Whether I'm stopping by to grab something to eat, hanging out on the patio, or coming for one of their live music events, the energy is always so good. As a vegan, I also really appreciate how many options I can find here. The vegan crab cakes are hands down one of my favorites, and I will tear a Caribbean Sunshine DOWN every single time! Seriously, if you haven't tried that combination yet, I had to put you on. What makes Simply Wholesome special to me though is that it feels like so much more than just a restaurant. Between the food, health market, music, events, and people, it really feels like a community space. Definitely one of those LA gems I'm always happy to support.

Well, my family and I just moved into the neighborhood, so I finally got the chance to check it out. I honestly felt like a tourist walking around. Half of the store is a market filled with supplements, herbs, oils, snacks, and other health products, while the other half is a restaurant. I took my time walking down every aisle just to see everything they had. The prices were a little higher than what I've seen elsewhere, but they definitely carry a great selection. My husband and I tried the jerk chicken patty and the shrimp & crab patty. Both were really good, but the jerk chicken patty was my favorite. I also ordered the Austin Martin smoothie, and it did not disappoint. Now that we live in the neighborhood, I know I'll be back often to try more things on the menu.

The process was definitely different from a regular doctor visit, but honestly, it was a really interesting experience. Since the practitioner doesn't speak English, I translated my symptoms into Chinese using Google Translate and showed him my phone. He checked my tongue and pulse very carefully before writing out a custom herbal tea prescription entirely in Chinese characters. You then take the prescription to the front counter where they prepare the herbs into 5 separate bags. Each bag lasts 2 days, and you boil the herbs for about an hour, strain the tea, and save the rest for the next day. I'm not going to lie -- the tea tastes STRONG. Very earthy, bitter, and honestly like dirt lol. Each boiled tea bag yields 24-32 oz. that needs to be consumed warm, preferably in one sitting after lunch. It was hard to drink, but after finishing my first cycle (10days) I noticed a huge improvement in my symptoms. They explained that most people do 2-3 cycles using the same prescription for full results. I genuinely feel a lot better. I paid $20 for consultation + $85 for the tea. If you use the prescription and 2nd time you only pay for the tea of $85. They take credit cards but there is a $6 transaction fee.

Ambiance: everyone is there for the prepared foods and smoothies. The grocery aisles were fairly empty. There's a few bar stools by the entrance so we ate there but most take to go. I had stopped by on Thursday evening, but by the time I got there, most of the ice cream was already sold out. I figured there would be a much better selection if I went early in the morning, so even though it was the weekend, I headed there almost as soon as I woke up. As I expected, there were plenty of ice cream flavors available early in the morning, which made me really happy. I ended up buying three flavors: Van Leeuwen Dubai Style Chocolate Cone, Van Leeuwen Sicilian Pistachio, and McConnell's × See's Candies Vanilla California Brittle. I tried all three, and every single one was absolutely delicious. I also picked up some organic mustard and white balsamic vinegar. When I checked out, a young male employee helped me. I asked him if the 50% discount on the ice cream was for Amazon Prime members, and he confirmed that it was. Then I asked him how to show that I was an Amazon Prime member, and he kindly explained the process. He even put all of my groceries into the shopping bag I had brought with me. He was very friendly and helpful, which made my shopping experience even better. When I was picking out the ice cream, an employee who was stocking items nearby kindly held the freezer door open for me. I really appreciated that as well. He suddenly held the door, so I looked up in surprise. He said he was just trying to help, so I thanked him I also love that Whole Foods Market is within walking distance of my home. It's so convenient, and they always have a great selection of high-quality products. Just a heads-up: The 50% off ice cream promotion for Amazon Prime members runs through July 7th. If you're not an Amazon Prime member, you can still get 44% off instead.

The negative is the other people that visit with their dogs. I know Whole Foods can't control it, but not sure why people come with their pets, its kind of crazy. However this review is really for their coffee shop. I saw it recently start on the inside and it had a really interesting menu and flavor combos so I wanted to try it. The service was fast and attentive and the person was really enthusiastic. We got the matcha latte and I think it was like a brown sugar one latte and both were decent, but nothing special. The prices were really good though. But would I get this again, probably not unless I really want some espresso. Great concept, but would like more interesting flavors and better coffee!

Parking is usually pretty easy although I'd recommend staying away during peak Pilates hours because they do share a lot with a very trendy place. The service here is not all that great to be honest but I don't put that on the store, I put that on the culture. Anyway it's a grocery store, you don't come here for great service. The prices are pretty OK. I mean for what you get it's honestly not bad. But this isn't a place to come and shop for deals. The one gripe I do have is more often than not, there are those annoying street-fundraisers standing in front of the door trying to get you to sign up for a monthly donation to green peace or whatever save-the-wales charity, like whatever bro I don't need a lecture with my groceries. They also have a really good vitamin section here. Like several aisles dedicated to supplements and a couple of staff specific to that section. Happy shopping.

I really really hope they seek out a new ranch that's comparable to what spring lake ranch was prior to being bought out. I probably would have preferred the Mediterranean version, as the tomatoes on this weren't my fave and there was raw red onion mixed into the avo so I wasn't able to pick it out.
