They play games with their pricing by asking you "How much would you like to pay?" I ended up going to Volvo of Huntington and they priced the same model at $150 cheaper but included the rear climate control while Glen Cove Volvo told me I would have to upgrade to the Ultra model for that feature. Volvo of Huntington's pricing was so much better that we ended up getting the XC 90 for less than we would have paid for an XC 60 at Volvo of Glen Cove. Volvo of Glen Cove likes to use pressure tactics by having a slimy "manager " talk to you and insist on that "you are getting the best price". I brought my 2019 XC40 in on 10/2 as I had noticed moisture developing at times on the inside of the windshield. I mentioned that the windshield had been replaced a couple of months ago but also specifically stated that I had a problem with sunroof drains just 2 years ago. Rear sunroof drains were clogged causing water to infiltrate the car which then caused water damage to the audio module. Bottom line was I paid for a $3,400 repair in 5/2023. Purchased this car from them in 6/2021 as a "certified pre-owned" with trade-in of my XC60 (my 2nd one, neither of which ever had roof drain problems). Was not pleased with that outcome as this a common issue with XC40s and seemed like something that should have been covered under my warranty - not the case. Even with this history they did not check the drains and when I picked up the car on 10/6 they recommended having the front windshield resealed. Went back to the glass shop and they removed and resealed the windshield at a cost of $325. They stated before and after there was nothing wrong with the seal. Interior windshield continued to develop moisture. I brought it back on 10/17 after I also noticed wetness in the trunk area. Low and behold they informed me the rear drain tubes were clogged and needed to be replaced. Obviously, not pleased after 1) having spent $3,400 2 years ago, 2) did not check this the first time and spent $325 for nothing and 3) known issue with the car. Left the car there and then waited nearly 3 weeks for them to get back to me with a repair cost. Left several messages with the service advisor, service manager and general manager. No return calls until I called Volo USA and discussed my problem (coincidence?). Repair cost was another $800 bill after they so graciously discounted an hour of labor. Ang got the car back with the rear hatch not operating automatically-have to open and close manually. After all this the service advisor's main recommendation was to "trade in the car" as the moisture problem may persist. The advice should have been several years ago to steer clear of this dealership and service department. As I had mentioned, I owned 2 XC60s prior to this and never had any problems. This place does understand the phrase "customer service" and do not stand behind their product. Oh and yes still moisture inside the windshield at times. read more

I'm just going to go ahead and copy my corporate email to this review. For years my plan was to buy a Volvo SUV. I had always heard good things, liked the appearance of the SUV models, and knew the safety features were right for my family. Finally, on this day 1 year ago I purchased my first Volvo. A 2016 well kept Volvo XC90 with only 31K mileage. Maybe buying used was my mistake. It wasn't long after purchasing that I knew there were issues with the car. The last owner had that serviced before. Sometimes the electronics failed. The keyless entry acts up. (Little did I know because I thought the way it locked and unlocked with my finger on the handle was normal up until this week). Then the first big problem occurred with the turn signal malfunction. Obviously, not a wear and tear issue that any customer should have to deal with a few months into buying their vehicle. A very expensive and lengthy (12 days) service. Thankfully, I bought extended warranty that covered this issue. The second big problem is what leads me to writing this email today. My engine light came on and my car turned itself off. I took it to Volvo Glen Cove on 8/27/2022. I was called on 8/6/2022 to tell me the damage was due to a rubber hose from engine block to valve that goes to heater core. Actual hose cost is $50 Total cost to me: $1300. I know there is another way than what was explained to me to do this repair. My car that I have not even had for a year yet has cost me more in repairs than several monthly payments. I called customer service and spoke with someone who sounded like they woke up from a nap to answer my call and she advised me to go to the sales manager at the dealership. I went to Glen Cove Volvo to speak with the sales manager and I was given a gofer, named Jonathan, instead. He helped me back and forth between the sales manager who sat behind her desk the entire time, which I found to be so disrespectful. I was told they could "try" to set me up in another vehicle that was newer and CPO. And showed me some options. Then