I can't believe how I'm not the Duke of this place yet! I frequent this place often and this is my go to for anything fruit or green tea. The staff is friendly and i enjoy that in a facility. I change my appearance often and they always have something kind to say. All drinks are $3 beside the fruit tea $4, but you also get a stamp for everything (shaved ice or drink) its buy 8 get 1 free. Tapioca is plentiful consistent and sweet. Best part is knowing the owners will in fact make it less sweet and also sometimes give out samples. I love that the have mochi out (something that is always running out at star snow) and there egg pudding is delicious. I still gotta try their sweet tofu soon! read more

But anyways. I order 2 large SHAVE ICE... but like guess what's missing ... the ice. So all I had was toppings. At the time that I went to Go Go Ice, I never thought that it was anything special. After all, there are a handful of similar shops in the immediate area that have similar menus. That, however, is incorrect thinking. What I really like about Go Go Ice is that they prepare everything in front of you. If your drink contains fruit, they grab it and blend it in front of you. I love this place! So cheap ($10 for a mocha with boba, a smoothie with boba, and a taro milk tea with boba) and really fresh. -we caught a post-lunch rush around 1:20PM. The line was long but it moved reasonably fast. -we saw someone cutting fresh papaya as we were waiting for our drinks! Freshly cut fruit is used for the smoothies which makes all the difference. -you can choose yogurt, milk, or water as base for your smoothies. -the milk they use in milk tea appears to be real milk rather than the fake powder nondairy stuff many bubble tea places use. I saw a gallon of milk on the counter. -they are generous with the tapioca boba. -I always like to order my taro or jasmine milk tea with no sugar and no ice and IMO it's perfect here. -while it writes "soy milk" explicitly on the poster next to the register, they don't have soy milk apparently. The lady that works there is really nice. She took the time to recommend me some of the favorites. Plus when I narrowed down to what I wanted to try she told me how everything is fresh. Happy to know that the mixed fruit drink I had didn't have added sugar. I didn't really enjoy the drink as much as I thought. Maybe the orange juice threw off the taste a little. Only thing is that I would have liked a bit more zesty orange in there. But for the price of 3.25 (tax included), it was worth it. P.S. You see this in front of the Welcome grocery store. It's never really packed, maybe because it's not as obvious as other teahouses, but their prices and sizes are so good! The cup sizes are one size I believe. It's 2.77, which is pretty good because other places a large cup is already 3.50+. I ordered the passion fruit smoothie and I thought it was really sweet, but I think it's because they gave a lot of tapioca and it added too much sweetness. I liked the drink until the last 1/5 and I just had to toss it. This was definitely a draw back, but maybe next time I should just ask them not too much tapioca inside. I also tried their jasmine milk tea which I thought was so good! Sweet, but not too sweet, yummy! This place has the BEST Fruit Tea in Houston. Hands down. Go Go Ice is a hidden gem in the Chinatown district and is worth the trip. The owners are always there and are always very pleasant. I have been here multiple times and have always had A+ service. Now on to their drinks. Their Fruit Tea is amazing. They use fresh whole fruits and cut them up in front of you. They then make fresh orange juice by grinding whole oranges through a juicer, again in front of you after you order your drink. Finally, they mix the chopped fruits and oj with green tea (this is the only part of the fruit tea that is pre-made). The result? The place has changed for worse ever since the change of ownership. We have been going to this place for years whenever we come to shop in China Town. The girl behind the counter was always full of smile, energy and made you feel welcome. Ever since she left, the new personnel was lack of this quality, but as long as the drinks were still the same we are not complaining. Yesterday, I went in and waited for several minutes before anyone bothered to take the order. But the quality of the drink were bad. The tapioca ball were not cooked correctly, basically just uncooked flour ball which made it impossible to drink it from the straw and there is some weird stuff in the drink. This is my absolute favorite place for fruit tea! Environment: It's small but cute and clean. Drinks: I've actually only tried the fruit tea here but it is my favorite. For $4, you can't beat it. They even chop the fruits up right in front of you! I've tried the fruit tea at Tea House, Juice Box, and a few other places but they don't compare to this one. So many flavors!! Our favorites: Mango strawberry Mango honeydew Avocado honeydew (sounds weird but it is creamy and sweet and we never get sick of it!) They all taste fresh and amazing. It seems like such a healthy alternative to shakes, and also about 100x more fun to eat. The little tapioca balls make the whole experience so much more fun. The workers are really nice and the fruits and vegetables are displayed so you know that everything is fresh! It's my first time here and I'm using their free WiFi to write this review, woot. Solid 4 stars for my first experience. Since I was looking for a place to sit and use internet and get some work done, the atmosphere is the most important factor for me. Atmosphere: Most smoothie & tapioca places get loud when they blend their drinks, but here with 104.1 playing on the radio, KHOU showing on the TV, it's too noisy to actually study, plus there's only 2 plugs. Most people just buy their drinks and leave. Whereas people working at other places just expect you to know what's going on when you walk in, the lady at the counter was patient and understanding when I took some time to look over all the drinks. She also offers samples from the extra portion of drinks they made, so if you're lucky you can check out what other people had ordered. Food (drinks): I had a sample of their honeydew smoothie, pretty good and made from fresh fruit. I settled on their Japanese Red Bean smoothie - not watered down, and not too thick where I could sip it through the smaller straw. I get the feeling they tend to make their drinks without much sugar, if any, so ask them to add some if that's something you like. Prices: Wow, this is Bellaire prices at its best. As S.W. noted, it's $3 (incl. tax) for most drinks here, and their sizes would be considered a large at other smoothie & tapioca places. I really like that they offer shaved ice in a small size. I can't ever finish one by myself, and for $2.50 (incl. tax) for 4 items, it's a solid cold snack with good variety. Location: This is a newer place at the original Star Snow Ice location in the DiHo Plaza. It's harder to spot since it's in the row of shops that faces the Welcome Supermarket. One word-- CHEAP. The milk teas, smoothies and milkshakes are all $3 after tax, which is amazing. And this is including egg pudding, boba, jelly, etc. It's awesome that the smoothies here are the exact same price as the milk teas!! The fruit looked fresh, and my mango milkshake was delicious, although a bit sweet. The milk tea was solid and I loved the egg pudding. All in all, very worth the price. This will probably be my go-to for bubble tea in Chinatown but this review is tentative until I try their real tea drinks. Last time (first time) I went here, I got the pineapple yogurt smoothie and hey, it wasn't that bad. Albeit it wasn't AMAZING but tbh, I don't really know how I would describe an amazing pineapple yogurt smoothie. Yes, they use real fruit, so you could get super ripe fruit or not so ripe fruit. My pineapple was a little bit on the sour side, now add whatever yogurt they use to that and you get a bit of a tangy/sour/sweet mixture. I'm used to just tangy sweet, so....yeah, not the best. Surprisingly though, it wasn't BAD nor average either. Not really sure. Maybe the price of 4 freaking dollars (with bubbles) is what's making me smile so much about this place (and remember, they use real fruit). Normal teas I think are 3 dollars, so yes, I can't really wait until I come back and try their milk tea to see if they really deserve 5 stars (I'll overlook the non-amazing pineapple yogurt drink).
