Each person gets a menu to fill out in the beginning, and when you've made good progress on your first round of food, the waiter comes by with your second paper. I loved the sweet potato tempura, but looking back, I should have only ordered 3 servings because god that was filling. I barely managed to finish everything that I ordered. The seaweed salad lived up to everyone's hype on here, so I'm glad I got to try it. As for the sushi, I liked the Samurai Roll, but thought the Dragon Roll was 85% cucumber and 15% eel inside--not as satisfying. The salmon and mackerel sashimi were decent though. And the tamagoyaki (egg) was a little too sweet for my liking... I should make it myself at home soon. It is surprising how slow this place is capable of being, regardless of how many chefs or how many people in the restaurant. We have been here multiple times across different time periods and we have waited an average of one hour for our food while sitting down. I arrived at 2:30 PM for lunch. And I saw that the kitchen closed at 3pm so I thought I was pretty close, but good to go Immediately two waitresses came over and told me ... I repeat told me to hurry up and order because the kitchen closes at three. Talk about pressure! So I ordered miso soup, a devil roll, and a Pepsi. So as I'm sitting in my booth, waiting for the food to be prepared, and I was keeping an eye on the sushi, chef, he sneezed. OK, I hope he wiped his hands and none of that crap went into the sushi roll he was making. Anyways, out came the soda and the miso soup. The miso soup was served in a plastic bowl about 3/4 of the way up. Also included was a plastic soup spoon. Looking around, this place was decent inside. Why would they be serving in plastic bowls with plastic utensils? This made no sense but OK. Out came the devil roll, and it looked like sushi, except it had this weird red spam like texture stuff on the top of it. I had no clue what it was. I ate it, but it was barely edible and seeing it was 14.95 , I wasn't about to send it back. So the two waitresses kept staring at me like saying hurry up hurry up hurry, hurry hurry And all my 65+ years on this earth I never felt so rushed.. These waitresses were not friendly. As soon as I was finished it looked like the manager, came over and immediately cleaned the table. She didn't give me the best looks either. My cousin and I came to sushi house on a Friday afternoon during their all you can eat lunch special, which we were pleasantly about. It was a bit busy and a lot of the tables were occupied but we were promptly seated. We both ordered gyoza and vegetable spring rolls which were fried to perfection and crispy. This spot is always busy! Because they have delicious food, fast service and a lot of bang for your buck if you haven't eaten all day and do their all you can eat menu. I've been there a few times now and can say that the tastiness of the food is consistent, always hot and doesn't take long to come out. I hope chefs know how amazing their food is. The only downside is that it's a smaller establishment so seats fill quick especially when families come. But service is fast so we waited maybe 5 mins and were seated! I decided to order take out for lunch since I was in the mood for sushi. They have great lunch deals. I called and my order was ready within 15 minutes so It was nice and quick since I had to get back to work. I wound up getting the Philadelphia roll and a tuna avocado roll which were delicious. For the lunch special it came with miso soup and a ginger salad(lettuce with the ginger dressing). I was very happy when I found out I could get brown rice been trying to be a little healthier. Ignoring the fact that I ordered one with cream cheese. But overall the food was good and fresh. I will definitely come back. I stumbled on this Sushi House location and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fish, the portions, and the service. I was certainly happy with everything we ordered here, and they do not skimp on the fish and don't go heavy on the rice (something I really dislike about a lot of places, but these guys make sure you're getting an excellent amount of fish). One of my favorite spots to get sushi. Very small and intimate but it almost lets you know the food is about to be BOMB! I always recommend getting the all you can eat, they have lots of appetizer options that can really fill you up! You may wait awhile to be seated (another good indicator) but once seated, the service is fairly quick. They have the best fried rice, I can't leave without a batch. I 100% recommend the volcano roll, super crunchy, moscato, or spicy Kani roll off of the all you can eat menu. The sashimi is also very fresh & of great quality. All you can eat sushi is usually a hit or miss. When it's a hit, it still ain't all that but Sushi House here in Plantsville and NOT Rocky Hill really exceeded my expectations. First note, it's all you can eat so the quality isn't expected to be all the way up there but honestly this one's better than the other. My rolls came out extremely fast and still had good form. There was only one roll that reminded me I was eating all you can eat sushi and sadly it was the Plantsville roll. Best way I could describe it is that it was stale. My girlfriend was smart about it and picked off ingredients from our other rolls to make it more enjoyable so there's an idea for y'all who order it and don't wanna pay the a la carte fee at the end for not finishing your sushi. The 8 pieces of Shrimp Sashimi were laid out on a bed of shredded cucumber, they were alright I guess. The other rolls I had which included the Mt. Fuji, Birthday, Super Crunchy and Volcano Rolls were excellent! One roll I'd like to point out is the Lucky Roll. I have never had a roll with a banana in it. Surprisingly I