I was given a low-ball offer for my current XC90. When I expressed this offer for what it was, I wasn't spared the auction chit chat. The Volvo mission and values do not align with my experience through Volvo. I feel that I have been failed as a customer and I have lost trust in this company. I was sold a used lemon and instead of doing the right thing, I was given an option that would only benefit the dealership. A LOW-BALL offer that emphasized a Costco membership discount that EVERY Costco member gets. As if this was special to my situation. The uneconomical cost that this car has had in repairs in less than one year of my ownership is deplorable. I have asked for invoices of service multiple times and I have not been given the documentation I've asked for. This has been a very disappointing experience. At this point I am not expecting anything to change, and with that I will not be buying another Volvo nor recommend it to others. Maybe find another dealership if your really into Volvo because something is very wrong with the way Glen Cove handles business. I really liked my xc90 so much that I almost left with another one today. But like I said something is very wrong with this dealership and in my heart I know they know after 3 owners of the same car there are undocumented issues with it. And no one is taking accountability. As a previous reviewer said before, the dog was cute. Too bad he couldn't handle business better! 1.5 stars for some very friendly employees. Addressed gas mileage, value, resale, safety, efficiency, drive ability and all with a cheerful bright smile. Dealership is welcoming. Clean, bright, open and airy. Displaying all latest models a customer could easily check out. Concierge care where you can enjoy piping hot coffee, cocoa, tea. Mini bagels with butter are available. The water bottles are cooled to appropriate temperatures. Customer relaxation areas are full of magazines (yes REAL ones) for those who enjoy them and newspapers. Comfortable lounge area. They have an area for " Volvo" brand shirts etc. In this location the finance team and manager were not pressur some... were completely helpful & professional. No one EVER pushed, lead to a sale. Pure good old home customer service was evident from the initial call. It means alot when people are considerate of your hard earned money, take time to answer questions and always remain professional. If Volvo is your preference and you live near check them out. The reason was they do not do outside financing, because it takes 3 weeks to clear check from the bank and it may even not clear. I still can't process how this dealership is still in business. One of the cars had been sold a few days ago, the other car was tucked away behind 4 other cars and would've been 15 minutes to get ready. The salesman couldn't have been less interested. I leased my XC60 in 2018 and the process was seamless. Deron was extremely friendly, no pressure and I was able to get the exact vehicle trim I wanted at a great price. I've been back there a few times now for service (simple oil changes plus other items like brake pad replacement and a random issue with my motor mount) and that is where they lose 1 star. Although friendly, I feel that the minute something starts to show a little bit of wear they tell you it needs replacement. And obviously the service is expensive when you have to pay for certain items. So as of now I'm unsure if I'll be leasing another vehicle or looking elsewhere. If I were purchasing a vehicle I would def buy here because any repairs can be done at the service shop of your choice but I didn't want to risk it with a lease and have them say something was "done wrong". But overall very friendly and they try to keep you happy. read more

Purchased a certified pre-owned 2018 xc60 in 2019 with under 12,000 miles. Have had tire issues off and on for a while and went to our local tire dealer to have them replaced even though they should have 20,000 left on them. Found out 2 of the tires are on backwards and they are older than the car. So the dealer must have switched them out before we purchased. We've spent the last couple of weeks looking for a replacement vehicle for our existing Volvo sedan. We love the Volvo brand, and their reputation for safety so we visited the Glen Cove Volvo dealership. From the moment we met him, Jason Friedman has been absolutely outgoing, patient, and helpful - a true sales professional in every way. He showed us a couple of S90 sedans in our budget, and let us test drive them all to get a feel for how each one drives. He also patiently explained all of the individual features and what they do (we were blown away - these cars can practically drive and park themselves). We told him that we were also looking at another brand before making a decision, and we weren't ready to decide on anything just yet. Jason didn't make us feel pressured to buy anything. He gave us his card to call him with any questions.   