking, but it fills up fast since there are several other popular spots nearby. We ordered a variety of their eggs Bennies--short rib, crab, and avocado. The short rib was super tender and flavourful, the crab version had real crab meat (not the imitation kind), which was a really nice touch, and the avocado one was decent but not as memorable as the other two. All of them came with crispy garlic potatoes that were delicious! They were golden brown with a perfect crunch and a bowl of fresh mixed fruit, which was a refreshing way to end the meal. For drinks, we tried the Biscoff latte both hot and iced, and both were delicious: sweet, creamy, and unique without being too heavy. You can also ask them to make it less sweet as well. Came here on a Sunday evening. Called ahead to ask about availability and to make reservations since we have a baby and would like a table with space to accommodate our stroller. We were told that they're usually not busy on Sunday nights and it was true. We arrived at 6pm with just a handful of tables seated. The restaurant has a modern design and looked clean when we went. The atmosphere was nice with slightly dimmed lights. All the staff approached us warmly and were friendly. The manager, Leo, also came around a few times to make sure things were okay and offered to move chairs around for us to fit our stroller. However, there was a big private party at the back and food took quite a bit of time to come because of that. Our baby finished her whole meal that I brought and wanted to leave already but our main course still hadn't arrived. We felt really cold while waiting as well, and it turned out that because the private party at the back complained it was hot since there were many people crowded at the back so they turned up the air con. The manager, Leo, nonetheless was really nice and understanding; he tried his best to accommodate and turned down the air con for us. It did make a difference because we didn't feel as cold after a while. About 45 minutes later, our main dishes started to arrive one by one; they didn't arrive at the same time. We ordered the Lobster Roll as a starter and it was really good. The bread was soft and crunchy at the same time and tasted flavourful. I'd recommend it. We also got the Lobster Linguine and Truffle Mushroom Chicken (grilled) as mains. The Lobster Linguine was quite delicious. I found the bread on top a bit too cheesy but it still tasted good overall. The Truffle Mushroom Chicken was pretty good. The chicken skin was crispy and the meat was tender so it was perfect in that sense. The plating was really pretty too. Due to the long wait and cold environment, we were offered 10% off and a complimentary fruit bowl for our baby. It was a nice gesture and we appreciate it. Unfortunately, our baby was really done with the meal she didn't really eat the fruit bowl. I'd say if it weren't the big private party, the overall experience would've been great since service was wonderful and accommodating and the food was delicious. I'd say it would be worth it to come back on a "normal" night hopefully without a big party to try more dishes. For those with a baby and thinking of using a booster seat, the chairs are nice and wide but unfortunately could not fit our booster because it was so wide that the booster straps were not long enough to wrap around the chair. They do have high chairs to offer though. Also, I noticed that the menu on the website is different compared to the menu in the restaurant. They probably changed the menu recently and haven't updated the website yet, so it can be confusing for those who are trying to take a look at what to order before going to the restaurant. Went for a date on Halloween (Friday) evening. It was quiet with only a few tables seated. When we walked in, no host or waiting staff was visible for a good few minutes. Even the bar seemed unstaffed. We were eventually seated near the entrance. I didn't check the menu before and wasn't expecting upscaled breakfast for dinner. Food was fairly good. The staff continued to baffle me though. One of the staff was constantly sweeping and mopping while customers were still dining at around 7:30. All of the items were really good, the chicken and waffles were very crispy and savory. While their pancakes were soft and sweet. We also got the biscoff latte and matcha latte. I did have to ask the server for our drinks as I saw them sitting on the counter and at this point we had already gotten all of our food items. Didn't really like their dinner as much, as their items weren't as good. I was really excited to come back for dinner because I saw so many good reviews. We got the scallop risotto, yuca fries and the Burrata Alla Norma. Was a bit disappointed because all of our dinner items were on the colder side. Their sunshine drink just tasted like oranges, I couldn't really taste anything else. We also had