I just had a small rug cleaned ( a bit smaller than 3'x5') and it came out perfect. This was a rug I inherited from my parents and it was at least 30 years and almost certainly had never been cleaned before. It had been in storage for several years so had acquired a musty smell, and it also had some damage where some of the threads had separated. Now it looks brand new and smells great (well, as great as wool can smell). I did not shop around to compare prices but I feel I got my money's worth given the quality of the job. Excellent! You can trust Sam and his team to treat your carpet with care and make it look as great as it can! Also, pickup and delivery are hassle free--no one pushing you to exchange your antique hand-woven rug for a new machine-made one for "free"! ("You don't want an old rug, do you?" --Yes, I do, obviously.") It took me wasted time to convince that delivery man that I didn't want him to take my newly cleaned rug and exchange it for a rug of lesser value. I had recommended this other cleaning service (next town north from Global Rug), to a friend based on smaller rugs that I could deliver and pick up myself. She had the same problem when her antique rug was delivered. So for too long I was hesitant about having my rugs cleaned. Thank goodness for Global Rug. Also, one can order high-quality felt/rubber padding at Global Rug. The previous rug pad I could have purchased at Home Depot for much less, had I desired such junk. read more

I cannot express how disappointed and upset I am with this place. I called them last Friday, explained my situation, that a rare heirloom rug from my Grandmother had some small holes and needed careful repair. I made it very clear that I need a consultation and asked if a time between noon and 1 p.m. on Monday would work. A very nice lady on the phone assured me that the owner would be there. I took time from work and drove to the shop, bringing my at least 50 years old, but recently cleaned rug. Based on all previous reviews, I believed my treasure would be given a good treatment. I was met by two young men. One of them grabbed my rug and tried carelessly unroll it on a floor right at the entrance. I almost screamed: "Oh, no! This rug is clean, do not put in on a dirty floor". Than the man lifted the rug and started to pull it across the dirty floor, allowing one corner to drug unbalanced. I was terrified seeing my Grandma's rug being used for sweeping a floor. I wanted to leave immediately. Then an older man came by and said that the owner was coming. I, still hoping for the best, described the situation to the audience again, saying that I need a specialist to explain to me if the rug is repairable and what options are available. The young man suggested that I leave the rug in the store, so later someone would contact me with an estimate. I explained one more time, that I needed to speak with the owner/specialist. The older man replied that an owner never comes before 3 P.M. and that I had better come around 5 P.M. I couldn't leave my rug with people who treated it so badly, even while I watched. I was afraid to even imagine what they could do to it later if given an opportunity. So, even though I tried to arrange the consultation upfront, the whole trip to Mountain View was for nothing. These people do not care about their prospective customers' time or feelings, or about properly caring for their customers heirlooms. I could never recommend this place. read more

I had the option of returning it, but because I loved it so much, decided to research the possibility of getting it shortened. While we were out of town, my cat, in defiance, peed repeatedly on our oriental carpet. My attempts to clean it with an enzyme cleaner made the colors run, and it still stunk! In desperation I called around to many different oriental rug cleaners. Sam at Global Rug was the only one who guaranteed that he could get the smell out, or else we didn't have to pay. We had my favorite Oaxacan tapete cleaned and repaired here recently. It had a large gash right in the middle, and I was so happy to find a shop that could clean and reweave it!
