I want to start by giving a massive shoutout to our hostess, Itzel. She was absolutely wonderful! Even though our server didn't bother to help us get seated, Itzel completely stepped up. She was incredibly nice, very attentive, and ended up being the one to serve us as well. I'm so glad she helped us out--honestly, she is the only reason we would consider coming back, and we will only return if she is the one serving us! Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was disappointing. Aside from the server being completely unhelpful with seating, the management here is seriously lacking. While we were there, I noticed one of the cashiers getting cussed out by an aggressive customer, It was incredibly uncomfortable to witness, and no employee deserves to be treated like that without their management backing them up. Five stars for Itzel, but management and the rest of the staff really need to step it up. read more

Don't listen to the bad reviews, Gojo's is one of the best breakfast spots I've had. The staff was friendly, the restaurant is nice and clean, and the food came out very fast. The pancakes were fluffy and perfect, and my skirt steak skillet came out with a HUGE portion of food, and all for a reasonable price. 10/10 read more

Looked up this place prior to getting our hotel set up. In town for our kids civil air patrol graduation. It's perfect walking distance from our hotel. Only fall back between the two. Is the fact that a dmv center is in the middle. So parking is kind of slim picking. They do have it noted for our hotel on some spots. Our server was Shannon. Very kind and attentive when and if we needed anything. Husband didn't eat. He drank coffee, while I wanted to try their Italian skillet. That skilled was so good! I couldn't believe how loaded it was. It has onions, green peppers, cheese, hasbrowns, and my eggs were scrambled eggs. I barely could finish my meal. I had to take the rest with me. That will become my lunch for later. Just an overall chill greasy spoon diner. They only stay open till 4pm though. read more

Gojo's has been a staple in my neighborhood for as long as I can remember so as soon as I arrived in town, I couldn't wait to stop in. Our server greeted us right away and was very friendly. The restaurant was very clean as well. My family and I ordered our food and it was served pretty quickly. I chose the Denver Skillet and it tasted just as great as I remembered. My mom mentioned how amazing their grits were so I tried them and they were buttery, creamy and delicious. She ordered the House Delight Omelette and she enjoyed it but mentioned it had a tad bit too much feta. Unfortunately, as my stepdad was eating his omelette, he bit into a piece of metal. It looked to be a small piece of metal that had broken off of something. Needless to say, it was an unfortunate experience. The manager did comp his meal, apologized profusely and gave us all free dessert, which I thought was great customer service. Overall, it was really nice to stop in and grab a bite to eat at Gojo's. I have plenty of memories there and outside of the unpleasant situation, we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and service. read more

Came here for brunch after some morning errands. I haven't been to Gojo's in some time because they stopped serving dinner and staying open 24 hours (there are literally no 24 hour food options nearby except for Denny's and fast food). Gojo's just does breakfast and lunch now, and perhaps that's where they make the best business. I had a Denver skillet and my boyfriend has a Country skillet. Both of our breakfasts could have used some salt and pepper in the potatoes but I guess that can always be added yourself. Coffee was hot and our server was very attentive with service and refills. I've been coming to this place for years. They fell off during covid but got back on track. My son and I eat breakfast here at least twice a week. Last week, I had lunch here, and the food was horrible. My son and I had breakfast here today, and I will never come back. First off, the last breakfast my son had on a Trump t-shirt and the cashier who's usually pleasant was extremely rude. This time our breakfast was cold, turkey sausage was old, and my 2 eggs had cut up sausage in it that I didn't ask for. We aren't complainers and always give 10-15 dollars tip for a 30 dollar breakfast for 2. I asked for mushrooms, onions, bell pepper, and tomatoes for 2 eggs. I was charged 10.00 for that. I've gotten the eggs that way before, and was never charged an additional 10.00...I know they were pissed that they had to make the food over, all but the French toast, so they got their money back via the 6 pieces of tomato, onion, mushrooms and bell pepper. 10.00 was way too much. 2 eggs don't require 10.00 extra ingredients. You would rather collect 10.00 from customers who visit your establishments 2-3 times a week, instead of making the food fresh. Horrible experience. If you don't leave feeling Full, I would be shocked. I had the Gojo burger with. Fries. A half pound of Angus smothered with grilled onions and green peppers topped with a chunk of cheddar. (Next time I'm getting the Swiss.) My wife had a large dose of liver and onions. Very well prepared. Chicken noodle soup isn't my fav but the pea soup is top notch. This has been my go to resultant for many year, and the service has been above average. But today was far below that. First of all, the female didn't tell us her name, although we didn't wait too long before she came to take our order, the order itself was not what we ordered. My order was the Mega Breakfast which I wanted grits in place of the hash brown, and eggs over easy. Upon receiving my order, I got scrambled eggs and hash browns and when I told the waitress she informed me that they didn't have grits, although, one off the customers sitting across from us got grits shorty after I received my order. My toast didn't arrive until for another ten minutes and my partner didn't get her toast until she was almost finished with her meal. The same goes for for getting our coffee refilled, we were almost done eating before the waitress return to ask if we wanted a refill. As I said, this is our weekend breakfast go to restaurants, but this was not the best experience I'm had. Not saying that I want go back, but hopefully we get better service that we have experienced in the past. read more