to ask for utensils because they didn't give us any. Definitely reserve a table if you're coming on the weekend as it gets quite busy. The cafe is pretty big and has lots of tables but the wait times can be long depending on when you go. Overall, I enjoyed our brunch at Glass Kitchen. It is a pricier spot for brunch (the lattes were $8 each) but the menu was quite innovative and the food was generally delicious. I had the mini lobster rolls ($27) which is actually supposed to be a starter, and it was buttery and rich enough to be a main. The side of home fries ($7) was also very yummy. The fried chicken and waffle came with a twist as the waffles are black sesame HK-type waffles, which we enjoyed but thought it could've had stronger black sesame flavour. I've heard a lot of hype about glass kitchen for a few years now and just never had the chance to really try it. This Saturday my girlfriends and I decided to check it out. As I pulled into the parking lot, it was absolutely slammed. A few storefronts over there was a grand opening for some new Banh Mi shop and the line snaked around the entire plaza, which meant that the parking lot which usually is already pretty packed was even more packed. Thankfully, this plaza has underground parking so I just went there directly. As you come out out of the underground parking, glass kitchen is just across the plaza and because we had a reservation, which we made through yelp, it was easy to find seats. The interior of glass kitchen is beautiful and very aesthetic especially if you're going to brunch for just the vibes. Everybody in the restaurant was dressed in a cute brunch summer dress. There was quite a few people waiting for a table since they probably didn't have a reservation so a good tip would be to make your reservations early. I ordered the crazy wavy gravy fried chicken which consisted of three huge pieces of fried chicken on top of a bed of rice, a fried egg on top and some seasonal vegetables. The gravy part was a mushroom gravy, which you could then pour over your food or dip your chicken in this was actually very delicious. My friend ordered the eggs benny, and it came with the crispiest potatoes ever, really well seasoned, however, the eggs Benedict could use some work. My other friend ordered the seafood scramble and I feel like for the price, the portion was pretty small it came with the three thinnest crustinis ever! Overall we had a pretty great brunch and the service was extremely attentive. I would recommend this place if you were looking for a super aesthetic brunch spot with lots of seating and the option to make reservations if you're in and around the area of Markham and Richmond Hill. One key thing I did notice was that they did not serve any alcoholic drinks, which I found pretty different than most places as brunch usually consists of some sort of Caesar or mimosa, but not this place read more

Overall the food was pretty good. Ordered the short ribs eggs benedict and the scones to start while my friend ordered the matcha pancakes. The scones had a nice buttery flavour which paired well with the fresh fruit and raspberry jam. The ube butter, however, did not have any ube taste, just the taste of salted butter. The benedict was delicious with a nice, rich, hollandaise sauce and perfectly crispy potatoes. Just wish there was a bit more kimchi for the tang. As an early bday celebration, I took my gf here for saturday brunch. Making a reservation was super easy and efficient. We had seen this place grand open (from the outside) but heard that they had a huge waiting list so we just chilled for the first month that they opened. Meanwhile, we kept hearing good things about it from other ppl (so I guess you could say there was a lot of positive hype). We arrived for our 1pm res and noticed that there was a massive line. Idk how busy dinner is (I would assume similar lineup) but make sure you get a res beforehand! Mini lobster rolls: The bread was SO soft and the lobster was tasty. It was heavily seasoned w/ citrus which gave it a really bright and fresh note. The truffle butter on the side was a nice touch but honestly neither me nor my gf were able to taste any truffle haha. Short rib benny: The potatoes rival those of Alchemy or Next Door. Crispy edges but tender insides. I think the hollandaise was also richer than the one at Alchemy. The short rib was soft and melt in your mouth. English muffin underneath was also outstanding. I actually like the fact that you get fresh fruit rather than a pile of salad (The fruit was also chilled! Small details don't go unnoticed). Some of these brunch spots we've been to, stack 2/3 of the plate w/ salad and it just feels like an attempt to rip the customer off. The fruits are definitely much preferred. Seafood scramble: The eggs were perfectly cooked throughout. I just wish for the price we would've gotten more than 1 scallop. Drinks: