I have been a customer of Glyph Salon for a few years now and always had a great experience until recently. It had been several months since my last visit due to traveling, however I stopped in for a haircut last Saturday morning. I didn't have an appointment but was at Equinox to work out and thought I'd stop in to see if they had availability. There were no customers in the salon and I asked a gentleman who was sitting at the back table if they could squeeze me in today without an appointment? He said he could and I asked if they still offered discounts to Equinox members? For as long as I had been coming to this salon, it was something they had always promoted. When I asked be immediately got annoyed and said they don't do discounts but that he would give me one. I thanked him and started sitting my things down for a haircut. He then started going on and on about how they had never done discounts, and that I had been lied to...essentially making a very big deal about it. I said no problem, I was just curious and that it was no big deal, I still wanted the haircut either way. He continued to make a big issue...going on and on one minute then saying "but I'll give you a discount" the next. Honestly, I didn't care either way, it was simply a question based on many prior visits. However, he was becoming very rude and so I said, It's ok I'll come back another time. He tells me to "get the f%#* out and never come back. Stating that he was the manager and didn't have time for this. I had never seen him there before, don't believe he was the manager but it was a very uncomfortable situation. I've tried to get in touch with the manager a few times to discuss but have not received a response. Not sure what has changed with this salon but definitely a disappointing experience. read more

Getting there was a breeze as I went during my lunch. I scheduled an appointment with Sunny as I told them on the phone I needed someone to correct my haircut bc my usual person cut it too short and didn't blend it, resulting in a choppy look. The salon is located at the top where Equinox is and when I got in the elevator, there was no sign indicating there was a hair salon but people on the way pointed me in the right direction- so people reading this: The salon is located at the Equinox! Sunny was great from the get. Her energy, her knowledge of how my hair was cut and how she was planning to correct it was everything I needed because trust, I was low-key panicking that my hair was going to get shorter. She didn't do that at all, she blended it and taught me how to wave my hair. I'm super grateful to have found her and I will be definitely returning for my next haircut. read more

I got my hair dyed on 6/24/23 by Alex. I was supposed to get a balayage, but he ended up doing highlights. It looks terrible. It is streaky and the colors aren't blended right. He was also supposed to cut it, but he barely cut it. I went somewhere else to have them fix the cut, and the stylist told me I still had dead ends and asked me if my stylist was "seasoned" or not since she said it looks like someone with no experience did my hair. I didn't reach out to the original salon because how do you fix a bad hair dye job?!? Also, you know your hair is horrible when nobody comments on it... also it took 5 hours when I was told 3 hours. I feel like the cut was awful because the "balayage" took longer than it was supposed to. It was my first time getting my hair dyed and the stylist knew that... don't get your hair dyed here. Also for being "high end" their amenities suck, Nespresso and airplane cookies... To be fair, the owner does a good job cutting men's hair. read more

Absolutely LOVED my hair! I don't normally trust just anyone with my hair. I was definitely overdue for a haircut and recoloring after a stylist didn't hit the mark for me, at my last session, at another salon. Eva is such an AMAZING stylist! She's so TALENTED when it came or not only cutting hair, but also what blends of color to use in order to compliment my skin tone and make it look so classy and elegant! I knew I came in with a tall order when I asked her to take me from a level 1 hair to a 10 and she killed it! It came out so much better than I could've ever imagined! I've been a client of Nikko's since 2015 so when he came to Glyph, I followed him. There's no one else I'd trust my hair with. I've gone through a hair journey with him: color correction and blonde to brunette to super long or a blunt bob. He is a master at color and at making you feel confident and beautiful. His attention to detail is absurd. I can be in the chair for hours and he is in full concentration the whole time because he is painstakingly placing every foil with one of three browns he concocted for me in its perfect spot. Nikko is the BEST! He is a wizard with my blonde hair color and after just 1 haircut with him it's like my hair transformed - I love my hair! Best of all, Nikko wants to make sure your hair is what you want. He asks extensive questions on day 1 and communicates how he's going to get you to hair perfection. The new salon is also awesome. To me, finding a great salon experience AND stylist for men is difficult in San Francisco. Prices in this city are outrageous when it come to haircuts unless you want a standard template haircut or something that's just okay. Glyph provides a fantastic experience and I really enjoy visiting the salon for my haircuts. The staff are super friendly, the salon itself is beautiful, and overall the quality of the service is great. Alder is my stylist and he really takes his time with every visit. I've been his client for a little over 2 years now, and what I appreciate most is his consistency and attention to detail. He asks thoughtful questions to make sure he understands exactly what I'm wanting. My haircuts feel personal and tailored to my style, and he does a great job recommending slight variations to switch it up or add nice touches. Barbering services with Ivan at Glyph Salon: I recently moved to the SF Bay area for work and am also member at the Equinox Sports Club San Francisco. Glyph Salon's new San Francisco location is conveniently located at this gym, and the salon is also open to the general public. Equinox members also get a discount since the salon is onsite. It's always hard to find a new hair stylist or barber that you can trust, and I have tried several different salons since I arrived...some really expensive and some really cheap. Personally, I like to keep my hair relatively short and clean-cut since I work in a business setting. I don't mind paying more for a good haircut, and when you like to keep your hair short like me, it makes more sense to get more frequent "clean-ups" rather than one really expensive haircut once month. The barber shop offers the option for either haircut & style or just a clean-up. Since the salon opened at Equinox this past May, I have always been greeted by Madesa, and I have been getting my haircut and barbering services from Ivan Ferdinand who has been setting up the barbering services at the salon. What I appreciate most about Ivan is that he likes to take his time and prides himself on paying attention to the details. Don't rush him! He will see what your hair looks like when it is wet, when it is dry, and after it has been washed to make sure that your will be happy with your haircut even after you leave. My plan is to get a full haircut once every 4-6 weeks, and to have one or two clean-ups every 2 weeks just to fix the sides. I have already visited Ivan 4 times in the past 2 months and I have always been happy with the service I have received. If you are looking for a good haircut that will last, I highly recommend giving Ivan a try. Call and talk to Madesa too, in case there is a promotion going on. Good luck! read more

I scheduled a haircut with Sunny at the front desk and could not be more pleased - she has the kindest demeanor, communicated with me about my wants, and most importantly, knew how to make a decision when I didn't know exactly what I wanted. I love, love, love Nikko and have followed him to 4 salons over the years. He is great with Asian hair and the nuances with it. My hair is straight but does crazy things. I usually get a bob and Nikko always finds creative ways to make it just a little different. He's colored my hair over the years too when I need a change. I've had it lightened, added a streak of purple and fixed my grays. Nikko gives great tips on how to style my hair or what tools/products to use. He's helped me with my blow dryer.