Even though we originally went in for a sedan, we decided a SUV would better fit our needs.  In explaining this to Jason the next day, he told us he had a SUV that he was confident would fit our criteria and he was right.  It was love at first sight!!!  Jason had listened to what we wanted and matched us perfectly with our XC90 SUV.  We came in for a test drive and again he was patient, and friendly, without pushing us in one direction or another. The price was great, and Jason really went out of his way to help us make a decision. Honestly, we were so impressed with the way Jason and the rest of the staff took care of us, that we picked a great vehicle from the ones at the Glen Cove dealership in large part because of Jason and for his exceptional treatment of us.   Anyone considering a Volvo should absolutely go see Jason Friedman at the Glen Cove Volvo dealership.  He will be sure to go above and beyond, as he did with us. read more

Never felt so compelled to write a comment before. My neglect by Glen Cove Volvo's management was so egregious that Volvo USA sent me a check for one month's lease payment as compensation for my 'inconvenience'. Leased a 2021 S60 in April of this year; car delivered was not exactly car as discussed with 'salesperson'. I spoke to Kristen, the sales manager,in person she said she would speak to general manage and get back to me asap. Never heard from her. I left two messages to no avail. I finally wrote to Volvo USA in N.J.. Over the span of 6 weeks they requested 3 times for her to contact me-she never responded.The problem has been neither addressed nor resolved by Glen Cove Volvo. I will start with the pros: Sales reps were quick, efficient, and accomodating when dropping off. Service was fast. Same Day. Cons: An oil change (synthetic) and Cabin air filter replacement cost $330. Told me my car was damaged and needed thousands of dollars of repairs when it indeed did not. Story time! I went in this week to get my cabin air filters replaced and an oil change. They told me they would do a diagnosis of the car and let me know if they found anything. I received a call later that day notifying me that my car was ready (fast same day service is what I will leave 1 star for). They also informed me that there is A TON of work needed on my car. I was surprised to hear that- it is a 2011 Volvo with 80,000 miles. They told me my bushings were worn/cracked, control arm "busted", right front axle "busted". They told me I needed a new AC belt. Told me my oil was leaking and that I needed an alignment. I said "okay great... Ill go check with another mechanic and figure out what I need to do.". The following morning, I see a mechanic and without informing them of the damage that I was made aware of by Volvo they say theres pretty much nothing wrong with the car. They did say my bushings were worn and that I could replace if I wanted but was not critical- still had a couple of months left in them. This dealership completely freaked me out and made me feel like my car was unsafe to drive all to try and upsell me on repairs that I dont in fact need. I will NEVER go to this dealership again. I've heard the Huntington location is much more honest and accommodating. read more

In the same time period, the sales desk proactively called me twice. When I provided feedback on service I was told "that's not my department". The team at Glen Cove went out of their way to make the leasing process as seamless as possible. I went back to the dealership with the following strikes against volvo: (1) the 2016 XC90 that I was returning (also leased through Glen Cove 3 years ago) was garbage and an infuriating experience to lease, (2) I was looking to save at least $100/mo on my next lease, and (3) it was the last weekend before I had to return my vehicle, and I was burnt out from visiting at least a dozen different dealers and test driving vehicles, and I was just done with the BS of finding a new car. Jay Andrea was my sales person, and in a span of an hour, I went from getting ready to walk out from irritation at finding out the deceptive fine print of the Volvo leasing promotional ad to signing a contract. This wasn't b/c I was duped or pushed in any way, but because Jay went out of his way to make the best possible deal for me and make the process as easy as possible. Also, I, no joke, test drove over a dozen vehicles that month, and the test drive route with Volvo Glen Cove was second to none. It drives me bonkers when I'm on a test drive and a salesperson won't let me U-turn, stop short, accelerate quickly, make very tight turns, and actually try to test what the car can do instead of just driving on straight roads at 25 MPH and make a few turns. What a fun test drive I had with Jay! That was probably what clinched it for me. Bottom line is that this is still a car dealership, and is there anybody out there that actually ENJOYS being at a dealership, b/c I'd rather shoot myself in the head - BUT, I was very