We just purchased our fifth Toyota vehicle , the fourth from Penn Toyota. As was with the previous 4 times, our most recent experience in the purchase of our new 2025 Toyota RAV4 XLE was most exceptional. Our experience began with a most wonderful, honest, and gentlemanly salesman, Tommy Kim, who can be described as nothing less than an absolute gentleman. He was great throughout the entire process ...all the way from purchase to pick up. Additionally, the service provided by both Nick Mignano, Manager, and Chris Volonakis, finance manager clearly surpassed any service we have experienced at any other dealership. As indicated, in addition to the 2025 Rav4 XLE that we had just purchased and picked up, we had previously purchased a 2011 Highlander, a 2013 Rav4 Limited, and a 2020 Rav4 Hybrid. All of our vehicles are regularly serviced at Penn Toyota. Our experience at Penn Toyota throughout the years has indeed made us feel like we are part of the Penn Toyota family. I was instructed to leave a voice mail, apparently no one around to take my call. It is hard to believe they are selling cars at 10:30 am, and all F&I staff are too busy to answer the phone. Penn Toyota replaced the screen in my 2024 rav4 prime but didnt update firmware. To fix this warranty issue they require the car for the whole day but havent been able to provide a loaner vehicle for 4 weeks. Always sound annoyed when i call weekly. read more

*This review is only about the service center, not the sales side of the dealership.* My car needed servicing after months of procrastinating over it, and I was worried about costs, or getting upcharged for service + parts. Ryan greeted me as one of the service associates. I was ready for the talk of "you have this-and-that" problem with the images of coins leaking out of my pockets, but he soon alleviated my concerns. He was professional, patient with answering all my questions, and took the time to educate me on what my car needed, and broke down what costs would be necessary and what could wait, with realistic outcomes. I never felt pressured to get something fixed, and any he made sure I was fully aware of repairs. It made the what could have been a frustrating experience into a rather pleasant one! The inside of the dealership has a waiting room with some seating, tables + charging stations, and DIY coffee station (drop in packets). (I didn't take photos, but as of Dec 2023, the pics some other yelpers have posted up are still accurate.) No hot water/tea was seen at this visit. TIP: Vending machines only if you want a snack, so if you plan on staying while your car is being repaired, bring a light lunch, as it's a bit of a walk to the nearest place to get food. As it turned out, my car ended up having to stay overnight at the service center awaiting apart, so Ryan set me up with a rental car for the night so I wasn't stranded in greenvale. If I return to the center, I hope to get him as my service manager again! read more

Went to this Toyota dealership after a small accident involving my two wheels on the driver side, and this has been the most unprofessional experience I've ever had with an auto shop. On my first visit, they completely forgot to replace one of the tires. After waiting 5 hours for what should have been a simple 2-tire replacement and routine maintenance, they added another hour to fix their mistake. When I finally left, I noticed a noise coming from the same side they had worked on. I brought the truck back, but was told it was "too late for a road test" and to return the following week. When I came back, they kept my truck for 2 days and then claimed it was just a bent protection plate behind the brake, which they bent back into place. The noise continued. After calling again, they asked me to do a road test with their technician. I'm not a mechanic, but I managed to point out the noise myself. Only then did they finally admit it was a bent axle on the rear driver side, which would require a $3,000 repair. I ordered the parts that same day, but they told me they didn't even have the proper tool to perform the job and would need to order it. Weeks passed with no updates, and when I called, I was met with the rudest front desk person I've ever dealt with, Ms. Stacy, who gave me attitude and made me feel like I wasn't important at all--maybe because of my accent, who knows. When I was finally transferred to the parts department, I learned that the part had already been sitting there for days, but they still didn't have the tool. At that point, I decided to take my business elsewhere and picked up my part. At a non-Toyota shop, they replaced the axle in one day--only to discover that this dealership had ordered the wrong wheel hub. Now I'm stuck waiting 5 more days for the correct part. This dealership is hands-down the most unprofessional Toyota shop in the U.S. They wasted my time, money, and patience. Do yourself a favor and don't bring your vehicle here. They are not qualified. read more

