Cuckoo's is owned by It's Playtime and is open more or less the same hours they are (roughly from 9-5). Because the cart sometimes goes off premises to an event, it's worth your while to call before you scoot over. Cups of shaved ice are sold in 2 sizes for $4 or $5. There had a ton of flavors including Blue Vanilla, Grape, Lime, Mango, Cherry,Tigers Blood, Pickled Mango, Lemon, Blue Raspberry, Banana, Sour Apple, Blueberry, Cotton Candy, Pina Colada, Cola, Pink Lemonade, Guava Passion Fruit,Li Hing Mango, Strawberry, Passion Orange Guava, Blue Bubblegum, and Cake Batter. You can trick out your shaved ice with a Snow Cap (for an extra creamy sweet texture), or Fairy Dust (glitter), or candies for half a buck or so more. No review of Cuckoo's would be complete without a glowing report on the young lady running the stand. Hawaiian Kitchen, based in Bethpage, absolutely knocked it out of the park! From the start, they were incredibly easy to work with and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. I had originally requested 2-liter bottles of soda, but since they didn't have them in stock, they proactively delivered individual cans instead to ensure our team had plenty of drinks. Now, for the food--it was phenomenal. Our office hasn't stopped raving about it! The Coconut Shrimp and Grilled Shrimp were huge hits, and the Angus Steak was incredibly tender. Even the Chicken Fried Rice was a standout, and all of their signature sauces were delicious. They also did a large house salad for us with the most incredible Ginger dressing. I had numerous people ask me where I found them, and I couldn't wait to order for their next small house parties or to pick up dinner on the way home. It was all so fresh and not greasy. We also ordered spring rolls that were so light and crispy, pineapple fried rice that was really delicious, and marinated chicken and steamed broccoli. If you're looking for reliable catering that people will actually get excited about, I can't recommend Hawaiian Kitchen enough. THANK YOU for making me look like a superstar! The Build-Your-Own orders hold up the line. The price was too bad for a poke bowl, under $20. On other Parkville visits, I've gotten boba tea from this stall as they share it with the Okinawa Boba Co. I love the Ube Milk Tea. If I'm in a poke bowl mood at Parkville Market, I'll try another bowl and/or have them go light on the sauce.

The inside is decorated, and it really does feel like a little bit of a tropical getaway. The staff here were friendly and were able to make some recommendations. The drinks were pretty good, and I really liked the food I got. I'd ordered the Four Seasons, which had a little bit of everything. We also split a pu pu platter since a lot of people had talked about it and I felt like we couldn't really get the true experience without having it. All in all, while I don't think I will be a regular here due to the distance, I look forward to coming back again if I am ever local at all and I would definitely stop by if you like tiki drinks and good food.

I had heard of Lee's for years, and have always wanted to go. I was finally ready to make the trek from Queens to NJ, with 9 friends in tow. So I excitedly called to make a reservation. The conversation started out completely normal. He put me on hold (no biggie) to get the reservation book, asked me how many people, and the date. He then went into a list of "rules" they have for reservations. With each point, he was seething with annoyance. Like they're doing their customers a huge favor. But I didn't mind, I just wanted to make the reservation. $75 deposit. Fine. If we cancel for any reason they keep the deposit. Fine. It can be used as a credit if we come another day. Ok. He said a few other rules, and one stuck out to me that I didn't understand. He said "there's no reserved seating". As the point of my phone call was to make a - reservation - I asked to clarify, literally in the nicest tone. He immediately got annoyed at me, and said that they have upstairs and downstairs seating, and they can't guarantee either or. It was at this point I said to him, "I feel like you're upset with me and I'm not sure why." I then explained that I've never been there, but I'm a huge fan and have always wanted to visit, and that this would be for my birthday. I tried to give him a chance to reset and steer the conversation back to- at the very least a calm tone. Spoiler alert- didn't work. He then asks me what time I want. I say 6 PM. You would have thought I just asked him to give me the moon. He got very upset and went on a rant about how "people come, and then the music (he was referring to the karaoke) starts and then they leave." I told him we actually wanted the music, that I knew it started at 7:30 PM and was requesting 6 PM so that we had some time to talk before the karaoke began. He very angrily told me no, that I had to pick one or the other. That if I wanted music, it had to be a reservation after 7 PM- that I had to pick one or the other. And then went on another rant about "changing over the tables" and "they don't want people there til closing" and "how do I expect them to make money." Well for starters, you can provide basic customer service. It was at this point I thanked him for his time and said I didn't want to go there anymore. It's clear they have had various issues with prior customers. But I did not deserve to be treated like that. After hanging up, I was devasted. My birthday plans had crumbled in the span of a 7 minute phone call. Luckily I found another establishment more than happy to take my reservation- and my hard earned money.