My gf got herself a matcha latte. The latte art on top was pretty and it tasted pretty nice (I wonder if you can suggest a more intricate art to the server). Not sweet at all. I myself, got a strawberry espresso fizz. It was heavy on the espresso flavour and then you got a hit of slight strawberry carbonation at the end of each sip. Don't think I would order it again but it wasn't bad at all! The decor is beautiful. Everything is glass or looks like glass (like its namesake). The washrooms are fancy. The service was also on point. Every time I turned around and glanced at a server they came over right away. I think all the hype is justified/deserved. The food IS indeed excellent. Would I return? Definitely. Would I be a regular customer? HELL NO. It's one of the most expensive restos in the york region area. I agree w/ Jessica M about the pricing. This resto is charging downtown Toronto prices but in Markham. Every single person I've talked to agrees that the food is good but the price is insane. I heard a lot of great things about the brunch at this place. But really wanted to try it's dinner. So finally got in on a Friday night. It was busy but not too busy. So we didn't really have to wait for a seat. The decor is very nice but has a casual welcoming aspect. So I think great for a first date or a nice casual date night. Or even hangout with friends. The prices for the food are fairly reasonable and Asian fusion pretty creative. We had ordered 4 things 3 of which is in the picture I had posted. The only thing I didn't post was a picture of the baked Alaska. Overall the food was pretty good and hearty. The portions are fair and is pretty filling the loco moco was particularly good . The only thing I didn't like was the salad did not pair well wit the octopus. The curry was good. And so much so. That I wish they had some sort of bread or rice or noodles carb to soak it up and make use of it. The Hokkaido scallop squash risotto was very good. Although I would definitely eat it with something salty before hand to have a nice mix. The baked Alaska was a great desert I would encourage people to try it. It's a call to an old school throwback desert. And is worth the price. Great balance with the raspberry flavours inside. The service was good. And overall I enjoyed the ambiance. Great food, beautiful decor, good service. They only have a 1.5hr seating though (at least on the Saturday morning that I, which can go by quickly. But it is very easy to make an appointment online. They do have two high chairs, so it's first come, first serve. Staff were friendly and no complaints about their service during the meal. Food was delicious! We got the ube pancakes, lobster bennie, short rib bennie, biscoff latte and fireball. The ube pancakes were good, but I was expecting the ube to be infused in the pancake, whereas it was pancakes with and ube sauce we pour over. The lobster and short rib bennies were really good. The home fries it comes with were super crispy! Drinks were pretty good. The fireball was good to wake you up as it had ginger and cayenne in it. Love the interior - very brunchy during the day and romantic at night. The utensils and quality that they have are very similar to Issan Der - so that gold/classy vibes to it. Staff were also very nice and friendly - I really also appreciate them explaining the dishes once they come and also being able to answer questions regarding their menu and food items Food Came in with a few friends for lunch so we ordered a lot of things. Everything was really spectacular. I really like their ube scone and biscoff pancakes - these are great to share. Both were very buttery to taste, fluffy and pack with their unique flavour. As a main, I got the seafood loco moco - which had an onsen egg, lobster, prawn, scallop and a nice pairing of the ginger garlic sauce. Their dessert - ube custard cake was also good. Recently had a chance to try the latest buzz in town. The Asian fusion menu and its brunch reputation had me excited, but my dinner experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The place has a nice vibe but felt a bit crammed. Despite a reservation, we had to wait 30min to be seated which was a downer. The service was friendly but somewhat slow given they were at capacity. The presentation of the dishes were admirable, but the execution of some of the dishes fell short of expectations. I had the scallop risotto and the scallops were overcooked. My friend ordered the grilled octopus which apparently wasn't the freshest. I have to say the flavours were average. Finally visited the viral brunch place a month ago. We didnt make reservations, but luckily got a seat 15 mins into opening. We were told we could only stay for maybe an hour? The restaurant was almost 75% full at that time. The menu was long so it really took awhile to decide what to order. Food was definitely on the pricier