    Shake and 44 Oz drink!
    John S.

We got the Smash Burger Special with chocolate shake. Huge burgers. French fries reminded me of Friendly's. We are in Lake Placid for the Caladium Festival. Quite a time. Service at Glenda Jean's is great.

Amazing breakfast. Huge varied breakfast menu. Exceptionally large portions. Friendly, accommodating staff. The eggs are fresh. The biscuits are home made. Sitting outside at umbrellaed tables. It doesn't get much better than this.

Standard local Florida kitch on the walls!

One of my favorite pastimes is to try a new to me privately owned breakfast joint and this great place really hit the spot! Atmosphere- Florida kitsch and local pictures is standard décor for these places at this one is no surprise and nicely done. Everything is spotless. There are three outside tables with giant umbrellas to mitigate that nasty Florida sun. They have been open about a year and a half and the place was rocking! Customer Service- Funny, efficient perfection! I enjoyed some great Black Friday humor with my server. Food- These places tend to have a standard American menu in Central Florida and I'm not complaining. No surprises on the menu; just expected American choices. I ordered my go-to Ham & Cheese Omelet and I asked them to hold the bread. Why you ask? Because the portions are so large, I never get to it. In this case, I was right again! A perfect omelet and buttery hash browns and I was in heaven and stuffed. BTW- it went for about $8.99. I love that they leave a carafe of coffee on the table. One look at the reviews and you know these folks have their act together. I'm joining the fan club!

The Mother-in-law ordered the Denver omelet, and it was just as tasty. A special shout-out to Nora J. for providing excellent, friendly service. She was attentive, welcoming, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. What I really like is that this isn't your typical chain restaurant. It has its own charm, serves fresh, flavorful food, and offers a much more personal dining experience. I'll definitely be back for breakfast again! Last but not least, thank you for the veterans discount.

Over the last two months, I have eaten at Village Inn in Sebring several times. During those visits, the service was excellent, the food was consistently good, and I was impressed enough to leave a very favorable review. Today, however, was a completely different story. The restaurant was not particularly busy, yet my food took an unusually long time to arrive. While waiting, I was seated near the kitchen and could clearly hear employees engaging in loud horseplay and unprofessional behavior, which did not create a very welcoming dining atmosphere. I started with a cup of the pork green chili, which I normally enjoy. It is usually served with crackers, but none were brought out. When I asked for crackers, a cracker container was brought to the table, but the crackers inside were stale and soggy. When I politely mentioned this to my server, the response was simply, "That's how we get them," before walking away. There was no apology or attempt to correct the issue. When my cheeseburger finally arrived, it was severely overcooked and very disappointing. Everyone can have an off day, and that's understandable. What concerns me most is the noticeable difference between the excellent experiences I've had previously and the poor service and food quality I received today. I truly hope this was an isolated incident because I have enjoyed dining here in the past. For now, though, I'll be taking a break before returning.

Merritt Island Pancake House is different from a typical diner. Even though at first this looks like a low-brow diner, the special touches say a lot. They keep with the islands theme in the decor, dishes, etc. There is a whole wall with colorings from children who have dined here. There yummy dishes with lots of gluten-free options (I had GF lemon blueberry pancakes that were great). Something that impresses me is their fruit choice--blueberries, blackberries, strawberries--instead of the typical cheaper fruits. I was really glad with the eggs because they even taste better (creamier) than a typical diner egg (like possibly cage free brown). Maddie was my server and she was sweet, easygoing, and good with the menu. I'd like to bring my girls here and was glad I tried it.

I asked for some lemons in my water "to kill the taste of Cocoa city water from the mainland". And Alex brought a cup full. Just enough to do the trick. He understood. FOOD: The food was great, as usual, except for the burnt sausage bits in the gravy. That was unusual and disappointing, but we were so hungry we ate it. Eggs were perfectly cooked as ordered, and pancakes were excellent (the best of any restaurant pancake anywhere) Sorry, Mom. ATMOSPHERE: Generally, the decor is plain. American flags, Firefighter logos, etc. Some art (attached) OPERATION: BUT today, Father's Day, they must have been short-staffed. The restaurant was about 25% full, lots and lots of empty tables, many tables covered with dirty dishes. Servers were moving quickly with one female server ambling about as if they were closed and hoping everyone else would do whatever needs to be done. It was 25 minutes until we were seated. Then, Alex was great. Then, we waited for our food. The entire restaurant was filled with the strong smell of burnt food. Real bad. Over one hour later, our food arrived. It was hot and, by then, we were extra hungry. We had a great time talking and sharing stories as the time passed. Usually, there is a line outside and all the many benches inside and out are full of people. So, you expect to wait, but today there were very few people. About 4 groups ahead of us. I do recommend you give them a try as the food is usually great.

They have the hot griddles built into the tables so that you can make your own pancakes which is what they're known for. We didn't have to wait for a table and the service was pretty quick. I started with a blood orange mimosa (only $6.95) and it was a very generous size. For my entree, I got the 2-pancake stack breakfast combo. I opted for the lemon poppyseed pancakes (which the kitchen cooks), cheesy eggs, and bacon. My husband got the southern breakfast, and our friend got one of their scramble skillets. My wife had the pulled pork Bennie. I am not a fan of pulled pork, but I must admit my fork wandered over to the plate a few times. She loved the dish as well. It was so big, we took half home.