I've been a Penn Toyota customer for many years and I am in the process of buying a new car. Last weekend, I brought my 4 year old minivan in for an oil change and to determine why the engine light suddenly went on. The service department "salesperson" made it seem like my car "required" certain service updates. I did not realize until after the work was completed, that the "required" service updates were not really not necessary. They charged me $1,000. Had the service department "salesperson" clearly stated this and not pushed an unnecessary service upon me by indicating that it was "suggested and necessary," I would not have spent the extra $500. Additionally, the salesperson in the service department incredulously told me that he would not charge me for three (3) hours of work even though he claimed that that was how long they worked on my car. In actuality, they had my car at the dealership for less than 3 hours and could not have even worked on my car for 3 hours. (I do not believe that they even spent the two (2) hours on the car that they charged me for. When I subsequently spoke with a mechanic, I was told that the work should have taken less than an hour.) I was clearly scammed and taken advantage of by the service department "salesperson" who simply wanted to make money for the dealership. As a minimum, I should have been promptly issued a refund for the fabricated amount of time spent when in actuality it did not take the dealership two hours of time to complete the work. This appears to be a poor dealership management issue, as the service department "salesperson" is only there to push sales for the dealership instead of clearly stating what is necessary versus what is suggested. Additionally, the dealership should time the mechanics for the work performed and not charge customers for time not actually spent working on the car. Lastly, before I left, I asked to speak with a manager. None were there, so I wrote on the receipt that I wanted a manager to call me back. I then went into the showroom and asked to speak with a manager. No one was available but a salesperson told me that a manager would call me on Monday. The following Wednesday, I called to follow up as no one got back to me. On Wednesday evening the manager of the service department called me. I asked for a credit and he refused but offered a $100 future credit toward services. I called back and asked for the manager of the dealership to call me. To date, radio silence. This was not always the way Penn Toyota handled service in their service department. In my years of bringing my cars to Penn Toyota, I never had this issue. However, there has clearly been a change in management. Luckily, in Roslyn and the surrounding area, there are plenty of options available. If you already have a Toyota, I recommend using a local trusted mechanic instead of the current service department at Penn Toyota. read more

Bought the warranty for $1,800. I was advised it would cover repairs for the first 3 years or 130,000 miles. Bring in my car for a repair, guess what that particular part isn't covered. No way to know that prior to buying the coverage. I was told I wouldn't have to pay for a repair, but here I am being denied. Warranty is useless and I feel ripped off. read more

They lie about the time it will take to service and sometimes let you just sit in the lobby even well after the car in done because they're too lazy to get you. Kevin Carr lied to my face about my car almost being done when I get notifications about my car being turned on and they didn't even move it yet. Said he would get the manager to talk to me and it was another lie. An hour after Kevin told me it would be down, I went to the office to say I needed to leave (I informed them so had a hard deadline of 3 hours) and he was chatting and laughing with his friends, when I found out my car had been done the whole time. I'll never forget you Kevin Carr. Slimy, lazy and a liar. Still mad thinking about it. If they assign you to Kevin Carr, turn around and leave. He will make sure you leave angry and ripped off when he inevitably forgets about you. read more

I went in to Penn Toyota with my wife on Saturday, June 14, with the intention of ordering or purchasing a 2025 Toyota RAV4 SE or XSE in cavalry blue. As we walked in the store, I could see the exact car we wanted in the back lot. I asked the salesperson about it, and he said it was already sold and awaiting pickup. The salesperson looked through the inventory and said there was nothing available, and suggested we go out and look in the used lot because the inventory changes daily. I asked if I could just order the car we want, but he said that was not possible with Toyota. They do not take orders for builds. So, we went out to the lot and looked around for the color and trim we wanted, but to no avail. I gave the salesperson my name and number, and he said he would let me know if anything changed, if the car pickup on the back lot fell through or if an equivalent showed up. I asked if he was sure he could not order the car we wanted, and we were willing to wait even if it was several months. He assured me it was not possible to order a specific Toyota build. This would have been the end of the story, except for what happened not 24 hours later. "Kimberly" from Penn Toyota called me the very next day, Father's Day, and asked if I wanted to come into the dealership and place an order for the exact car I wanted. I was shocked, and told her I was there less than 24 hours ago and told this was not possible. I told her I would be happy to place the order, I already have the build I want printed out from Toyota.com, but I would need to do this over the phone as I was not driving another hour back when I was there the day before. Kimberly told me she had to ask her manager, and he would call me back. I told her that either her or the salesperson I spoke with was very uninformed, as I was told several times this order was not possible. Now it has been 2 days and I have not heard back. At the very least I would expect a call to clarify what the heck is going on at Penn Toyota where they tell you two different stories not 24 hours apart, and won't take an order over the phone. I would be very cautious about going to Penn Toyota in the future. read more

