Funny experience this morning. I walked into this place for a haircut. There were two barbers and two men getting haircuts. I sat in the waiting area for 20 or so minutes before another person walked in. I observed a very lackadaisical pace about things. No sense of urgency to get through the process. When the teenager walked in the female barber asked him if he had an appointment and he said yes with the male barber. It took a few more minutes for him to ask if I had an appointment. When I replied no he said that he had an opening about and hour plus later. The female barber who looked over at me several times while I was waiting never said a word. I got up said no thanks and rolled out. I mean WTF, it's a barbershop not a beauty salon. I have a short normal hair cut. A clip sides and back with a quick clean up on the top takes 10 minutes tops. Anyway no sense to ramble on further! Thank you for wasting 20 minutes of my time. read more

Fine for a high and tight but don't expect anything else. Ive been there twice with medium length hair, said I wanted to keep it shaggy, just a little off the back and sides. I got a marine's cut. Clean place, people are nice enough but they don't listen. read more

I emailed the salon and asked the mask policy. I got a reply that someone would answer me within 24 hours. No one ever answered, but I took a chance and went there. I took my son for a cut. The lady at the front desk didn't wear a mask the entire time. There is a sign on the door saying they're required, but they apparently are not. If you don't care about masks it's fine. If you have a child who hasn't been into a store since March because he's immunocompromised maybe they matter more. To me, they matter. Personal opinion but I won't be going back. I'm sure everyone there is nice, but don't have a sign saying they're required then let your employees not wear one. read more

Gisselle is phenomenal. Since I moved out to MD, I've been looking for a great barber shop and Gisselle runs the best in the area. I can't comment on the rest of the staff but don't book an appointment with Kimmie unless you have a lot of time to waste. I was told I had to wait for two other people before me on my last two visits there. What is the point of booking an appointment if you have to wait for 40 minutes or more in a very crammed environment. She's very unprofessional and unreliable. On another occasion this year she didn't even show up to work and I wasn't notified until I got there. She has very poor work habits for someone that has supposedly been a stylist for 14 years. I wish I didn't have to make this review as it is a local owned small business, but like another recent reviewer I brought my son in for a haircut and covid rules were out the window as soon as you step inside the building. During the entirety of our visit, the receptionist, an adult client, and the OWNER were not wearing face masks - not even a mask in sight. Somehow, my 3 year old was able to keep his mask on but three adults couldn't. As only 50% of the people in the room were wearing masks in such a small confined area, I was very uncomfortable. I don't know these people and the fact that clients from the community come in and out all day makes it worse. I am dumbfounded that the OWNER of Headmasters was one of the individuals not wearing a mask. It's astounding the lack of respect and concern for the health and well-being of not only her clients but the surrounding community. read more

I decided to drive to sykesville, MD from silver spring , MD and try HeadMasters as I have tried the $100 DC hair cut and some of the other man cave barbers . When I arrived i was immediately greeted and was offered water, wine or beer . The shop is very inviting with a lot of exposed brick , hard wood floors and refurbished antique barbers chairs . My barber was Ms.Bryce , she asked a few questions and then preceded to give me a great haircut . So to recap, great atmosphere pleasant staff and a very good haircut including a shampoo, warm facial towel and shoulder massage. I was given the first time customer price of $17 , needless to say I'll be returning . read more

Did a walk in here on 12/23/2016 while I was in town to spend Christmas with my girlfriend's family. Had a very brief wait, which was awesome because when I tried to book an appointment online, everything had been booked. I was set up with Bryce Suter, who instantly made my day by offering a complementary drink. They have soda, wine, and beer here for free. My haircut with her turned out great. I asked for a tapered fade and an inch off of the top with a tasteful accented part. This whole process only took about 15 minutes and cost $17. The overall experience was great: fun conversation and a great ambience. They have a great bench of barbers and stylists ranging from younger and more hip stylists like Bryce and classic barbers like the gentleman in the front on the right. I've never been here, but my fiancé goes to Christina. She is the BEST! I get to reap the rewards of seeing an awesome haircut on my fiancé. She does a spectacular job! Maybe you are aware, men don't always get good haircuts, but he gets an excellent one! It's so good, that as it grows out, it still looks great! Very disappointed with this place I got a $19 haircut instead of $24 because it was my first time. When I arrived they offered me wine. I barely got a sip when the stylist rushed me upstairs to get a seven minute haircut. She then took me downstairs for a wash. The electric massager was nice but the stylist didn't even use conditioner and put a boiling hot towel on my face and then Took me back upstairs. I never got The promised blow dry and ended up taking the rest of my wine with me. So much for customer service. The haircut sucked too, my regular stylist said it would take a while to be able to fix it. read more

We've been customers here since opening. Service has always been excellent. Even when they got rid of the "7th haircut free" bonus and related it with "50% off your 7th service" we remained loyal. Recently however, service has changed and I'm not a fan. We're in fairly frequently (every 4 weeks) and for the last several appointments (booked in advance) we've shown up and had to wait anywhere from 10-20 minutes. That said, we'd still recommend Kimmie and Giselle, but be prepared to wait. And wait. And wait. read more

This was our first time coming to this salon. My husband's haircut came out pretty decent and we were in and out in no time. However, I noticed his barber was having a tough time reaching certain areas because the chairs seem to be unusually high. She kept asking my husband to slouch. He has a bad back so I didn't appreciate that. Is there a reason for this? I've never seen anything like that. It's quite absurd. read more

First time at Headmasters was a horrible experience and will never return. Called and made an appointment for a little boys haircut. The man, Carmen acted as if he had no idea how to cut hair. He didn't wet the hair, barely cut it then told me that he never cuts children's hair! He claimed that only the women do that. I complained to the girl at the front desk and she stated that he frequently cuts children's hair, then just stared at me. The entire experience was ridiculous and am still shaking my head. I usually get the "Man on the go", which is just a quick cut but they offer many other services. And free beer :) Chelsi cuts my hair and does an awesome job but all of their stylists seem great. You can book an appointment online and they took us on time. My son loved that they offered him a soda when he got there for his appointment. They were quick and did a great job. Poor haircut. Not going to blast the barber by providing his name, speed was too fast, edges were a mess (the kind you go home and clean up yourself). I have a full head of hair, didn't thin it. We used to drive down to Cartoon Cuts in Columbia, but with Headmasters so much closer and a MUCH better experience, there's no reason to go to Cartoon Cuts anymore. We love this place: both my son and my husband now get their hair cut here, it's cheaper for kids than CC and there are no screaming kids. Men can get a pedicure/manicure, watch some sports, have coffee and the staff is very friendly. It's a win-win for all and no-brainer for us. Much better than those other hair salons purported to be for men. Love this place. read more

I've been coming here now for probably close to two years and can honestly say I've never had a bad experience. There prices are reasonable and the same as many other places that offer no where near the same quality of service. When you walk in the shop is very bright and welcoming, the same way they greet you. I would recommend calling and getting an appointment as they can get pretty busy, but I do know they offer walk in service. I don't think you can go wrong with anyone there as the owner seems to be very hands on. I always set my appointments with Bryce, she does a fantastic job! Bryce remembers how I like my hair cut, does an amazing shampoo (which you're just cheating yourself if you don't get) and just makes the "chore" of getting a haircut turn into a pleasure. So if you haven't stopped in to try them out you should and when you do ask for Bryce, you won't be disappointed. Also make sure you get one of the stamp card things, you earn free haircuts after so many. read more
