Very good crawfish. I enjoyed my Cajun Asian fusion. And the Vietnamese lemonade was good. It was just Perrier and lemonade. We also enjoyed the grits, okra, and red beans and rice. We were visiting Orange Pocket (again) and decided to pop in here for a late night snack. Wasn't really in the mood for a whole meal so got a couple of appetizers - the crawfish cheesebread and the crawfish beignets. They both taste pretty much like they look in the pics. Although I was told they're different, I kinda felt the filling of the beignets tasted too similar to the topping of the cheesebread, such that I'd probably opt for just one or the other next time. Staff was friendly. Outside tables were wobbly. We changed tables only to find the new table was equally as wobbly. Their menu has wings, poboys and fried seafood platters. Boil Combo 1 ($21.99) We usually just get several of these. 1 pound crawfish, 1/2 pound headless shrimp, corn, potato; holy grail spicy Excellent flavor! Shrimp have been consistently big and plump. Love that they are not overcooked. Crawfish is hit or miss on size. Calamari ($11.99) Used to be better with larger squid pieces. Last two times I ordered this, it was a lot of small pieces. Probably won't be getting this again, which is sad because it used to be really good. Fries ($5.99) The fries here are really good. Crispy exterior, soft interior, great seasoning. Kids meal popcorn shrimp ($7.99) Strongly advise against. The shrimp were extremely small and it was pretty much all batter. The fries were good at least! Garlic noodles ($12.99) Great garlic noodles! Even better if you add in a little holy grail sauce and some protein from your boil. This is a staple for us. The food is really. I have eaten here 2 times and this review is my third time. The first two were take out and this time I ate in. I normally get the fried crawfish platter and sweet potato fries. The catfish and shrimp are available blackened for all the fried platters. The side of fried rice has bits of egg, green onion, bell peppers, and slim sausage half moons. It's less fried rice and more tossed hot rice mix. The side of garlic noodles comes thickly coated with garlic-butter and cheese. I've been here several times now and they never disappoint. Never a long wait, service is always friendly and the food is consistently delicious! I appreciate their variety and price friendly options as well. Some of my favorite dishes are the smack bowls, fresh boiled seafood bags and newly introduced crawfish beignets. I first tried these at a festival in The Woodlands last year (thanks Yelp!), so I'm DEFINITELY glad this is a staple on the menu. Drinks are refreshing as well. I've been an avid follower of the restaurant ever since they opened up the first location on Bellaire (iykyk) and was stoked to see that one of my favorite places to eat opened up on the northside of town. WOOHOO! Love to see some Viet-Cajun representation. The food was delicious as always. If you're on the fence about wich flavor to get - get the grail. It's my absolute fav. For some reason I just can't help but feel the original location is always the best. Still really good regardless. The service could use some work. Our server was friendly and welcoming but the issues started further down the line. When my food came to the table, it was already kind of cold... giving the impression that it sat in the kitchen for a fat minute before being dropped off at the table. The second issue is that once the food was dropped off at the table, it was really difficult to flag down a server. It was also really discouraging to see servers almost try to avoid eye contact with us. On multiple occasions, we'd successfully flag down a server only for them to say we need to flag down our orginal server instead and then walk away.... Luckily we didn't need too much assistance, so we finished our food and went on our merry way. The food is awesome, I'd reccomend this place to anyone and everyone. If the team could work on imnproving the customer service, this place would be a 10/10. read more

My niece flew in from the UK and has never tried crawfish or crabs. This place came to mind because I had recently gone to an event and saw them and tried their crawfish beignets. They were sooo delicious. At the event I received two coupons that said I'd get a beignet with a $20 purchase so I brought them. As expected for a Saturday night, the place was packed, couldn't even get parking near the restaurant. The restaurant was busy but we got seated in no time because people were going and coming. Since she's just trying and we aren't sure what she'd like we got what she knew she would like which is wings and fries. Then we ordered two different boil combo. Combo 2 and 3 with addition of sausage. She liked the flavors of the sauces but one of the boils didn't have much sauce, it was too dry but our server quickly got us some when asked. We showed the coupons for the beignets and he said he'd never seen those before and would get more info from his manger which he did and brought us 6, 3 for each coupon, which was more than I expected but I appreciated because they are so good! Drinks were fine had the frozen margs and a New Orleans lemonade and diet cokes. Loved the playful paper on the table. We played tic tac toe while we waited in between meals. Kids were able to draw and color with crayons and they also had cartoons on