I'm looking for a new vet in the area. Called to inquire about dental service, just a ball park... Refused and basically mandated that an exam had to be done first. I didn't ask for a quote, just a baseline price. Asked if the exam was free then... nope, mandatory $80 to just LOOK look at the teeth, then quote. Tried to call back to see if its a full exam then, and the geriatric sounding receptionist kept sending my calls to voice-mail. Suss, when vets need to do money grabs like these, is business that bad, seriously? Very happy with Glencoe Animal Hospital! Shopped four other providers for vet services, and this was by far the best option. I actually drive up from Park Ridge to get here. Plenty of vets on staff . They are always on time, so the extra drive time is more than made up for from less lobby time. Good communicators, give explanations and always ask if there are questions and address them all. There is vet turnover, so I can't list my favorite. But I think I have had three over the years and happy with all of them. so good recruiting. Front desk staff is friendly and I get any need invoices or proof of vaccinations right away. Thankfully have not had any serious procedures done here, looks like most of the lower reviews are related to those services. But would definitely try them. read more

Glenco Animal Hospital took care of our last 2 pets for most of their 14 yr and 17 yr lives. They are now taking care of our new aussiedoodle. We have seen all the doctors at some time or another and they are all great. I feel they really care and are knowledgeable. Our primary doc is Dr. Levin. When our Italian Greyhound was in her last months, Jake actually made a house all with a technician. Who does that? A doctor that cares and understood the stress taking our pup to the vet was at the time. I know this was an unusual practice. I am thankful for the entire practice. They just spayed our aussiedoodle who is healing quickly. The incision/stitches were almost Undistinguishable. Meaning it was the best suture job ever. read more

Very disappointed in this place. We had an operation which we have been waiting months for And at the last minute they cancel due to my dog not having his vaccine. Keep in mind this was my vet and they have all the records. So the day before his surgery they cancel and try to push it one more month. My Atypical Addisonian dog was scheduled for dental work and was told she was not approved for dental as her potassium levels were off the charts high, Dr. Borden called and said hyperkalemia to that degree is very dangerous, potentially fatal (See notes from vet visit below). To be on the safe side, I took my dog to the ER and the ER confirmed her bloodwork and potassium levels were not abnormal at all but totally normal. The vet said without even testing my dog's blood, she knew the labwork was wrong, because if she had potassium levels above 10 (as Dr. Borden had indicated) my dog would not even have been able to walk. The vet reimbursed me for the vet visit but not for the ER visit. This was a total waste of an appt., waste of money at the ER and cost me major stress and now my dog still needs dentalwork. Do not recommend this vet at all and we will be staying with her regular vet which is just further away but more competent. Furthermore, manager Reni was incredibly rude when she called me. I mean of course, anyone would upset if you were told your dog's labwork could be potentially fatal and life-threatening and then in the same day, find out your dog is totally fine. She did not even apologize for their gross error. I was relieved but livid. I will be going to a dental specialist for my dog to make sure my dog gets the very best care. read more

Dr. Sara Grogman is truly the most knowledgeable, compassionate and concerned Vet we have ever met. The staff is so kind, they ask about your dogs and it is obvious they love where they work and what they do. Last year one of my dogs was really sick. Dr. Grogman called on a Sunday to see how he was doing. She is a superstar and I wouldn't take my dogs to any other vet. read more

We recently moved from the city and decided we needed to find a new vet closer to us in the suburbs. We heard great things about Glencoe Animal Hospital and they lived up to the hype. On Monday we had an appt with Dr Borden for Frankie's yearly checkup, it all went great. Dr Borden followed up with us to let us know that Frankie had tested positive for the intial lyme test and wanted to send out additional testing for more information. She was very informative and answered all our questions. On Thursday we got a call back from the doctor letting us know frankie had a very active infection and to come in to pick up his meds for treatment on Friday. Well things progressed quickly and Frankie woke up Friday morning not wanting to use any of his legs, walk, eat or move, I called the office at 7am to let them know and received a call back quickly saying they could fit us in at 9an to see Dr Aldridge (as Dr Borden was off for the day) I was so appreciative they could see Frankie because we were worried things had progressed so quickly. Dr Aldridge was so great and caring and told me exactly what she wanted to do to make sure it was lyme flare up and nothing something else causing Frankie's pain and that she would run additional testing and offered to give Frankie Accupuncture to help with his pain. We love that Dr Aldridge offers this service as we are big believers in Accupuncture. Frankie went home with medications and a treatment plan and within less than 24 hrs was acting basically back to his old self. I am so appreciate of Glencoe Animal Hospital during this whole situation. Both doctors we worked with were so great and attentive to our Frankie boy and answered all my worried dog mom questions. We were new clients and they treated us like we had been going there for years. So happy we found a new vet in the suburbs for Frankie and couldn't recommend this place more! read more

