Really wish I would've got a picture because the tamales here instead of being in cornhusk are in banana leafs. All of which was very good. I'm a big fan of places bringing a semi-upscale experience to Mexican cuisine. Gloria's is one of these places. The interior is polished and brings out the manners your mama taught you. The carne asada was prime and savory with some actually enjoyable and fresh black refried beans (most places cheap out on the beans). The rice here is enjoyable but I feel like is playing it a little safe. They could step up the Latin flavor in the rice. Great side plantains tho. We had such a delicious visit this time! From the moment we walked in for our late lunch around 3 p.m. until the time we left, everything was really, really good. The hostess stand was warm and welcoming, and we were seated immediately. It was just me and my daughter enjoying a little day together after her appointment nearby, and I'm so glad we decided to stop by. I've always loved this location -- the aesthetics are beautiful, and the greenery throughout the restaurant creates such a refreshing and inviting atmosphere. We started with the cheese pupusas, and they were amazing! My daughter (who's in culinary at school) had actually made pupusas in her kitchen lab that same day, so she convinced me we had to try them -- and she was right. They were absolutely delicious and the perfect appetizer to share. For our entrées, she ordered the chicken enchiladas with rice and beans and said they were really good. I had the garden green salad topped with grilled shrimp and grilled chicken -- so flavorful! The sauce on the salad was amazing, and I also ordered chimichurri on the side, which made it even better. Brought my family here for my birthday celebration and left quite disappointed. I was excited for them to try this because I've had excellent food and service before, but service was lacking and food was mediocre. There were seven of us that showed up at 4 PM on Saturday. They weren't busy but took a while to get the table. My two children were with me and after asking a fourth time, I finally got a highchair, but they still didn't bring the booster seat for my son. I ordered the enchiladas and a mango margarita. The enchiladas à la Gloria were barely warm and the tortilla was tough and dry. My mango margarita was not good. I took four sips and that was it. My mother-in-law ordered the seafood soup, and it was scalding hot. She couldn't even eat it until the rest of us were already done. First time trying this place, my friends tried 2 weeks ago and told me this was a must try. Pulling up to bldg it has a very upscale look and once inside very nice, modern and up scale look. Plenty of parking and this place is huge inside and with patio with plenty of tables and booths. And seats are padded and comfy. Once I started reviewing the menu prices are very good and I was shocked lower then what I expected from first impression of bldg and how inside looks so I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered Lechón Asado (pork tenderloin) the only odd thing and I was a little disappointed (as waiter could not answer my question before ordering) I was expecting a normal slice of pork tenderloin which should have looked like a thick pork chop off the bone. But you can see by my pic it appears as if the filleted the tenderloin so it is flat like chicken Milanesa. But with that said the pork was still juicy for the most part and tasted great. There was a tangy sauce under that tasted good and also a cup of black bean soup, plantain, fried Yucca..and all those tasted great also but wish they would of given a small amount of crema for the plantain. My 2 friends ordered the Mar y Tierrat (sirloin and shrimp) and pollo asada (chicken breast) and both stated everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. Staff is very nice and friendly and service was really good. Not rushed but not slow, and they checked on us often and refilled our drinks, chips and dips. If you review the menu they have Salvadoran items Pupusa, soups and tamales and then they have the typical Tex-Mex and a brunch menu. Atmosphere, the atmosphere here is very cool. Very chill and unique. It is definitely a minimalist but unique experience feel. Parking - parking is a shared lot and there isn't a ton of it. But my entire group was headed easy in and out and no big issues parking. Food, the food itself, I mostly enjoyed.I did the trio of sevice and also did some drinks.I found that they were very affordably priced during happy hour, and the saviches were interesting as they were very dramatically different.I didn't love them all, but I did enjoy trying them all. Value, the value I would say, is not a place I would go to every weeknight, but it is something that I believe is an experience where you should give the place a shot. Service, so there are definitely pros and cons that we had with servers for our particular server. He was very, very slow to come back to us, which was very frustrating. Always passed by this place in midtown but never went. Now that the woodlands branch opened I had no excuse not to. It's a bright new place inside. Good sized parking lot. Right off I-45. The waitstaff was very nice. The manager also stopped by to make sure everything was good. Lunch specials were two pages. Got the fajitas and they were tasty. I like the complimentary chips. It comes with a green sauce a red salsa and a bean dip. The churros were worth the cheat and filled with custard and chocolate. Our waiter even offered a Togo cup refill for the ride home. This was by first time at this location. It's a beautiful restaurant and I love the vibe. We were sat outside. It was a nice day. We got there in time for the half-priced bottles of champagne. I recently decided to try Gloria's at a different time of day. Weekday, bar seating, an hour before close. Truth be told, I came by because I wanted a brownie, but I sat at the bar and ate a full meal like a responsible adult. They did all the things. Friendly bartender, manager stopped by to check in, and I was greeted promptly. While the experience was delightful, the food left a lot to be desired (which was surprising given my previous visits). I generally order their queso, but tonight I was served a different queso (check out the pictures from my last review vs. this one). I cannot remember the previous dishes I've tried by name, but I do remember they were delicious. This trip I tried the tilapia, and although the portion was huge it could have used a lot more seasoning on the fish itself. I did order my brownie! Visiting 3 times, I've had it served at 3 different textures. The first, perfectly fudgy with frost bitten icy ice cream, the second even more fudgy with rich, smooth vanilla ice cream, and the third (tonight) much drier/cakier brownie than the first two with smooth,rich ice cream. I do like a majority of the food I try there, however, consistency could be improved. read more

