Many people like myself look for a new nail salon on Yelp and think "how do they have 5 stars?!" Let me answer for you: Their technique is different. Their lotions are different. First of all, although I didn't realize it before choosing to go there, both the mani and the pedi are waterless. (I clearly didn't read all the reviews carefully.) Honestly I didn't know that it was a thing. But I did enjoy the essential oil wax that the owner makes in house. It does smell good and gives you a true spa feel with the warm towels. So far my gel French mani is going strong, despite being in water frequently, and my pedi is good, too. The Zoya nail polish, Kevin's friendliness, and the essential oils are the big pluses. They do have a loyalty card for a discount at the 5th visit. read more

Gloss time did a great job with my eyebrows for only $12. One of the cheaper but better establishments around Chevy Chase/ Bethesda. The eyebrow technician was very attentive to my needs and comfort while still doing a thorough and timely job. I would've loved to give a 5 start review but I cannot. I only have two complaints: firstly, when I called for an appointment, the male receptionist was unfriendly and frankly rude. Secondly, my appointment started about 10 minutes late. I sort of stumbled upon this nail salon by accident and now it's my go-to pedicure spot. After 4 weeks in a cast on my left foot and two more weeks to go, I was in desperate need of a pedicure. But, water and casts don't mix. So, I went searching for a "waterless" pedicure and found it at Gloss Time. They use oils and lotions. It is very sanitary. The salon itself is cute and calm, not organized chaos like some of the others. Ly, the manicurist who did my pedicure, was especially careful around the broken foot. This is the best nail salon I've ever visited! The atmosphere is tranquil, comfy and calming, the service was wonderful, and I am 10 and a half days into the longest-lasting, most durable manicure (regular! Not gel!) I have ever had. The picture I'm posting is from today, 10-26. My nails were done on 10-16. As you can see, the only real degradation of the manicure is the result of nail growth. There is no significant chipping or peeling of the polish ANYWHERE on either hand. I am still getting compliments on the color. All this, and I have not taken any unusual measures to protect my nails. I have 3 kids and a dog. I am astounded!!! I never thought a regular manicure could last this long, looking so good! I will definitely make this salon my go-to. No fumes! No water! Non-toxic, cruelty-free Polish! And most importantly, great quality. Love! read more

I flew in from Dallas, TX for this! Jk, but I did fly in from DFW this morning and searching for a place to pamper me. Once again, Yelpers didn't steer me wrong. I had one of the best mani & pedi experiences. And it was just a classic, nothing extra. There was a nice selection of unique polish colors. At first I noticed there were no TVs, but appreciate that so I can just relax in the ambiance. Then I realized there are no hot water tubs to soak your feet. Instead, I was in a recliner which made the experiment that much better. My arms, hands, feet and legs massages were ahhmazing. The base coat bottle said Kevin on it, I'm not sure if that was his name or the name of the polish. I would def be a regular if I move back to DC or just visiting. read more

I just returned from having a classic pedicure at Gloss Time Salon. This was my experience: 1. Technician didn't bother to say hello or introduce herself. 2. Technician kept checking her phone while giving me a pedicure. 3. The classic pedicure is supposed to include a massage of the lower leg and feet. The technician rubbed some oil on my legs and hit the sole of my foot exactly once per foot. Definitely NOT a massage. 4. The classic pedicure is supposed to include a HOT towel. It was lukewarm at best and all the tech did was wipe down my legs. Usually a hot towel is wrapped around the legs. The towel looked dirty. 5. The only reason I went to Gloss Time Salon is because it's in my neighborhood. That's the reason for 2 stars. Otherwise it would've been one star because there was a decent polish selection. 6. Pedicure was not worth $40. More like $15. 7. I'll be going back to the Georgetown salon where the price is the same and the service is top notch. read more