side..and drinks too. We ordered food and that was when things got interesting. The restaurant was already loud and because we were sitting between two tables, the ones on the left started raising their voice as if they had the restaurant to themselves. There was only ONE barista and drinks took at least 25 minutes. Food took more than 1/2 hour. I started getting a headache from the two beside us. As soon as food came, we quickly finished up and left. Food and drinks were ok. I didn't taste any black sesame in the waffles though.. It was definitely not a good experience. I had been wanting to try the brunch at this restaurant but ended up going for dinner instead. The interior of the restaurant is nice, service is good and the menu is interesting, but I was underwhelmed by the food. The dishes were aesthetically pleasing but they were not hot enough, and was a bit lacking in flavour. Went here for dinner tonight with the boyfriend. I called in for a reservation for 7pm for 2 and the manager or whoever answered the phone was giving me answers like "should be fine" and I followed up with if I need to put my name down or anything? And he finally asked for my info. We were seated quickly for or reservation. We ordered the lamb skewers, Korean short rib and lobster linguine. Unfortunately the service was super slow, my boyfriend arrived and sat for 10 mins before a waitress actually came to ask if we wanted water. Meanwhile, the male manager who was not doing much and looking around and clearly saw that our table has no water for 10mins of seating, ignored us and didn't bother to offer any water. Next comes to the service after ordering, it was basically non-existent, except when food arrived. I appreciated the explanation of each dish, however, having to wait 40 mins for food to come out was ridiculous. We saw other tables who ordered after us, receive their food first. The best was the lamb skewers, however, a Hefty price for the amount of meat you actually get on the skewer itself. It's rather small for $15. Next, the short rib, this was underwhelming and portion size was so small that my boyfriend was still hungry after the fact. The Korean short rib tasted more like a "cha siu" to me when I tried it, and boyfriend agrees. Finally, the lobster linguine ($32 or $35?) , I was super disappointed. This failed to meet my expectations for a lobster linguine. The sauce tasted like a can of lobster bisque soup poured on top of the linguine pasta and topped with pieces of lobster. This was probably the most disappointing dish out of all. Again, portion sizes are SUPER SMALL for the price charged per dish. I will give this another try for their brunch services. However, I don't think I'll be returning for dinner. read more

Love the interior design. The waitress was so friendly gave us many wonderful suggestions since we didn't know what to get. We got the yuca friends but felt that it wasn't crispy enough. The chicken and waffles was great loved how-it was not regular flavour waffles but black sesame the syrup was a chilli maple, a slight kick to the sweetness. We came here for a birthday brunch after seeing all the hype in social media. I made reservation for brunch Saturday mornings The restaurant was already quite full first thing. The male hostess didn't look too friendly and it was somewhat an awkward vibe when you first walk in. The female hostess was more friendly and actually smiled. The decor is very nice with lots of natural light. We ordered the matcha and biscoff latte. The latte was SO good!!! My hubby liked the latte it came unsweetened. With respect to the food we ordered the lobster rolls to start followed by short ribs bennie, salmon Bennie, chicken waffle and Kalbi CWB. The food tasted average. The chicken waffle was good. I like the texture of the chicken batter. The black sesame waffle was interesting because it created the visual contrast to the dish. The lobster roll would have tasted better if they were warmed up. The lobster meat is very tiny . I think it was overpriced! The service was good. Our server was friendly and was quite attentive. There is a seating limit of 1.5 hour because they are busy. Made a reservation a few weeks in advance and I am so glad we did because it was packed for Saturday brunch and I truly see why! I have no complaints whatsoever. This is everything I'd want from a brunch spot. Lots of parking, fantastic service, beautiful decor, interesting coffee options, an ambitious and adventurous menu which is absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a nice brunch or dinner option in uptown Markham/Richmond hill area, Glass Kitchen is where it's at! My first time here for dinner (usually go here for brunch). But dinner is just as good. Has the lobster linguine, fois gras poutine, and the ube cake. Service was excellent! You need to make sure you make a reservation on weekends though.
