He to cut my hair in any way that in no way resembled the numerous pictures I showed him, left a huge cut on my ear that bled for the entire appointment, and broke my earrings. The quality of this service was honestly not good at all, and my ear has been bleeding for almost 2 hours now. I am sad to say my relationship with Helen's is over now. The conversation I can describe - at best - as minimal. He saw me wearing a mask when I came in, and he put one on so I could feel comfortable taking mine off when he cut around my ears. The cut was $18 - I may have over tipped since they only take cash and I didn't have change and needed to rush out to answer a call. My overall impression - I've had better hair cuts, and I've spent A LOT more on them too. I'll probably come back since my go-to (which used to be on the way home from work) is now a bit too far out of the way, and I do love supporting local businesses.

After an illness which left my hair a mess, at a friend's recommendation I booked an appointment…read morewith the owner, Maria. I was still wheelchair bound at that point and Maria was very kind and accommodating. Initially I just wanted my hair cut very short so I could manage it. The charge was $70 (+20% tip) which was more than I'd paid anywhere else for a cut (usually $35-45) and blow dry, but the salon is close by and convenient, so be it. Once my hair grew back to where I needed a cut and styling that I could handle, I went back to Maria. I asked for color, partial hilites, and cut. I showed her a picture of me with the color and cut I wanted. Maria never quoted me a price but during the almost three hour appointment, did several processes on my hair. She claimed she was doing the hilites at the same time as the color. (I never could actually see the hilites). When my husband came to pick me up Maria took my credit card and I was shocked to see a charge of $360. I'd never paid more than $155 elsewhere for cut and color. Rather than make a fuss and upset my husband, I not only paid the $360 but added a tip to make it $400. Maria said I needed a Keritin treatment at my next visit so I figured at least another $200. Over the weeks after my visit, my brown color began to turn red. I called Maria and she told me to come in to fix it. When I did, she used a darker shade and added a "glaze" which she said would stabilize the color. As I went to leave, thinking there'd be no charge for the fix, Maria asked for my card. I protested that it was her service that was at fault, but she countered that I'd waited too long to call her. This time just for repairing the color, the charge was $130 (obviously no tip!!) So, I have paid a total of $530 to Hilites. I spoke to a friend who is also a hairdresser in Las Vegas who advised me against a Keritin treatment since my hair is short and grows fast. I left the salon feeling angry and duped. As Maria was doing all those treatments during my second appointment she should have itemized the cost of each and I probably should have asked. But I was thinking it would probably come to @$200. And she certainly should not have charged me for the fix of my color. I do not recommend this salon to anyone. I believe Maria works to build big bills. I noticed at least two other reviews similar to mine.
