The good parts are very good -- very friendly and helpful people who give back to the community…read more Doing a comprehensive inspection on your vehicle in return for a donated bag of groceries is a really outstanding gesture of care. You get photos and detailed notes on the inspection electronically, and they also print out a list of their findings for you to have. Now for the not-so-good. The major not-good is the outrageous prices they quoted in their estimate for suggested and needed repairs. Most of the items on the list were things we could do ourselves for far less money. Some were curious -- when the key fob and interior button wouldn't open the trunk, it seems the mechanic never tried just using the manual release on the trunk itself, which works fine. Similarly, they wanted a couple hundred dollars to diagnose why the TPMS system light was flashing, but they never aired the tires up to spec or test drove the vehicle to see if the light went steady or went out. And nearly five hundred dollars to replace the battery? I'm a shade-tree mechanic from way back, and it feels insulting to be quoted exorbitant prices for things that anyone who can follow directions can do. So, if your car repairs are paid for by insurance and the adjuster approves, or if you have an unlimited car repair budget, I'm sure this shop will do a great job, and you'll love interacting with the personnel. But we have already gotten the oil changed for less than 2/3 of their quoted price, and have two quotes on some major service that would have cost literally one to two thousand dollars more at this shop, so we'll reluctantly pass on any further work there.

Great service and great prices. I like that you can drop off vehicle early. Very nice folksread more

After getting spurious quotes and unnecessary recommendations from multiple shops, we found Expert…read moreAuto Repair & Service honest, prompt, reliable, and exceptionally user-friendly. Our family recently purchased a 2017 US-made runabout with short of 100k miles for twin 15-year-olds to learn to drive and get around town and relieve their mother of taxi duties in the long run. It needed quite a bit of work to bring it up to snuff, though the base vehicle is still solid and has a lot of life left in it. We did some of the cosmetic and easy stuff (replace sun visor, engine air filter, cabin air filter, change oil) done ourselves, got the used-car dealer to fix the front sub-frame that was bent and out of alignment), and postponed some longer-term work (brakes eventually will need new pads in the rear). But this 1.8L "interference" engine will be destroyed if the timing belt fails, and they recommend replacement every 100k miles, so we asked this shop to put replace the belt, water pump, and thermostat so the twins won't have to deal with catastrophic engine failure when on the road as new drivers. They not only did that and replaced the rear struts (leaking) with the new ones I had shipped to us, but they did it in around a day of shop time. The car was ready far sooner than we expected, and everything was in perfect order. This shop is also part of the network the used car dealer employs for its own warranty work, so the car is covered in case anything unexpected turns up in the next year. Top marks!

This has got to be the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EVER HAD at an auto mechanics shop…read more I was traveling through Sante Fe with a friend when her engine light went on. We looked for a place to get the jeep looked at and this auto shop answered right away and said we could bring in the vehicle then and there. I was shocked. Too good to be true. Tony was not only professional but knowledgeable as well...he fixed it right away. I would rate this the best auto shop not only in Sante Fe but New Mexico as well. Thank you so much again Tony You are appreciated beyond words.

The previous shop I went to told me I needed to replace my front suspension and a few other things. Ron at Santa Fe Auto Tec did not charge me for a second opinion. He found that my suspension looked fine, and the clunking was from a loose CV axle nut. He tightened the nut and the clunking sound was gone. I paid what I feel is a reasonable price for 1 hour of labor - much better than what I would have paid to replace my suspension at the other shop, which would not have even solved my problem! It can be hard to find a trustworthy car mechanic but it seems to me that there are some good ones here. I would definitely recommend this shop.

I've kept my Prius in excellent condition and during my most recent routine service visit to T of S Fe, I was told I had to do $6,000 of necessary repairs. But something didn't feel right about that recommendation. My car had been driving smoothly and there were no signs of oil leaking on the floor of my garage. So I declined the service and took the car for a second opinion-- with the service report in hand -- to Santa Fe Auto Tec, which was highly recommended by a neighbor I respect. Ron put my car on a lift and spent a lot of time going over each item on the report. He called called me with the verdict. "Your car is in perfect shape. There is absolutely nothing at all that needs to be fixed. The report from Toyota of Santa Fe is bogus and I've seen this happen before." After all the time and attention Rob spent on my car, he charged me nothing. I am thrilled to give him my business now and feel relieved to have found a Toyota specialist I can trust. The world needs more people in it like Ron, people who have the integrity and the decency to be honest and genuinely caring.