Dr. Levine was our main vet and he was extremely knowledgeable very caring and really great with Owen our pug.Who is not the greatest patient to say the least. I Just brought my dog home after a dental cleaning and removal of a benign (I hope, but we'll see what the biopsy results say) oral mass, and once again was thoroughly pleased with the care and treatment that was given to my dog. I have been a client of Glencoe Animal Hospital for the past 24 years. Not once has the veterinarian/owner ever called me to thank me for my business. Never once have they offered any sort of reward or a thank you gift card. And, imagine my surprise, when after this last boarding of my pet, I received a bill and found out that boarding costs had increased by five dollars per day and the bath cost had also increase by five dollars. That is more than a 10% increase. Inflation is pretty much nonexistent these days, so there is no reason for it. I was not informed of this ahead of time. Not a happy camper right now. I am seriously considering using the app Rover for future boarding needs. read more

This place is unreal. I made an appointment, responded to the appointment reminder texts etc. And then I showed up on time, and they had me wait in the parking lot on a hot day with my dog (telling me the doctor will call me- because of their COVID protocol). This is all fine (I support the safety), but then then 30 minutes roll buy, and no call! My poor dog (who is terrified of the car) is overheating, and I have the air up full blast, and its only helping somewhat, and time just keeps ticking. Finally, they call, and tell me I have to come back in the morning! This is for a routine appointment, and they wasted my time (I had to take time from work/get a babysitter etc). They didn't plan ahead for difficult cases, or leave some flexibility with their vets so it became my problem. They seem to have lots of business so I doubt they care at all if they lose mine (they certainly had that attitude on the phone) but it really was a terrible experience for me, and for my poor dog. I have been going to vets for the past 40 years and have never had such poor service. Avoid at all costs. read more

Went there for many years, with two dogs, and liked the place. Now they have a new regime. I get the feeling that the new vets are less mature, less caring, and oblivious of the economic impact of some of their -- very high -- fees. I took my dog to a different vet, and felt like I died and went to heaven! Gentle, soothing to both us and the dog, caring, knowledgeable. His treatment was effective, and the cost was about one-fifth to one-third of what my experience says GAH most likely would have charged me. I have been taking my 10 yr old chihuahua here for the last few years and always have received great service. Appts are easy to make on short notice and the vets all seem to genuinely care about my pet. We have seen several of the vets- Dr Grogman, Dr. Levin, and Dr. Hannah and each one is great and very thorough. My dog is like my furry child so I expect a vet to be knowledgable, thorough, and kind and all 3 of them have shown me that. Front desk staff is also always been very sweet as well. As far as cost goes, they seem on par with every other vets office I have ever been to but I also never understand when people complain about paying for health services for their pets. If its too costly, then dont own a pet. Your pet deserves good care and that does come with a price tag. Sorry to sound callous, but that drives me nuts. The last time we brought my dog in she ended up having a reaction to one of the vaccines (which has never happened before) and the very next morning (this happened late at night) Dr. Levin called me personally to check on her and we talked about what to do moving forward. If you are looking for a vet in the north shore this is as good as it gets! read more

A decade later I still use them, and am always pleased with the care, effort and knowledge. Dr. Levin seems so balanced in terms of his demeanor, decision making, and ability to relate to pets and humans vs. vet smarts. Sometimes you get one or the other, but here you can have it all. This is my second round with Glencoe Animal Hospital. My first Lab was taken care of by them (Dr. J. Levine) later in his years. Just by a whim I tried the hospital, seeing it is down the street from my employment. They are a great and honest team. My other experiences with Animal Hospitals I did not have. I felt the more money they could get the better the hospital felt. Totally opposite with Glencoe A.H. They take the health and safety of the pet first, but at the same time not unnecessary measures.
