I'm not a food snob, but being from San Francisco, I have high expectations to meet for Japanese food. I wasn't expecting much after a day in Hollywood, but GoBistro proved themselves. Their pork belly buns were absolutely DELICIOUS. Seriously these were amazing. We ordered a second order even before the rest of our order came out. I also ordered the Tuna Crunch roll. I love spicy tuna. It wasn't that spicy to me, but the tempura flakes and the sweet sauce on the side made this roll really appetizing. I'd definitely order this again. Just wish the spicy mayo had a little more punch to it. My main entree was the Tonkatsu ramen. The ramen was good. It was pretty standard ramen. The noodles were nice and al dente. The only thing I'd critic is there was a black residue on the top of the broth when it was served to me. I assume this was from the pork belly. This gave the ramen a very very smokey taste. I wasn't a fan. I don't mind it on my pieces of meat, but when mixed in with the broth, it was a little overwhelming. Otherwise, the ramen was good. Wow, what a treat.. We went in for ramen, but because it was happy hour between 4-7, we took advantage :). The rolls were delicious.. Something in the temperature, the rice, how cleanly the rolls were rolled.. Just made it .. Perfect. We did the buns, because they're hard to come by and the pork buns were, well Delicious! Then we did yakitori cause having lived in Japan you know that skewered meat with sauce, was definitely a favorite. I'm with my fam of 3 teenage kids and we can not do without dessert!! The donut tower with condensed milk and ovaltine was amazing and would've ordered another however after my kids started to lick the serving plate I passed on it.. We did however end up getting the fried bao with cookies and cream ice cream. Yeah, we went all out but everything that we had was super delicious. This is our favorite sushi restaurant in the area. We love coming here because it has great sushi and ramen. It is a small restaurant with maybe a total of ten tables, so it fills up quickly. However, we enjoy the atmosphere even more because of the more intimate size of the place. They do not take reservations, but you can get on their waitlist via Yelp which I highly encourage. Otherwise it can be a long wait. Since it is in Downtown Hollywood, you have to look for parking, or park in a parking garage further down. So, plan some extra time if you are driving there. The staff is always friendly, and they have great menu selections, not just your basic sushi. We usually get the salmon bomb.com (it's the bomb!) or the seared salmon carpaccio for an appetizer. One of the reasons I love coming here is because it has my favorite roll called a Mr Miyagi. My husband loves spicy ramen, so he always gets the pork belly curry. It's been months since I've had any good ramen and I'm fresh in the middle of a Naruto marathon so you can imagine my excitement when I see such a highly rated place on Yelp while searching for dinner. After some urging and persuasion I was able to get my parents to agree to the adventure, my Yelp senses were tingling. After a short wait we were seated and ready to go. We ordered a Spider roll, Dragon roll, 1 beef tenderloin Yakitori, 1 chicken breast Yakitori, and 1 Tonkatsu Ramen with extra pork. While my main pursuit was the ramen, the sushi was great too! It far surpasses anything I've had in California. The Yakitori, while slightly overpriced for an individual piece, (I thought you might get more than 1 per order but that's ok.) The beef tenderloin was my favorite. Ok Ramen time! This was by far the best Tonkatsu Ramen I've ever had. The broth had lots of flavor, the pork was tender, and there was an even noodle/meat to broth ratio. The meal is served in a cool bowl too! At first I thought the serving would be small, then I saw how the wide stem of the bowl had more stuff inside of it! Stylish Right now I'm wishing that there was a place like this in Sacramento or Tempe... This would be the best place to go on a night out with the girls or on a break from school. Which was bland, no taste and the tofu which was swimming on the hot broth was refrigerated cold I had also asked for an egg which also came refrigerated cold. Not sure why people go here. Ramen: Sure, anyone can make great ramen when they add a boatload of MSG. Really? Lazy cooking. Be better. Sushi: None. They do not serve sushi! Sushi is a piece of fish on top of rice. None! Long roll list but too many fried options and too many with asparagus. Sashimi: Only one option is a mixed plate. No individual orders. No getting to pick what you like. IMO this means no sashimi. At best it's an after thought. Fish quality was ok, but not great. I had the pork bun - that was very tasty. Atmosphere was tight, but not big deal. Not a huge place. If you want raw fish go somewhere else. If you want MSG laden ramen - this is the place for you. read more

It was confusing but I guess to avoid a crowd and for social distancing. The server came to help two ladies who appeared a second before me. He had an attitude when they were asking for a receipt. I visited the location today with my wife for lunch. We arrived at 12:45pm. It took us asking after sitting there for almost 10 minutes to get a menu and there was a total of 12 other people in the entire restaurant. We were given menus but had to wait another 15 minutes to order. Next came the waiting game. We waited for 40 minutes before a scallop and beef yakitori was brought out. The yakitori was ok, but far from good. There was then another 15 minute wait for our ramen's to come out. My wifes tonkatsu ramen was ok, but the taste was lacking and the noodles were really bad while my miso ramen was not even miso. It was an acidic broth with a floating oil on it that had 0 taste of miso. The only saving grace of the food was the prepackaged store bought mochi that were good. The service and food was absolutely horrid and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. If you want ramen drive to a place like Marumi that actually makes good ramen. read more

Came in, was seated promptly by the Bar. There were three waitresses working and they were all in cheery spirits tonight. I was asked a drink, but stuck with water. They have the usual run of the mill Japanese Beer selection like Sapporo. I was good with regards, gotta hit that place called work in the morning. Well yes, the yakitori skewers were yummy as well, I did the triple take in chicken, beef tenderloin, and baby Octopus! Oh that topped it off perfectly! Although next time I might want to do small rice on the side since some of the yakitori flavoring was quite rich! Then maybe it's becuz I'm azn, and we like rice on side for the "just in case" moments! Listen, this is the third time I have been to this place and this time I went they are completely oblivious of their actions. They did not sit us down while we waited and there was NO waiting time. There were four tables that were empty when we arrived and not one waiter was attentive to us. After we sat down they gave us two empty glasses with NO water. Instead, what they did was give the next table a huge glass of water while they were about to finish dining. We had to ask for water. When the waiter finally arrived after 15 minutes they took our orders. We ordered pork belly bun, curry noodles, chicken , spicy tuna roll. Here's the part that pisses me off. Our food came, they gave us NO spoon for the curry noodle that we had to ask for. Secondly, when our sushi arrived they gave us No soy sauce nor a small bow to hold the soy sauce. I thought if I asked for soy sauce they would know better to give us a small bowl for the soy sauce. However, they gave us the soy sauce and walked away before I wanted to remind them we had no plates for the soy sauce. We asked two waiters for the bowl for the soy sauce and then they finally gave it to us. I am not even finish ranting. They did not abet us at ALL and they were NOT amicable at ALL. If they were at my restaurant in NYC they would all be freakend fired!!! I'm not even done because I asked for a doggy bag for the food that we could not finish. What they did was give us two empty foam containers with NO bag!!! I am never freakend coming back here. But I'll post the food cause it was not good at all. Only camera friendly read more
