My friends and I were looking for a fun and adventurous thing to do in AZ, so we signed up for an intro sailing class with Go Sail AZ. We had a wonderful time learning how to sail over 2 days. The instructor, Clint, was a great teacher. He made learning how to sail fun and easy to understand, especially for us since we knew nothing about sailing. He even told us a really funny joke about traveling on airplanes. My friends and I were dying it was so funny. My friend actually had water coming out of her nose. We could not stop laughing.I was surprised Lake Pleasant was so big and so close to Phoenix. Not exactly sure when this new found knowledge will come in handy, but it's good information to know if you happen to be on a sail boat and the captain falls ill. Thanks Clint. I decided to get into sailing when I moved to Arizona and didn't think I would stand a chance of finding a sailing school in the desert. When I searched "Sailing in Phoenix Arizona", I didn't expect anything to pop up, to my surprise I found Go Sail Arizona. The ASA 101 course was a great introduction to sailing, and the follow on courses out in California taught me everything I needed to know to charter my a larger sailboat on the ocean. I couldn't have asked for a better experience or better instructor, learning to sail has been the highlight of my time in Arizona hands down. I've been sailing with Capt. Clint for six years. From my initial training, ASA 101, to just stepping off a 42' catamaran after 4 days at sea. Clint provides an easy approach to learning, is an excellent source of information when you want to deepen your skills, and has a practical approach to the important skills that make you comfortable in skippering your own vessel. I'm always surprise how much I learned in the middle of having fun, and am comfortable putting family and friends on a big boat, having fun under sail, and bringing everything back to the dock safely. While visiting a very close friend in Phoenix, I wanted to make a lasting moment's impression before the weeks and months would separate us indefinitely. Since I live in Florida and have never been sailing, I thought it especially memorable to sail in the desert, of all places. The perseverance in getting our schedules to coincide with a sunset sail was totally worth the effort. My wife and I took Capt Clint's ASA 101 class over the summer. He's a very fun instrutor and an excellent sailor. In fact, he's so good that we ended up moving to California and buying a sailboat just a few months after our lesson! Sailing is exciting and fun, and having a knowledgable instructor to show you the ropes (literally) is essential. It was a very hands on lesson and you will learn the art of sailing very quickly. If you take ASA 101, you will be comfortable sailing a 30 ft yacht after you pass the class. I was really excited to go on a sailing trip to Catalina Island, but also apprehensive, due to my limited experience. But Clint made all of the arrangements and boat assignments, and there was little for me to do but enjoy. And that I did. He was constantly making sure that people were doing well and having fun. It was an amazing adventure! There were people in the group with extensive experience sailing, and then there were those like me. And everyone was really having a great time. Wow! Capt Clint does an amazing job of teaching the ASA curriculum to students of all levels. Can easily break concepts down to a level that is understandable and easy to remember for beginners, yet speaks with great terminology and sailing theory for the more experienced sailors. This was soooo much fun. We searched for sailing in Arizona to have something for my friends to do when they got in to town for vacation. Just finished the ASA 103/104 sailing classes from Long Beach to Catalina and return with Capt. Clint. We went out as a group of four 'newbies'--none had sailed before. While we got off to a slow start, (technical difficulties), Captain Clint more than made up for it. Clint was the sailing instructor for my ASA 101. I can't think of a better experience for my introduction to sailing. Clint made the whole group feel at ease during the two days of training.
