Oscar is very professional and friendly with exceptional customer service. After picking up my boots, payment time came when I tried to pay with card, he said cash only - no problem, I didn't have the full cash needed but he told me to come back with the rest next time, then he said not to worry about it. I assured him I would return with the rest of the cash to pay for the repair when he said "don't worry, you can pay me back next time." If this isn't exceptional customer service, I don't know what is. I will absolutely be returning for future repairs and 100% recommend him for your shoe/boot repair needs. The owner of the place is one of the most honest people I've ever met. My family and I have been taking shoes to him for well over 15 years. He will tell me point blank if it is worth repairing my shoe or if I am better off purchasing a new one. He does such clean and excellent work and his pricing is lower than what I have found so far. I took a pair of Christian Louboutin's to another local shoe repair, I had called and asked how much to re sole my heels and they had quoted me a price, when I took in my Louboutin's the guy literally tripled the price because he claimed " those are expensive shoes." I will never go anywhere else for shoe or bag repair. I brought Oscar 2 pairs of shoes and a backpack and needed one heel replaced and two zippers fixed. Not only did he do a beautiful job fixing everything, he walked me through exactly what he needed to do first, what would need to be replaced, and how much everything would cost before I agreed to it. He added zipper stoppers in a color that made the shoe look even better, and the heel he fixed is indistinguishable from the other one (see photo for comparison; they are only dirty because the photo is after I went hiking in them). The backpack was a complicated fix, but he worked with me to find a solution I'd be happy with. To top it off, he cleaned and polished my leather boots for free, and he always brightens my day when I go in and chat. He's a very smart man. I haven't been here in a while and I was sorta in the area and needed a key cut and remember that the owner did this so I stopped by. I had two special key blanks that I brought with me and he looked one and told me it wouldn't work as it wasn't the correct blank so I got back In the car and realize the second one was actually the correct blank and brought it back in and he immediately started waving me away with a scowl on his face saying he won't cut any keys that aren't from his blanks..I used to be a regular here and I guess he didn't recognize me with my mask but he was just SO RUDE. I took two pairs of shoes to fix the heels that were pretty much shredded and coming apart. When I received them back they were in tip top condition and beautifully repaired. You can tell the owner takes pride in the work he does. Ultimately I never met Oscar but his son Mike took care of me from the moment I walked in till the moment I picked up my shoes. He even called me to give me an update on pricing and the time they would be ready. I think its quality customer service that you don't get anymore from anywhere. If there were more stars available I'd use 'em. Oscar is a joy: so friendly and really understands that customer satisfaction is more than just fixing whatever shoe problem you bring in. I had a bad experience with another shoe repair shop in Glendale who shall remain nameless: I took in a pair of boots with a block heel where one of the heels was separating. The woman working was not friendly, quotes me $40 (!!!!!) to fix both heels, and expected payment in advance. I should have taken my business elsewhere but the place was close to my job and I didn't feel like running around to different places. The job was average. I had a shoe emergency (broken strap on day 2 of wearing them) and also a purse with a broken strap so I returned to Yelp to find a better shoe repair shop. Oscar's reviews speak for themselves so I took my items to him and he showed me why my shoe broke and assessed my purse and explained that the metal piece that he would replace wouldn't be the exact color of the existing one but he'd match it as closely as possible. Price quote: $14! $7 to fix the shoe and $7 for the purse and he said he'll only take payment when the job was done and I was smiling at the results. I returned to pick up my items today and am so happy with his excellent work! Oscar reinforced not just the broken strap but all 4 with nails so there will be no more accidents and my purse looks like new, I can't even tell which strap was broken. He's a really nice guy, really inexpensive, and extremely fast. *Extremely* old-school. How old-school? On the inside, he sells a handful of leather belts and random items. He also does keys. If you ask him to sing, I bet he would sing. Etc. Shops like his make me wish that all retail magically reverted to whatever it was in 1940. In any case, he fixed my shoe perfectly - it needed quite a bit of stitching and some leather buffing. He did all of it and charged me five dollars. :blink: I almost feel bad when I'm charged so little. So go to his shop. And his hours are 8:30 to 5. read more

Old shop, old fashion service! I went in to get a zipper repaired an a motorcycle boot. Job well done for just $12. When I pulled out my debit card the owner apologized and showed me a sign buried under some papers on the counter that said Cash Only. As I didn't have enough cash on me I was told very nicely to take my boot with me and come back tomorrow to pay for it. When was the last time someone trusted a new customer like this? I went to run some errands, wearing my repaired boot mind you, and came back with cash within the hour to pay the shop. This was my first visit to Glenoaks Shoe Repair, but it definitely won't be the last. I took Oscar a battered leather Kate Spade purse I've had for almost 15 years and he made it look like NEW. Replaced the magnet/snap closure and restitched perfectly, and re-colored and polished the leather (which is an unusual color, very hard to match) beautifully. Not only that, but the pricing was very reasonable - $45 for the entire job (the closure repair being $10 of that). He was very up front about the cost and how long it would take, as well. I had honestly just about given up on being able to save the bag and Oscar did it! He is a true craftsman, an honest businessman, and a kind person - so glad to have a trusted place in the neighborhood to take my business! read more

This place was fabulous! I'm not the type to keep shoes that are worn.. But I have a pair of Michael Kors that I love, and are the most comfy shoes for work and play.. So I keep them around. One of the heels' sole was exposed and the steel was making a clicking sound every time I stepped, so I checked out yelp to see where I could get a quick fix. Found this spot and made my way over. The owner was great! Super helpful and accommodating. $6 to fix. Would be ready in 2 days. Perfect! I didn't pick up my shoes for about a week, but he had them polished and ready when I arrived! Hands down the best place for shoe repair that I've been to. Great job at a great price! The gentleman that works there is so nice and knows so much about shoes. I had some suede boots that were extremely slippery (especially in the rain) and I came in to have non-slip patches put on. The minute he took a look at them after I explained what was going on, he told me that the problem was actually the plastic heel that the shoes were made with, so he expertly replaced them with rubber ones and I haven't slipped in them since! Not only did he change out the heels (and save me some money from buying those patches), but he also refinished them so they looked almost new. On top of all that, I brought in two other pairs of shoes to be repaired and he gave me a deal because I brought so many in. Definitely definitely definitely recommend. read more