appreciative that I found a knowledgeable sales person who could actually answer my questions about the car (WHY DON'T CAR SALES PEOPLE SPEND TIME TO GET TO KNOW THE CARS THEY ARE SELLING?!?!?!?!?!! PET PEEVE!!) and who was respectful of what I wanted to spend and what features I wanted in the car. Deron was also very helpful and friendly, as was Annemarie in financing, who made the process as quick and BS-less as possible. Extremely disappointed! My wife went earlier in the week to test drive an XC 90, negotiated a great a price and really LOVED the car. We went back on Sat just so I can see it and test drive before we signed. We were told that the car was 10 mins away in another lot (no problem). We proceeded to wait over 40 mins. The last straw was as we sat there waiting I saw them pull up the car but another salesperson took his clients on a test drive, since our sales person had decided to help another customer...when we informed our sales person that we were leaving, all we were offered was can a "do you want to reschedule?" I've been customer at this location for more than 10 yrs.and have always had a good , unstressful shopping experience .. and this was no different. Prior to this visit I narrowed down my choices to a Genesis GV80, an Audi Q7 and a Volvo XC90 AWD with air suspension, which I came to test drive. I was looking for a vehicle with a higher towing capacity than my current Volvo XC60. The Audi was the highest, then the Genesis and last was the XC90 at 5000lbs. Unfortunately,, Genesis has a haggle free shopping policy making it the most expensive. I also went to the Audi dealer on Sunrise Hwy as soon as they opened and was not impressed. There was no front desk and for the first minutes salespeople just looked with no one greeting or approaching. I had to initiate conversation. Did not have a welcome aura at this Audi dealership. Even though the XC90 had the lowest towing capacity of the 3 I was looking at Glen Cove Volvo had the best experience. Once I arrived I was greeted and after a short wait was assigned a salesperson. Our salesperson was named Dennis Romero. He was very personable, knowledgeable, accomodating, and easy to talk with. His overall demeanor helped put me more at ease during the shopping experience. Any questions I had he answered and if there was one he didn't he know he would find out in a expeditious manner. I ended up getting the XC-90 and my overall experience was very relaxed and made more enjoyable due mostly to Dennis and the friendly staff. After several, okay more than several, Volvo dealerships both in the NYC area and around the country had tried to pull a fast one on a female with 2016 Volvos, despite great lease incentives, I called Glen Cove on a whim, because they still had two 2016 S60s that not only had the colors and options I wanted, but they actually had all-wheel drive. I was told that although they had just sold (and they turned out to be loaners, anyway so I wouldn't have wanted them), the internet manager asked what kind of payment I was looking for each month. I told him, and he said, "I'm pretty sure we can meet that on a 2017. Would you be interested?" I hadn't really considered a 2017; I thought I would only be in the market for a 2016, considering that the 2017s just came out and had barely $2,000 worth of incentives, while the 2016s had $10,000 worth of incentives! Well, I was paired with Boris who is a rockstar! I was visiting my parents that week, so Boris called back on the number from which I had called, which was their house. I was out with my mom, so my dad took the message. He said Boris was "so nice, polite, and professional," which is not a compliment that he easily doles out. Before I could even call the dealership or Boris back, I was receiving a follow-up call from the internet department. I was told the price that the finance department had come up with. It was slightly higher than my maximum, but it was honestly $200 a month less than anyone had given me on a 2016 and $100 less than anyone had even tried to quote me on a 2017. I was coming back from Florida in a few days and set up an appointment to come in and meet with Boris to look at the car. From the second I got there, it was absolutely no pressure and the easiest car leasing experience ever. Everyone at the dealership is so friendly. From start to end, everything was no-haggle, and I really did get an excellent price. People asked why I went out to Glen Cove from White Plains (aside from originally being from Long Island), and I responded it was about the service and the price. The day I went to pick up my car, yesterday, it was pouring, and the LIE and Northern State were parking lots. It took my friend, who drove me, and I forever to get there. Boris told me "no problem, we're here," even though we were running horribly late to the point of getting there an hour after closing (but it was the end of the month so lots of people were there). Anne Marie, the finance manager, was nice and accommodating as well. I had already filled out the paperwork, but I needed to sign the final details. We were there for less than an hour, including learning about the car's features! My friend was so impressed; he said that it took EIGHT HOURS with his BMW! I'm trying to talk him into a Volvo for when he gets a new car in a few months, and I think that I will be able to convince him, and I know that he'll come to Glen Cove when he does! (I did notice he took Anne Marie's card off her desk, haha.) Note that they are remodeling and will be for a while, so the dealership is in trailers right now but it will be worth it! read more