the tvs for the kids and sports on others for adults. Music was on but it wasn't overbearing. My husband and I had date night here earlier and it was absolutely incredible. He ordered the Red Beans and Rice as well as the Salt and Pepper Wings while I had the Smack Pack. We were blown away by how delicious the salt and pepper wings were. Honestly, they might be the best wings we've ever had, EVER. Perfectly cooked, delightful crunch, and the FLAVOR was otherworldly. Best thing I ate was the fries from my kids meal. The crawfish was overcooked and the flavors were lacking. Don't get me wrong, tons of flavor but was missing something that makes you want more. This was the first time ever that I didn't want to finish my crawfish, my husband did. We also had the Vietnamese chargrilled oysters and those seemed like a bad copy of the ones at Cajun Kitchen. The food was pretty good. I'm from New Orleans so I can be pretty tough on Cajun food. Not to mention I'm a home chef (@504cookhouse). I can say the good thing is when they say catfish it's really catfish. The gumbo is a hard "NO". The fried flounder was really good. I wanted to like these garlic butter noodles but I just didn't like them. The stuffed beignets was ok but I'm comparing to home. ( It's not really a beignet but it's good to taste). The service was good they are a little slow to serve the food but it was ok bc it was a Friday night date night. We enjoyed the atmosphere. Pretty laid back and casual with good laughter. Very hard to peel & barely able to extract any meat. The place has a lot of potential, though. The garlicky Viet-Cajun seasoning/sauce in the boil was finger licking delicious. The shrimp were excellent (jumbo size, cooked perfectly & super easy to peel).... They also have really good apps & appetizers (light & crispy okra, phenomenal garlic noodles & yummy rice plates). The venue is clean & well-kept (a hand washing station conveniently accessible to customers) & attentive service. ...but ugh, what a lousy batch of crawfish. Disappointing. Wife and I went for lunch on a Wednesday. Maybe 15-20 customers there. I ordered some crawfish. Wife got a shrimp meal. Food was good. Crawfish were large, clean and well cooked. My wife loved her shrimp with fried rice meal. Waitress was very nice. She made some good suggestions. Prices are high for lunch. 3lbs of crawfish, my wife's meal and 2 cocktails was almost $100. I probably would have went 4 stars but one of my biggest pet peeves is when meals are not served at the same time. My crawfish was served almost 20 minutes before my wife got her meal. It's very close to AMC movie theater in MetroPark for those first time visitors. Plenty of parking on site. But nothing convenient. Expect to walk a bit. It's a large cavernous room with tables that they cover in paper their specialty is boiled seafood so I would stick with that. Market prices on the wall, near front door. High up, to the left as you come in. Not really that convenient to see. They also have covered outdoor seating too. All seafood comes boiled in a bag with choice of six different seasonings- Cajun, Texan, Lemon Pepper, Thai Basil, garlic butter? +? Can add garlic butter to any of them or have it served on the side. They provide plastic bibs and gloves (use them if getting butter in your seasonings bags) When bag comes out in large stainless steel bowl or tray depending on what you order, gently lift up and untwist from the bottom and let seafood tumble out. I just went this week. Price of crawfish is currently $10.99/lbs. Got about 1/3 large, 1/3 medium, 1/3 small BY WEIGHT not count in bag. About 2/3 were softer shelled. 1/3 hard shell. BEWARE they do NOT purge their crawfish. I eat by removing tail meat and removing the biack vein before eating as opposed to squeezing tail and sucking from shell because of this. For fresh crawfish potatoes, corn, mushrooms are all extra. For crawfish I prefer classic dry Cajun (no butter added). They offer 3 levels of spicy. I prefer medium as I like to taste the crawfish but still have a moderate amount of spice and heat. Order accordingly. I feel descriptions are accurate. In off-season I usually go here once per year for boiled snow crab. I prefer the Thai Basil the best. Lemon pepper second. Usually add either mussels or shrimp as crab is very expensive to be sole focus of the meal. Two wash sinks are located right before the bathrooms behind a smoked glass counter They also bring a wet pack or two to table once finished. While menu has fried seafood items. Personally I would stick to the boils. (They also have Smack Packs with combo items for those wanting variety). The fried okra is fresh, crispy made with some panko crumbs if not a bit too greasy. Served with ranch dressing. Cole slaw is pretty much only other veggie in the place. Plan your diet accordingly We have only ever ordered iced tea so can't comment on beer/bar selections. Service is just OK. A bit below average IMHO. But not so terrible to ruin the dining experience Overall gave it four stars for seafood variety and spice combo offerings. I think Mother Ship in Bellaire Blvd area better. For those crawfish purists and aficionados who eat boils regularly during season I am sure there are better and less expensive options in area. I'm listening and interested. I used to go to Crabby Daddy's regularly for various seafood boils. but it's now closed. read more
