What a sunny, vibrant place to enjoy gluten free baked goods in NE Portland. Located in a lovely historic building on Broadway, this is one of my favorite bakeries for those avoiding gluten. There is a wide variety of baked goods, as well as ready-to-bake items located in their cold case. Prices are in alignment with what one would expect to pay elsewhere, and the service is top notch. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and super fast. As the bakery is located on a super busy stretch of Broadway, expect street parking to be hit or miss. I've been pretty lucky finding spots in the vicinity when I visit on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Check this place out, I'm sure you'll love it! read more

Loved this cute little gluten free bakery! I appreciated how many vegan options there were. I got a chocolate muffin and a banana chocolate chip bread for my partner. What an awesome place in Portland. For all the Vegan and Gluten Free fans. This place offers so many variety of pastries, cakes, breads, dips and more. We bought a Focaccia, Bagels and a few pastries. They even have discounts for one day old breads besides the fresh bread of the day. This a paradise of goodies. Prices are expected between 4.75 per pastry up to $10 for a fresh pack of bagels. Everything was delicious and didn't feel like gluten free. Parking is a little tricky though because it is located in downtown Portland so only street parking. Service was normal nothing above and beyond but ok. Time for a review update to up them a star! We've visited them several times & also regularly get their gluten-free baked goodies at New Seasons. Everything is delicious! It's nice that in addition to being all gluten-free, they have some options that are also vegan. The staff are really friendly & helpful. And they do special menus for various holidays that you can preorder. Most recent we tried their special dozen donuts for National Donut Day, and they were super scrummy! My wife and I have been here twice now. The first time was so good that we had to come back and order stuff for Thanksgiving. The service was great and the staff friendly. They made us the most perfectly toasted bagels and decent drinks. It's a small place but we managed to easily find a seat. It was a nice environment to relax. Gosh this place has so much potential. The pastries are delicious, the staff are almost always notably kind and friendly, and I love that they have take and bake options year round. If they put a bit of money toward re-decorating and a coat of paint this place would look just as good as it is. A totally gluten free bakery was a dream come true for my daughter, who is celiac, during a trip to the Oregon coast. The vanilla and lavender donuts were delicious as were the cinnamon rolls. We also picked up a package of four frozen cinnamon rolls that were in a heat and bake container for breakfast the next day. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was cute and clean. read more

I always look for their bakery items when shopping, being celiac its great to have so many choices. Been to their bakery for coffee and quiche or pastry several times. Would go more often but its a bit far from where we live. Friendly staff, a few tables, nice atmosphere. I highly recommend it even if you don't have allergy or diet restrictions. This is my favorite gluten free bakery in Portland. Not only are the treats delicious, the staff is very friendly and while small the shop is a vibe. I am not gluten-free but I have a friend who is. Also, if I am providing baked goods for a gathering, I always try to have something gluten-free. For either of those cases, this is my go-to spot. Located on the corner of NE Broadway, it's not the easiest place to park. Inside, they are still set up like COVID times (counter intended to keep distance between staff and customers, requiring masks, and no seating) - at least as of Dec 2022. So it may not be the most atmospheric spot, but their baked goods do seem to be good. The small bites I've tried I have hardly noticed that they are gluten-free, and they've been well received by folks who are gluten-free. Everything I bought and ate was divine --- the quiche, the Orange Roll, and the chickpea salad (one of the best I have ever tasted). If I could give it 10 stars, I would. It's nice to go out and eat without worrying about getting sick. I have a severe gluten allergy. My daughter does not, and she also thought the food was so delicious. Since I have several friends who are gluten free, I stop in frequently to pick up bread or dessert. My friends love everything that comes from this shop whether purchased here, at their store, or at the many grocery stores around town that carry their baked goods. You can find Gem products at Zupans, Whole Foods and New Seasons, to name a few. Since I work out in this part of town, I stop in the store so I get the best selection. Over Christmas I bought several of their adorable and tasty gingerbread people. They are decorated beautifully with colorful sprinkles so I buy the baby blue ones to match my decor. They even do a grumpy gingerbread person which is usually my choices, For Christmas we did a pre order of a Buche de Noel (Yule log) cake and it was absolutely divine! Moist and flavorful, and gorgeous, it was the centerpiece of our dessert table. Everyone and enjoyed it and no one knew it was gluten free. The NY style cheesecake is on point! As is the tiramisu. My celiac heart is screaming! I came visiting from Hawaii and noticed a gluten free bakery not far from the hotel I was staying at. By the time I made it late in the afternoon (close to closing) they only had donuts and a couple of scones left but the donut was DELICIOUS. Hands down the best gluten-free chocolate glazed donut I have ever had. I enjoyed my treats outside with a cup of the drip coffee that was also tasty! They require masks but had some available at the front to wear and indoor sitting is closed. Kind and efficient staff. This is an excellent gf bakery and can compete with just about any non gf bakery. I don't eat gluten free all the time, so I can usually detect the difference in baked goods without gluten. I would never guess the blueberry coffee cake was gf. It was soooo good. The soft pretzel was also the best gf pretzel my family has had. The staff were all friendly.