The past couple of times I've had a deluxe pedicure they were pleasant and my feet looked and felt great. The guy ( I guess he's the owner) did it yesterday and he was rough, hurt my toe with the cuticle cutter and barely touched my feet. I got a gift certificate last Christmas for this place, ended up using a little less than half of it. I found it in my drawer and realized it expired 3 days ago. I called and they said out of the $50 that was left on the certificate, i could get $19. The man who spoke said something like, "if you had a target gift card that was expired, would you be able to use it?" and i responded "target gift cards do on expire." I googled it and gift cards cannot expire for 4 years after the purchase date I believe. he said the the $19 was "Better than nothing". Anyways, the reason I'm still giving this place 4 stars is it's a really nice salon. it's clean, tidy, relaxing, and the nail tec that did my nails did a wonderful job. This salon was such a serendipitous find as a way to treat my sister-in-law right before her wedding! Did not make an appointment and wanted to both get mani/pedis so Kevin told us to come back in 30 minutes and we were not disappointed! The essential oil addition is pure bliss and Kevin was the greatest. The lotions are all specific to the salon and felt like magic... even if I was sliding around in my sandals after because my feet were so smooth! The time and care taken on all my nails was something I've never experienced at a nail salon before, even staying open after closing hours just to ensure our nails were perfect. I live in California and rarely get my nails done, but wish I had this salon in my backyard so I could go often. Glosstime is seriously the only place I will go to get my nails done in DC. Kevin and his staff are amazing, and my manicures always last for weeks. Everything is very clean, and they do their manicures and pedicures waterless, which is healthier and prevents infections. I really debated giving them 2 or 3 stars. I went to Gloss Time for an eyebrow wax so I can't comment on their other services. Pros: The place is clean, although there were some large shipping boxes scattered around the back. I was impressed by their selection of high quality nail polish (love me some Zoya!). I was able to call and be seen right away which is always great. Lee who did my eyebrows was SO nice an courteous. My eyebrows though, yikes! They looked absolutely awful upon leaving, I had to go home, pull out the tweezers and get to work. I definitely do not recommend them for eyebrow waxing, though I'm sure they'd be fine doing upper lip, arms, legs, etc., as they don't involve as much technique/precision as eyebrows! I will say that I appreciated the fact that Lee did not try to sell me on a million other services as is common sometimes when you get a wax. I was annoyed though because upon leaving I saw their sign said they were having a sale on waxing services, yet I ended up paying full price. read more

I am a bit of a nail snob because I have to be - my nail beds are naturally very oily so there are a number of techniques that have to be employed in order for me to get the most from my manicure. This place pulled out all the stops. From the ambiance (relaxing music and gorgeous decor) to the actual methods they used on my nails (using a proper dehydrator, using the capping technique during the paint job), it was all a five star experience for me. The sculpted gel was clear and liquid, no powders, no fumes and no electronic files. I can't wait to see how my nails will thrive using this system. HORRIBLE! The man who owns/runs this shop is RUDE! This review is coming for a former bi weekly customer! I was reprimanded like a child for not appreciating that my nail service was being rushed! I asked several times if there was enough time for both my nail and feet service. After being promised it was as my normal tech (Kelly who is amazing ) is out of the country! Well my Nails were not properly shaped or the length I requested, a two second manicure soak, oh and let's not mention he attempted to pull the race card after attempting to scold me! Btw I'm a woman of color, I did laughed at the irony! He is exact words "Im Asian but English is my first language". I immediately asked to pay for my pedi and LEFT! I took every ugly misshaped nail OFF! Oh and this is coming from a former customer that has bought SEVERAL OTHERS TO THIS SALON! I hope you know you have lost quite a few bi weekly regulars! This was my second time here. Lee did my eyebrows. She took her time and was very patient when I asked her to do some changes. I was very happy with the way that the eyebrows came out. I also did my nails. Keven is the owner. He was very professional. I didn't feel rushed. I think the nails came out really good, too. This salon was newly opened with a nice environment. The new owner bought out the business from Nina, so even it's the same location. The service was upgraded greatly. They have a lot of discount now. Not sure why I always wait until the last minute to make appointments but here I was on my coveted day off needing a pedicure and a facial wax before dinner reservations later that night. I called all around with no avail, I stumbled upon Gloss Time Salon and saw their high ratings and that they could do both my pedicure and wax today. Making an appointment on line was super easy and I even found parking on the street for free!!!! The salon was not crowded at all which was fine with me during Covid times and made it more relaxing. The wax went very well. I had the option to choose between a dry or a wet pedicure. I chose the dry pedicure and it went very well. I really enjoyed it and almost fell asleep multiple times. The price was great. I highly recommend this place and will be back myself. Especially since it is near my hair salon; win-win. read more