I recently had a very frustrating experience with this dealership. After choosing a car, I asked for their price. The salesperson Alan jokingly said they could only take $100 off. Since they didn't provide a fair quote, I offered $2,000 off MSRP myself. They agreed and required non-refundable deposit. There is one point needs to be mentioned. They did not inform us in advance of the deposit amount to be charged. It is entirely reasonable for a deposit to be $500 or even $1000, provided that both parties reach an agreement in advance. however, in this case, the process was highly improper. the salesman taking the card, processing $1000, and only informing us afterward. SO When they returned the receipt to us, I noticed the $1000 deposit and hesitated for a moment, but since i thought we would go through with the purchase anyway, i didn't mind paying extra $500 deposit that day. This dealership is precisely taking advantage of this kind of mindset from buyers. Most other dealers only ask $500 or less, so $1,000 non-refundable feels deliberately designed to trap customers. Later, after doing some research and visiting another Toyota dealer, I found out that the same car was being discounted thousands without any issues. SO Losing $1000 feels less frustrating than realizing this dealer took advantage of my trust and market ignorance. Yes, I take responsibility for not checking the market first, but a professional and transparent dealership should provide competitive, market-based pricing upfront instead of taking advantage of customers who don't know the typical discounts. It now feels like that $1,000 deposit was designed to "lock me in" and discourage me from leaving once I discovered fairer deals elsewhere. This kind of practice shows a lack of transparency and fairness. I would strongly caution anyone considering buying from this dealership - do your research first and compare prices at multiple locations. My 80 year old Father had set an appointment for today with Penn Toyota service for a Toyota Manufactures "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL" sent to him about a month ago. The Rep that set the appointment was clearly told that it was in regards to this particular potential vehicle fire related recall and had set the appointment for today. My Father arrived on time to the appointment with the vehicle involved and then was told that the part was not available yet for this recall service and was sent home without service. Prior to this, my Father had called to schedule for this recall about a month ago and was told that the part was not available. We've purchased many cars before (Lexus, Toyota, Honda, Audi, Acura) and never have we experienced such distasteful and arrogant attitude from a dealership. They do not relay important messages to the sales person, and show disinterest/ disdain toward customers. Even the manager is rude and arrogant. Before I came here, I went to star toyota because it just closer to my house and star toyota said if I want to order and wait, I could get the price on MSRP, so I bring this offer to Penn to see if they can match it (if they have car ready, i'm willing to pay above msrp). I talked to the penn pal Kimani, he is a very nice guy, but after he called his manager (i forgot his name) and the manager just told me rudely that they completely sold out on sienna, then told me just just to go to star toyota, because star toyota just have a better allocation on sienna. That's is fine for me, I will never come back again to this place. I know it's been hard situation for everybody in this industry. But it does not mean he can treated the customer like he did. We bought our car (RAV4) here in February of 2020 (right before lockdown), and since it's been a year, I thought I'd leave a review. When we did our due diligence before buying, what really sold us on Penn Toyota was that we trusted the people. There was another dealership farther into Long Island where we maybe could have pushed the price down a little lower, but the general manager seemed shady and we just felt like we would regret it. Now having dealt with Penn Toyota for a year, I know we made the right choice. They have been responsive and helpful with everything, and their service department is super professional. We had a Toyota recall a few months ago and Penn Toyota made it as easy as possible, which we really appreciated. And just today I had a small service appointment and everyone was so nice and helpful (Joann M. is the greatest!) In short, we spent a lot of time thinking about where to buy this car, but when we get our next car it will be a no brainer, we'll come back to Penn Toyota. read more

Great experience with sales team. They spent time to explain to us regarding current market situation with Toyota Sienna-- wait time of 1 year AND $8,000 above MSRP. We tried to offer 3K over MSRP and then final $5K over MSRP-- both rejected. They explained they could sell the car at $8K over MSRP easily and the used car market is selling used cars @ MSRP prices currently. Disappointed at how the market is that you have to pay $8K over MSRP to own a mini-van. Needless to say, we did not get a Toyota Sienna. We have been a long time customer of Penn Toyota and have bought two minivans and recently a Camry from this dealership. We have never had a problem. Our salesman Luis Morales was great. He was very cheerful, genuine and helpful. He was also very patient and honest. We never felt rushed or forced to make a deal. Our only complaint is that my husband is a very thorough finance manager and asked our salesman very direct and specific questions about the exact cost of the car and financing rates. However, once we signed the documents and sat with the finance manager who finalized the deal, we ended up having to pay more than we thought we agreed to. We felt a little taken by this last step. We believe the finance manager should be responsible for making sure the sales department is consistent with what the customer ends up paying so there is no misunderstanding or confusion. read more
