I am very confused by the bad reviews. It seems like people are being overly-picky and overly-critical. My daughter and I love sushi and have been to countless sushi restaurants. We've never had any issues at this one. Food always tastes great and service is good. I highly recommend ordering the sushi boat. It is perfect for two - three people.

Honestly, I'm disappointed to say that some of the reviews here were right. The place looks decent and definitely gets crowded. I was helped with my to go order pretty fast. What bothered me was the specials menu they have was hard to read. I was placing my order from the menu. I was ordering the teriyaki 12 oz. Ribeye entree. He tells me no, that's wrong. We only have 8 or 10 oz. It wasn't updated. So we ordered: 1. Pork gyoza - I do not recommend this. It's worse than the frozen one you'd make at home. 2. Crab cheese puff - Do NOT order this. Something about it first bite, even second bite, you just know you're going to regret it. It didn't taste fresh, and the filling was sour. 3. Shrimp tempura roll - I wanted to try their sushi and wanted to keep it simple. This sushi had lettuce in it. I'd like to think I'm somewhat of a sushi connoisseur, but this is an abomination. 4. 2 item bento - short rib and tempura. It was sad. Meat only 3 pieces were given. Tempura, nothing special. It's kind of soggy and lacked flavor. 5. 10 oz ribeye - This was good. This was the only thing I liked out of the order. Honestly, I feel like there's no reason to even wanna give it another try next time.

Since they've been remodeling this strip mall, there are no signs to indicate the location of this restaurant, I wasn't the only person that had a hard time locating this restaurant, that should have been a sign. I ordered my normal chicken katsu curry. Well it was rather bland and not spicy at all. There are plenty of other restaurants that do a much better job of this dish. Another friend ordered a spider roll, to me it was all show and not much else, I'm a big content person and needless presentation without matching the importance of the matching food is a big waste to me. You can make presentations look spectacular but if the food is not good then why are you bothering with the most important part of the meal, the food. Anyway definitely not a go to restaurant for Japanese food in my opinion.

This review of for tonight's service. We've eaten here several times even during Covid supporting local restaurants. They are now charging for ginger by ounce. The food is still good. However, my daughter noticed that her miso soup only had 2 small tofus and 2 small pieces of seaweed. We were a little disappointed. Also, I'm not sure if they changed wait staff. The two who waited on us were not friendly at all and we waited a long time before they took our order. I know times are hard but one of the reasons we liked coming here in the past was service and food. Hopefully, this was a one off thing.

Definitely a good time for me and the family, if your siblings are over the age of 50. We come here for a late lunchtime after shooting at San Francisco archery field. We are tired and hungry. Good place to grab a beer or sake. The sushi boat is a must . Delicious fresh fish served on a boat. Appetizer consisted of green soy beans and deep-fried chicken . So yummy. Melt in your mouth. Understand that service isn't the fastest but they do have a lot of to go orders that they have , so I have to prepare for that factor.

All of their specialty rolls have seemed really fresh and they have some unique combinations, but what was truly surprising was the quality of the salmon avocado roll which came in the lunch combo - with no sauces or garnishes to hide behind, the freshness of both the fish and the avocado came through. It's such a basic item that we would never think to order it on its own, but we were so pleased with the quality! Service on Sundays can be a bit slow, but they only have one waiter. He's very friendly. The parking lot situation (which other reviews may touch on) is strict between each business, so they may warn you to make sure you've parked in a space meant for the business/not blocking any other parking. The restaurant itself isn't huge, but we haven't yet had problems with getting a table. We could imagine that they may get busier for later lunch times than ours.

Get there early, they've been very busy every time we went and it's pretty loud so be aware of that ahead of time if that's not your scene. The restaurant is located right off Highway 1 Southbound at Rockaway Beach, which is a great little area to walk around in. There are coastline views, a handful of local shops to pop into, and the Mori Point hiking trail if you want to get in a few thousand steps. Parking is available at all times throughout Rockaway Beach, making access to the restaurant easy even during peak hours. Uoyakutei itself has a good variety of classic Japanese dishes. You'll find sushi, ramen, skewers, specialty meats and fish, bento boxes, all manners of rice and vegetables, and beer/sake all on the menu. On my trip there, I tried the Gyu Skewers, Chicken Karage, and Chicken Teriyaki dinner plate. All of them were amazing! Particularly the Gyu skewers. I don't know what the chefs season the meat with, but it's tender, juicy, and so very tasty. At $4 per plate, with 2 skewers per plate, they're a very good deal and probably the best thing at restaurant. The restaurant has a decent amount of table seating, as well as a sushi bar for single diners who wish to pop in and out and get something quick. Service is also very good all around. While the hosts can sometimes get busy checking people in and getting them to their tables, the sushi chefs and servers are all very welcoming and warm. It's a great experience beyond the food, and the food's quality just makes it an even better local spot. Highly recommend if you're passing through Pacifica and need your fix of Asian food!

My husband and I had dinner here tonight, and overall it was a really memorable experience. We've…read moretraveled quite a bit and tried sushi in many different cities, including around the Los Angeles area where we live and have our favorite spots. So when we visit a sushi restaurant, we tend to evaluate everything as a whole -- price, quality, service, and of course the flavors. For dinner we ordered the Mango Tuna Roll (which was our first time trying a mango-style sushi roll), the 8-piece Omakase Nigiri, a Double Toro Roll, two pieces of Otoro, and a hot sake. With a 20% tip included, the total for the two of us came to $163.50, which honestly falls within the average range of what we usually spend for a sushi dinner like this. Normally we might pay around $120-$130 depending on the place, sometimes a little more if we add an extra item or two. The portion sizes were pretty standard. Not unusually large, but not small either -- similar to what we've experienced at many other sushi restaurants. Where this place really stood out was the depth of flavor. The quality and balance of the ingredients were excellent. At one point I actually caught myself closing my eyes just to focus on the taste, which is something I almost never do. The preparation felt very refined and the flavors were elevated, rich, and memorable. I would describe it as delicate portions with very elevated flavors. Because of that, I'm giving this place 5 out of 5 stars. This is the kind of restaurant that works perfectly for a nice dinner with your partner. It's not necessarily a place where you go wild ordering everything on the menu like at a taco spot. Instead, it's better to be thoughtful with what you choose and enjoy a few well-crafted dishes. You can easily have a special, enjoyable dinner here without going overboard. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and want a quality sushi experience with refined flavors. The only thing I felt was missing was a small welcome miso soup. In some sushi restaurants we've visited, they serve a tiny cup of miso with a couple pieces of tofu as a warm welcome. It's a very small gesture, but it creates a nice first impression and adds a sense of hospitality to the experience. Considering the quality and pricing of the menu here, a simple welcome miso soup would fit perfectly with the overall dining experience.

They also have great non-seafood options, I recently got the spicy lamb skewer, which was served warm, and seasoned and cooked to perfection. I am honestly contemplating giving Tom Sam Ramen a glass reusable container since I order so often there but haven't done so yet to reduce waste. I prefer the sushi nigiri special more than the sashimi special because there are more kinds of fish. Sashimi includes very thick pieces of fish, but they were maybe only 4 kinds repeated. Pros: - Great prices, especially for lunch - Omakase sashimi (anytime) is also a great deal at $38 for 9 pieces - Combos are also well priced Cons: - They are now on DoorDash, but none of the lunch specials are on the menu - There are no dinner specials for nigiri (only sashimi) - womp womp for me - Parking can be hard - it's on a strip and parking is often full in front.