We popped in for a late lunch on Mother's Day. As expected, it was really busy, but since we had a small party, we were seated quickly. The service was good--our server was clearly juggling a lot, but still maintained a kind and upbeat attitude, which we appreciated. My parents split the chicken and beef fajitas and raved about how delicious they were. I had the aguachile for the second time (first time dining in), and while it wasn't quite as flavorful as before, I'm chalking it up to the hectic Mother's Day rush. I also ordered a Moscow mule mocktail that hit the spot--refreshing and exactly what I needed. My mother LOVED the cuatro leches cake, that made her day! And of course, the chips and trio of salsas were as amazing as always! Overall, it was a good experience. The energy was a bit chaotic due to the holiday crowd, but that's to be expected and not the restaurant's fault. I had a pretty good experience at Gloria's. The vibe was really fancy and nice & the food was good. I will say, nothing blew me away & it was a bit pricy. But the ambiance was super cool! I got the pollo asado combinado and it was pretty good. The rice and beans were good, but I wish the chicken was a bit more tender or flavorful. I will say the chips and salsa(a) were really good. Why 4 stars? Because the food was fine, but the price was the star of the show. --- --- --- We eat out a lot and spend way too much money doing so. Inflation has really screwed up the economy, and food seems to have been affected as much or more than anything else. With that, restaurants with razor thing margins have had to balloon their prices, and just about every time we sit down to eat somewhere, the bill seems to comes to triple digits. At Gloria's, I was in complete awe of the prices on the menu. I think the most expensive dish on the entire menu was $27 or $28, with most items under $20. Our bill was under $70 before tip and I almost passed out when I saw that. I feel like I could spend $70 at Five Guys these days. Anyway, here's what we ate... all of it fitting perfectly into the 4-star range: -Chips and Queso: I would say this queso was better than most! -Beef + Chicken Fajitas: Maybe the sacrifice of a lower bill is that you don't get the fajitas sizzling as they come to the table. I really only cared about the beef, which I thought was fine/solid. But my wife really enjoyed the chicken. I really dug the rice and beans! -Mixed Enchiladas: The shrimp were the best, in my opinion. The others were just fine. The space in here is also really nice! I would label it "classy IKEA". I'm from the Palm Springs area originally and this place mirrors that same high end design/ vibe minus the $50 a plate and $20 drink like PS. We were in the area and stopped here for lunch. I was amazed with their ceviche trio appetizer the food was super yummy. I can't say it taste super authentic, but it has good taste! The place is decorated with a lot of natural plants everywhere and due to that there were small little flies bothering me throughout the whole time I was eating. So let's break it down by what we ordered. HH house frozen and house on the rocks margaritas......... $7...... not a fan due to the tequila that is used for their house margarita. It's a bottom shelf called Monte Alban Reposado..... extremely rough taste and have had better house margaritas versus this one. Tbh the house margarita was featured on an online article as a must try in Houston along with other local places but after tasting it and tasting the quality, I was extremely disappointed! I'd recommend you stick with a top shelf margaritas since the regular house margarita is $12 regular priced and the premium margaritas top shelf are around $15/$17. Needless to say I was not a fan of the margaritas! Fajitas for two! Simply juicy, seared, and loaded on a bed on onions! The platter comes with refried beans, rice, guacamole, tortillas, and cheese! The food was very good and for $30 fajitas for two! I'd do it again every time! The service was great we sat at the bar and the complimentary chips, salsas, and beans were good! I've been waiting for this Gloria's location to open for months. I was desperately craving their complimentary bean dip (which I would love the recipe for Gloria's ) Our service was attentive and quick, the ambience is so good! Beautiful interiors and the music was at just the right volume. The food was great. We ordered the snapper tacos, mariscada, trio ceviche, and chicken tacos. The churros we ordered for dessert were the only thing that didn't land well. The ice cream came to the table already melted and the churros themselves were extremely doughy on the inside. If those two things can be fixed, it would have been a perfect meal. Can't wait to return. Sadly this location will not have the live music or salsa dancing :( I'm sure due to some weird Woodlands regulations. read more

We were seated on the patio and were greeted by our waitress right away. We ordered pork Pupusas to start which were wonderful but very filling. They brought tortilla chips with 3 dipping sauces. I ordered the chicken fajitas without cheese or sour cream. They offered me double guacamole instead. Yes, please. The fajitas were very good, and the tortillas were house made. My daughter ordered the Mariscada which was a seafood soup, and it was fabulous, she let me try it. It was loaded with perfectly cooked seafood and the booth was so tasty. I tried this place and it is a toss up to score 3.5-4.5. First the decor and buildout is mediocre at best. The space is functional but reminded me of a Luby's. Very large inside and the furnishings are plain. But it was clean and certainly enough space to move around. The menu provided a wide variety of choices that included a few surprises. The service was very good but not great. The attention was great by servers and management. What was really good was: The meal. They do a really nice job with their quality, presentation and service. Gloria's Latin Cuisine has become our go-to spot--our little "every couple of weeks" tradition with one or two other families. The wait? Barely exists. Even on busier nights, we're seated before the kids can ask, "Is it gonna be long?" And the drinks? They tend to beat us to the table, which is exactly the kind of service you want when corralling a group. The food never misses. We always leave full, happy, and already planning the next visit.
