You watch a short safety video on the course and cars then head out with your instructor. Our instructor Robbie was very friendly and helpful. You climb into the truck then the first lap is a learning lap with the instructors in a truck ahead of you telling you what to do in an ear piece. We took part in the 5 lap experience and it was exhilarating! Pure adrenaline! You can work your speed up each lap and by the 5th lap you feel great and are jumping feet in the air in a truck! I would suggest however purchasing the 10 laps because 5 felt a little short. The speed, the feel of a huge truck, the dirt, the staff, everything about this place was amazing! Brandi, the Hospitality Director stopped by to say hello and she was very passionate about VORE and so welcoming. This was definitely an experience I will always remember!

We had Brett as our guide and he was awesome. The weather couldn't have been better and the water really is that bright green you see in photos. When the sun hits it just right, it's unreal. The whole kayak route is beautiful, and we even saw a bald eagle flying overhead, which was a nice surprise. Tips: Don't book this if you're not in decent shape, it's about 3-4 miles of kayaking. If you're unsure, go for a tandem kayak and bring someone to share the work. It'll make the experience way more enjoyable. Just make sure to request a tandem kayak in advance

I grew up in Vegas and have been on this river a ton by boat, and I've also hiked to both Gold Strike and Arizona Hot Springs. Those hikes are super rewarding but honestly brutal. This experience was completely different in the best way. Being able to get out of the river and be steps away from hot springs was amazing, and the views from the water are hands down the best. We met the team bright and early at 5:30am for launch, and everything was super smooth. They shuttled us, got us fitted for life jackets, handled waivers, and gave a quick safety rundown. Launch timing is strict because of the park service, but they made it feel easy and not stressful at all. Definitely be on time, though, because due to this strict timing, they will leave without you. The kayaks were such a game-changer. They were longer touring kayaks with foot-controlled rudders, dry storage, and actual back support. Super comfortable for me and somehow also worked great for my 6'2" husband (he had a larger boat). Since it was just the two of us, our guide Holmes customized the whole day to our pace. He took us to hidden spots I had never seen before, even as a local, and helped us avoid crowds. We did some hiking, rock scrambling, used ropes at Boy Scout Canyon, and explored hot springs that you can only get to from the river. It felt adventurous but still very safe, and he gave great tips the whole time. He also knew so much about the area. History of the Hoover Dam, plants, wildlife, etc. I learned a ton - even as someone who felt familiar with the area. This is exactly why I'm glad we didn't just rent kayaks. Having a guide made it feel like a next-level experience. We got to relax more while he handled the route and found the best spots. We got lucky with perfect early April weather. No wind, super glassy water, and we could see fish deep in the water. The 12 miles honestly felt way easier than expected, especially with how well Holmes guided us through the current so we could just float and chill a lot of the time. They also packed a great lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. You really just need a sun shirt, hat, sunglasses, swimsuit, water shoes, and sunscreen. They take care of the rest. Even though we leaned a little more adventurous, I could totally see this being doable for beginners, too. You don't need to be super athletic to enjoy it. Pickup and cleanup were easy and seamless. They handled everything while I grabbed a snack and relaxed, which honestly made it feel even more special. This was such a cool experience, and I would 100% do it again. Already recommending it to friends, and I would definitely consider doing the overnight version next time.

They provided a large trailer with ample shelves and space to put are gear onto. A safety speech was also given. This company has special authorization to enter the Hoover Dam property and take people down to launch from the entrance of the Hoover Dam. They instructed you to move quickly as there was a time limit for getting everyone/everything Into the water and away from the area. The next day, they were prompt with their pick up and helped us load our gear back onto the trailer. I would definitely use this company again and recommend them to others.

Before heading on our latest trip to Vegas, I did some Google research on what the best "bang for…read moreyour buck" kayaking tour would be, and Boulder City Outfitters came out on top. My husband and I were picked up in an SUV from our hotel (Mandalay Bay) at 6:45 am by the owner, Tom. He was a very friendly guy who kept us entertained on the short ride to a pickup point where we got our kayaks, and another point where we picked up our guide, Scott. The drop in point for the tour is directly at the bottom of the Hoover Dam. It is pretty neat to see the dam from this point. Not only that, but the arch that is being built over the river for the new highway bypass is colossal and downright amazing. The tour group consisted of me, my husband, and a couple from Chicago. After donning our lifejackets and water shoes (very important!) , we got in the water at about 8am, and paddled a little ways to a point where we got out of the water and hiked a small distance to a very warm cave. As part of a Mojave Indian ritual, each of us carried a small, smooth rock with us into the cave-- inching our way along with one hand above us and one hand to the right-- and sat in total darkness, reflecting, meditating, SWEATING, and transferring all of our troubles into the stone we carried. After two minutes, we exited the cave and took a very refreshing, cleansing plunge in the river, releasing the stone and all of our troubles with it. Pretty cool, right? This was just the beginning of the tour! After another couple of miles we stopped at an area of hot springs, and after a short hike there we relaxed in a natural hot spring pool. During the entire trip we stopped every 2-2.5 miles along the way for a stretch, and snacks/water/lunch were also provided for us. Our guide, Scott, was phenomenal (Highly recommend-- but we were told he only works Sundays and Mondays!) He was so knowledgeable about the area and about kayaking, answered all of our questions, and entertained us with a few great stories. Beyond that, when my husband was run into by another kayak in some light rapids and ended up tipping over, Scott acted quickly and towed him and his swamped kayak to shore. The 11 mile ride is probably not for everyone-- it is definitely a physical challenge, and you will be sore the next day. But the scenery is absolutely gorgeous and the water is for the most part calm and serene. There were a couple of areas of rushing water, but I am no means an expert kayaker and I had no problems maneuvering. My husband and I go to Vegas at least once a year, and this was by far our best off-the-strip adventure that we have done. We don't know if we can top it, either!

The view of the dam from the base is an awesome sight, the hot springs are a great soak. The trip is a little over 11 miles long as that's the distance to the next road that enters Black Canyon at Willow Beach, Arizona. On the way back you get to drive over the dam for another view. This trip is good for those new to paddling but can be a bit long if a south wind picks up if you're in a slow boat. Boulder City Outfitters does guided tours and rentals along this stretch of river. With a guide or on your own. My trip was Aug. 18, 2009. My niece Devon and I had Jason Gansert as our professional guild. We had Jason the whole day to outselves because noone else booked a kayak trip that day. Sucks for them but was amazing for Devon and me. Jason showed us all the caves and we swam in several hot springs. We had to climb to reach some of them which was a great break from the kayak. The wind picked up a couple of times which made me stuggle a little but nothing I couldn't handle and I'm 56 years young. We would recommend this for anyone. Climbing in Red Rock Canyon has been a dream of mine since I first visited as a newbie climber 8…read moreyears ago. I was finally able to return last November, and Donna at Mountain Skills made it incredibly easy to coordinate my trip. My guide, Thomas, was incredibly open to providing the kind of climbing experience I wanted and made thoughtful suggestions based on my skill level and experience. Thomas does it all, from sport climbing to multi-pitch and multi-day classes, self-rescue clinics-- seriously, climbers of all levels can learn something from him! I would highly recommend climbing with Thomas, as he is knowledgeable, professional, and enjoyable to be around. He truly has a passion for teaching, and teaches in an engaging and memorable way. He even emailed me more climbing material to read and practice afterward! Thomas is also a great person. He took the time to (safely) snap some pictures of me working on a project and even stayed out late that day to give a rescue belay to a climber (not with a guide!) who dropped their rope while at the top of a wall.