I went to GC because of past reviews however, experienced the complete opposite. I went in to renew a lease-like for like, easy sale. I got the most incompetent rookie salesperson (if you only heard her questions and approach....), and quite frankly, that was the dealbreaker. I was very clear in what I wanted and needed in the car, which included me stating don't waste my time, you have my criteria, just give me prices. Stupid me wasted over an hour giving her a chance, while she walked back and forth to her mgrs office, whilst still not giving me any firm pricing. When I told her I was leaving, I gave her my contact info. b/c she was going to email me the pricing after doing more research so that I could decide over weekend (b/c this was going to be fast decision for me). I told her I would come in on Monday to sign if price worked . That NEVER happened, however, she called me on Monday to ask me when I was coming in to talk about the cars!! The service has declined markedly since I started going to this dealership several years ago. The original service personnel are gone. COVID precautions are below what other dealers are doing (i.e., no shields at the service desk or post-service sanitizing of cars) and there are significant attempts at upselling by service advisors. Imagine being told that your 8,000-mile tires needed replacing or being quoted a higher price in person for a standard service package listed for a lower price on their website or paying to have your wheel repaired and then discovering it performs exactly as before. This place is such a scam, I will never ever buy a car from them again! Why am I so angry? Well, I received a letter from their GM, Carl Cruz, last Friday. The letter was an offer to sell 15 vehicles at $12,000 off MSRP and I was chosen to participate because I had bought a car from them before. I was interested because I happen to be in the market for a SUV. But $12k off? Sounds too good to be true, right? So I called the number on the letter, talked this guy Jonathan. He told me the offer only applies to 2017 S90 and XC90, so I told I was looking at the XC90 T6 Momentum, asked him if the MSRP is $58k, then the offer is around $46k? He said "yes". Still not really believing it, I said if this is some sort of a scam, please don't waste my time. He assured me the offer is real. So we made an appointment for today to work out a deal. So today, I went by the dealership with my family (took my 6 and 4 year olds) on the way back from the city. Showed the letter to a sales person named Martin, told him what we were looking for. He went through the colors and options with us, we told him no white and black colors. He then told us to wait while he checks the inventory. Comes back and tells us that they only have 1 2017 XC90 left and it happens to be a white one! WTF?? He said he can offer us a 2018 XC90 instead and take $7k off. I told him we are only interested in the offer from the letter which I had confirmed with them on the phone. then this guy Jabir takes over to talked to us. He said the letter was probably prepared 3-4 months ago and they didn't anticipate selling all their inventory and said hey sold like 12-13 XC90s just yesterday and they have none left. Are you kidding me?? This guys is so full of it!! Then he said they have another 2017, it's a T8 Hybrid with a $76k MSRP, he can sell that one to us for $12k off. Really? They know that we are inquiring about a $50k car and then they try to sell me a $64k car? Oh, and then Jabir said the offer never applied to the T6, only the T8. The story just keeps on changing. Finally, I have heard enough and told him we are not interested anymore and left. I thought it was going to be fairly straight forward since I had already confirmed with them on the phone about the offer. Man, I feel like an idiot, What a scam! and talk about a waste of my valuable time on a Sunday afternoon. I mean I bought a XC90 from when it was still Hassel Volvo, so this was my first time going back since it was changed to Glen Cove Volvo. It will be my last visit as I just can't believe how dishonest these people are. I felt like I was at a used car dealership and not a luxury car dealership. I am going to send this letter I received to their corporate headquarters and see what they have to say about that. . read more
