This is a somewhat bustling big salon nestled in a fancy shopping center so I wasn't able to get a same day pedicure appointment. I did however get a cut and color from color me crazy Sara Bear (booked two days prior from a app) and I noticed that other hair stylists inside seemed capable as I studied the clients that were leaving the salon. I was only there for less than two hours and during that time I only saw a limited amount of finished clients and they were mostly mature ladies such as myself with conservative hairstyles. The receptionist, who was also a stylist confided to me that she got her cuts elsewhere haha. Sara specializes in color and I loved that she was able to see me right away even if it was later in the evening. She usually gets booked up during the morning and afternoon. For now I requested an even all over copper shade, but I look forward to booking with her again for some funner dual shades. She was an absolute sweetheart and gave me exactly what I requested. It was just a quick trim to give it a tad bit of shape and eliminate unhealthy ends but I was stunned by how silky and soft she made my hair and I accidentally repeated incorrect zip codes for my credit card. Horrible horrible! Just look at the picture. Walked in, asked for price ($18) since we're new in town, and they probably directed to the worst hair stylist in the salon. I had asked for a mohawk (that was her Mohawk cut) and she even said it was perfectly aligned; that it was just me not seeing it correctly I then said "well, let's just cut it off" and she got exhausted and said "oh now you're changing your mind". Glitz salon is a Hidden Gem !!!! Needed my grey roots gone and a good haircut. I highly recommend Desiree she was amazing reasonable priced FAST !! I have very thick hair and hairdressers usually give me the you have a lot of hair. Well I normally spend 4 hours tops. She had my hair color cut in under 2 hours she knows her stuff. Moved to Bakersfield almost a year ago. I had been going to my hair dresser back home for 15+ years before moving here. It's hard to trust anyone with a haircut. This review rating is more about who I go to versus the actual salon. Since I am also a hairdresser my judgment is slightly different than regular customers judgment. The area is a good central area that it's located in. Lots of good shopping nearby and good restaurants nearby. The shop is older but it functions perfectly. Stylist pretty much keep to themselves. There's a smoking area to the back. It has comfortable salon chairs. What is confusing is the clothing and retail they sell in the front. I've never really seen that before in salons over 25 years. I would be giving this a three star but because Desiree who I go to is so amazing at what she does, it boosts the stars up big time. ;) if you're looking for a great color, cut, or extensions call Desiree!!! read more

My daughter got a haircut by Linda Lang and she butchered my daughter's hair. She was extremely rude to my daughter and refused to fix her bangs that are obviously crooked. I had to drop my daughter off because my son is too little to have waiting in a salon. My daughter's phone died and Linda refused to let my daughter use her phone and the receptionist also refused to let her phone me as well when she was done. They let a 14 year old young girl wander out of the salon to find a phone to call me! Luckily, I came back to the salon to check how she was doing and she was standing in the shopping center afraid because nobody would let her phone me! Paulina Pyles at Glitz Salon is a true hair artist. Paulina's attention to detail and keen eye keep me and my unruly hair current. Paulina not only takes time to make sure I look my best, she shows me how to maintain my look. Paulina is ALWAYS on time and gets me in and out, understanding I don't always have time to sit for hours whilst getting my hair done. So I have been going to Linda Lang basically my entire life along with my dad and sister. She is an amazing hair dresser and knows exactly what she is doing. I can say with confidence that whenever I leave her chair I honestly look my best. My sister is almost consistently difficult to deal with and Linda always calms her down and talks her out of crazy hair styles or dye jobs that would most likely leave her bald. Linda deserves a metal for that alone. As kids our dad would drop us off and later pick up happy daughters with healthy and beautiful hair. Now that I am older and have a daughter of my own I would feel more than comfortable leaving her with the honest and talented Linda Lang. She is a great stylist for all ages. read more