loved it but it was very filling so keep that in mind. Oh and the banana is fried then spread out on top of the roll so keep in mind it is very sweet. As for things that aren't rolled into a magical piece of art, we also ordered Gyoza, Shumai, Seaweed Salad, Chicken Teriyaki, Chicken Katsu, White Rice and a bunch of Shrimp Tempura, everything was surprisingly good! Shrimp Tempura was crunchy, slightly more panko breading but still amazing. Gyoza and Shumai were both fried and already in a sweet, sour and spicy sauce. Chicken Katsu was great, the Katsu sauce was extremely gooey. The Chicken Teriyaki wasn't dry and I'm happy enough with just that. Seaweed Salad was Seaweed Salad. Service was surprisingly friendly! Only reason I say surprisingly is because their Rocky Hill counterparts are quite the opposite. So for an all you can eat sushi restaurant, this is one of the best I've ever been to in this area. It was really easy to make my money back and one day later I still don't feel like I'm sick or going to die. With very little room for improvement, 4-Stars! read more

Service is prompt in this smaller (a bit confined) space to table turnover is pretty fast. If you arrive on a busy night, you can expect to wait. You can bring in your own beverages here, so often a bottle of wine or a can of beer can be brought to enjoy along with the sushi. It's not hard really. We simply overthought the process & was afraid to over order. We filled out the order card with all we wanted and when the second round was offered we couldn't partake. I have not been in a while. The food was a mix for me. Spider roll was cold and not sure what crab they used but very little of it and don't taste like crab. The rainbow was good and my favorite was the super crunchy. Service was very slow took 40 minutes to get food. My main complaint and what will keep me from returning is that everything was styrofoam and/or plastic. No, glass or metal silverware to be found. What an environmental disaster!!!!!!!!!!!! All you can eat sushi AND BYOB! Now...I am not even a sushi fan, really. I don't eat it. My husband really enjoys it so I went out with him, he enjoyed a couple appetizers, salad and various rolls (spicy tuna, shrimp termpura, Plantsville roll, etc) and was pleased. He ate so much on his first order he didn't bother a second order of food. I had the hibachi chicken and scallops which was presented beautifully. What really blew me away was their fried rice that came with it. I think that was the best fried rice I ever had, so flavorful and rice was cooked well. Staff was extremely attentive while walking around all the time, keeping an eye on tables. And honestly the two of us ate in like 45 minutes! So quick! Will we be back? Totally! THE FEMALE OWNER IS EXTREMELY MEAN AND RUDE. I'm so glad I'm not the only one and see others commenting the same thing. I asked her how long would the wait be and she said "I can't go up to a table and ask them how long it will be until they are done eating???? so I DONT KNOW" So I left to get my friend and come back. Another couple stood in front of us by that time. So I waited in the doorway for her to talk to the owner about being next. Now that I've been to Sushi House a bunch of times, it's time to update my review - which in general is unchanged. This place ROCKS. You can't go wrong with the Bento Box or Sushi Lunch specials for $9-10. My favorite bento box is the salmon teriyaki. I still haven't eaten my way entirely through the sushi roll choices for the lunch specials, but that's because I can never get past the Philly roll or the Mexico roll, which are my favorites from here. I haven't gotten a bad roll yet here, so pick something that appeals to you and go with it. I haven't eaten in here - I work about 5 minutes away and come pick my food up at lunch. It's always ready and waiting for me when I show up, and the timeframe given is never longer than $15-20 minutes. The woman who's there during lunch is always a peach too. One night I'm going to have to drag my boyfriend down here (We live 35 minutes away) so we can actually sit down and eat as last time I was here I saw a sign for all you can eat sushi for $20 (I think it was $18 or $19, but I'm calling it $20 to be on the safe side.) As far as I know, they still don't serve liquor here, but they are BYOB and there's a package store right next door for your mealtime booze needs. I think they might even have delivery now with a minimum - but don't quote me on that. All you can eat sushi is what is advertised here, and not that I wanted to come in an bankrupt the ocean (see what I did there?) anyway, it's sushi, it's good, and its just a bit smaller than regular sushi. Smaller/thinner cuts of tuna, a fifth of a crab stick, a smaller shrimp, you get the picture. Now if you look at my photos you see, that as long as you limit your tickets to two, you can have every roll on the menu, rolls are filled with mostly veggies, I had a roll called a Godzilla that was tempura fried rice, there was supposed to be "fish mix" inside, couldn't find any. There are rainbow and dragon rolls, with very thin slices of fish. So don't get me wrong, if you have the guts you could order every roll and 8 (the limit) pieces of Nigiri and if you can do it with a straight face you could literally kill yourself with sushi. Most of us have dignity and surely that's what they count on. They also count on you ordering a coke for $1.50 then they ask you every 8 seconds if you want a refill. I said yes and they came out with a can. (knew I'd see that on the bill, yep $1.50 a pop) Anyway it's assembly line sushi they have 5 chefs cranking it out, service is fast, staff if nice (especially if you want a refill) but for $23 on the weekends plus $3 for a coke, not a fan, but I can say I tried it. read more
