This is the second time in a row that my nails have started falling apart after only a few days. I get hard gel specifically so I don't have to think about my nails for at least three weeks, but with Glowly, they're constantly on my mind. Even scheduling a quick repair after something goes wrong is incredibly difficult, and they make no effort to accommodate you. There are far too many nail salons that do a decent job and make time to fix their mistakes. Unfortunately, Glowly does neither. read more

I've always enjoyed their clean, long-lasting signature gel manicures and appreciate their 7-day repair policy. However, a recent experience left me feeling disappointed. I got an unexpected email confirming one of my upcoming appointments was rescheduled, which I found odd since I hadn't made any changes. When I checked online, I saw my pedicure had been moved to overlap with my manicure with a more expensive nail tech. Again, I didn't request the change and never book two services at the same time, it's just not a comfortable experience for me. I moved the pedicure back to the original time with the nail tech I previously booked with. About an hour later, I get another email confirming it was changed again. When I called to get it fixed, I was told I had requested the change, which wasn't true as I book my appointments online. Even as I explained the issue over the phone, the person continued to reschedule it incorrectly while I watched it happen in real time on their site. It honestly feels like Glowly is prioritizing their own convenience over the client's. Customers should never be caught off guard at their appointment with unexpected changes or higher costs. You can choose between a senior nail technician (which takes less time) or a junior technician, and the standards are exceptionally high with either option. With a senior nail technician, a manicure can last three weeks and sometimes even up to four weeks. Whether you are working with a junior or senior tech and a nail needs to be fixed, they respond immediately by text or phone and fix it at no extra charge, no questions asked. They are extremely responsive by text and very helpful with scheduling, appointment changes, and nail fixes. There is so much attention and patience in their artistry. They truly take pride in their work, and most importantly, they care deeply that every client is happy. read more

Just had the worst nail experience of my life with Veronika. She filed down my natural nail so much so that she cut my finger open and it was bleeding. They initially suggested just putting gel over it but I did not want to get chemical burn. I had to chop all my nails off and I am getting married in 2 months so I am livid. I was a loyal client of Glowly FiDi for several years, but after this experience I will not be returning. On the morning of my appointment, I woke up extremely sick with the stomach flu. I immediately contacted the salon explaining that I was very ill and asked if I could move my appointment to another day that week so I wouldn't risk exposing their staff and other clients to a contagious virus. I even said that if rescheduling wasn't possible without a charge, I would still try to come in. They told me their policy was to charge the full appointment cost for any change within 24 hours. I genuinely tried to make it, but I was physically too sick to leave my apartment. I called and messaged explaining that I had the stomach flu and didn't think it was responsible to come in and potentially expose others. They charged me $105 anyway. When I followed up, management refused to make any accommodation -- not even applying the charge as a credit toward a future appointment. I was NOT asking for a refund. I simply asked that the amount already charged be applied to a rescheduled service. I had been a consistent client for years and had never canceled an appointment before. Despite that, there was zero flexibility -- even for a contagious illness. What's most concerning is the position this policy puts clients in. When someone wakes up sick, they're essentially forced to choose between coming in contagious or losing the full cost of the appointment. That's not a situation any business should be creating for clients or staff. If the salon decides to reconsider and apply the charge as a credit toward a future appointment, I would gladly update this review to reflect that resolution. Until then, I think potential clients should be aware of how situations like this are handled here. read more

Monday 2/23 was major snow blizzard, in NJ, where I live, was declared State of Emergency. Mayor of my town, Hoboken NJ, placed a travel ban early in the morning of Monday 2/23. All transaction was suspended, so no busses or trains were running to NYC. Absolutely horrendous customer service. I had been going to Russian Nails for almost 2 years. When they changed to Glowly, I don't know what happened. I requested a regular nail tech. I don't get complex manicures so it's not necessary for me to have someone highly specialized. When I booked my appointment IN PERSON I requested the least expensive tech. When I went to my appointment, I was charged $125 because I had an appointment with a senior tech, not an expert tech. I stated when I made the appointment that I wanted a junior person and I was told that's what I was booking. When I saw the price I was very upset and was told that I needed to text them the next day to fix it. Over text, I requested either store credit or a refund for the DIFFERENCE between the senior tech and the regular tech that I requested - I didn't even want a full refund. They refused and said, "sorry we wish there was something we could do." I will never go back there again. read more

I've been coming to this location frequently over the last year. I would say it's the most consistent one regardless of nail artists. They offer you a drink when you come in and it's a quiet spot so it's nice. I've had Margo, Tahmina and one other person and they've all been amazing. Margo is now a master level so her services are pricier than others but definitely makes sense with her quality of work. Unfortunately, this year they're upping the price by $10 and it's becoming harder to justify the costs. read more

I was in NYC for a wedding and this place had great reviews so I decided to chance it. Booking a reservation was easy enough and I was able to get one for midday Friday booking just a few days out. The pros: - Simple online booking - Clean space, friendly receptionist - Lots of colors to choose from - Charger and stand for your phone Unfortunately, the quality of my manicure did not justify the price. My tech (Olesia) was super rough on my cuticles and made me bleed a couple times (see photos). On a couple nails, the apex of the gel was not applied properly so it looks like I have concave hooks on my nails (my normal nail beds are certainly not shaped that way). In the end my appointment finished about 15-20 minutes earlier than the scheduled 100 minutes they told me to plan for... so I definitely feel like my tech rushed through it. I looked around at other techs and they seemed to be going through with much more precision, so maybe it was just bad luck for me but unfortunately it seems others have had the same experience based on recent reviews. It's very relaxing at Russian Nails. I get so excited when my appointment is coming up because I know Ana is going to get my nails and cuticles in order. Extremely disappointed with the treatment and service and work on my nails. Two hour was spent on nothing to over charge me on extensions that was discussed it was going to be done for free. Those nails were broken before even making 2 weeks. Not only that but the push back on everything I was asking for down to the shapes of my nails was ridiculous. I been coming to Russian for over 6 months and I've never experience this. I came in 7 minutes later than my schedule appointment but Nazira started 10 minutes after I came. Which means she wasn't going to be available to start her session with at the time I was scheduled. It felt like because of how late it was I was being rushed to a questionable service. I also felt uncomfortable when they switched over to speaking in their language to discussed what I needed but nothing was resolved. I should be refunded the extension amount because it wasn't my fault but in addition to that service was very lacking. The inconsistent of the shape is also very disappointing. It was my first Russian manicure and Olesia made me bleed twice (her condescending tone and abrasive attitude didn't help). First time cleaning the cuticle around my thumb and overdid the cuticle work and the second time - extremely painfully cut the side of my pinky with an super coarse nail file - think paper cut but with cardboard - then proceeded to tell it's fine and it's so small, without apologizing. The end results look good but not sure the discomfort and potential infection is worth it! read more