I am going to preface this review by pointing out that my issue is with the delivery process only. This morning I called in to place an order for delivery as I am the only person at work today and cannot leave. When I asked how one of the items on the menu was cooked it seemed as though NO ONE i spoke to was able to provide me with an answer. Finally I placed my order and was told that my food would "arrive within the hour" okay, thats fine. What is NOT fine is that my food took literally 1Hour and 45Minutes to get to me. By that time my shrimp were cold and stale and much smaller than I had anticipated. When I called the store to check on my food as i had at this point already been waiting an hour and a half they gave me the run around. No one seems to know what to do around there and when I finally asked to speak with the manager, the person on the other end of the phone sounded like an adolescent teenage male who simply said im sorry. Zero Stars. Ordered the fried catfish dinner. The lettuce in the salad tasted like there was still dirt on it and 1/4 was brown. My daughter had the chicken noodle soup and the noodles were so overcooked they were dissolving when she stirred it. The rolls are still in plastic packaging and dry/old. Fine. Main course: baked potato tasted like it was baked the day before, refrigerated overnight then warmed in the oven again. Gritty and dry even after the butter and sourcream. Greenbeans were beyond flavorless. They tasted like lukewarm tap water. Then the main star... the catfish. The filet itself was of good quality and size but they ruined it... used a dusty breading that seemed to be used for the broasted chicken. There was NO seasoning at all and the oil... ohhh the oil... that's all I could taste. Either it was old oil or the oil was too cold so it absorbed all the grease. (I cook too, I know some things, just didn't want to cook tonight, ya know?) The waitress came to check on us and I told her I couldn't eat it. I only had 2 small bites of fish and 1 bite of greenbeans. She took the plate and offered to get me something else. I simply declined and said I'd just eat the baked potato. My daughter ordered the same thing but smothered it in tarter sauce and was able to eat half. I heard the waitress her tell the manager (or owner?). Then he came over... this is where the fun begins. He asked what was wrong so I calmly told him my thoughts. He snapped back with "Well the oil is at 365°." OK, well I don't know what to tell you. All I tasted was oil, no seasoning. "We don't season our food because not all people like seasoning." Ha.... what surviving resturant doesn't season thier food?? He was so combative I realized there was no talking to this man so I just said, "Well we have a difference in opinion and we can just leave it at that." Like if you came here to fight just don't say anything to me at all. They ended up taking my fish (not my daughter's but that's ok, wasn't expecting it) off the check... but charged me $4.00 for that puney ass reheated potato... oh, y'all petty. OK. So sad. GREAT service! I'm giving it 5 stars mostly for the kind and friendly service. Also, the portions are more than generous. I was given additional sides when I finished what I had, without asking! After living here in Illinois for 8 months I have ate at many diners including; full moon cafe, paragon, Denny's, and ihop, and this has been by far the best. The waitress was new but polite and the gravy was a bit too floury but the food was excellent, specifically the breakfast. The serving sizes are large and filling. And they do have a country fried steak breakfast it just isn't on the menu ($8.75, -and very filling). The military discount was appreciated as well, I'll be going back again soon. read more

Whyyyyy all the bad reviews?? We've been there 2 times in the last 2 weeks...both on Sunday for their delicious cream of chicken soup. I really like their broasted chicken and they have a great cole slaw. My husband likes their chicken fried steak (but with beef gravy). Both times Tammy was our server and she was amazing! She greeted us quickly both times, even though she was busy, and we NEVER ran out of soda or needed anything. Our food was delivered at a great pace all the while very friendly and welcoming. The best service we've had in a long time! We will be regular's though it's a bit of a drive and we have about 100 restaurants in our town and pass another 20+ on the way....the is a nice, comfortable and clean restaurant with great service! The ONLY reason it wasn't a 5 star was the cashier and host both days weren't very friendly- couldn't get a smile if I pleaded for it. Located across the parking lot from the Quality Inn we were staying at, Gojo's seemed like the easiest and most convenient choice for a quick dinner. The menu looked promising, and the restaurant came recommended from the front desk clerk at the hotel. Although he appeared to be trying (I think), our waiter was a bit incompetent. He didn't seem to know the restaurant's menu at all, and couldn't answer simple questions we had about the food. Upon delivering a plate of hot food, he winced in pain at the heat of the plate, and then proceeded to quickly throw it into my hands to get it out of his own. Oh and in case you were looking for a reason to completely lose your appetite, I watched the waiter pick his nose with a napkin while he was waiting by the kitchen for our food. I have a feeling the health department might have a problem with that little scenario... The food was very below average. We had an array of items--the spanikopita, the stir-fry, the steak fries, and the pancake/egg combo. Nothing was even close to being delicious. Pretty disappointing, in fact. The only saving grace was a scoop of blueberry ice cream, that was actually pretty tasty. To order food and to have it not delivered is ridiculous and to have no one pick up the phone is even more ridiculous. I have do go drive to restaurant now to get my money back. Bruh. Awful. I ordered Cheese Curds and they were 10 dollars and they only served like 15 of them. Half of them literally didn't even have cheese. The hash browns are comparable to greasy sloppy potatoes. My pancakes were as dense as a platinum bar. My eggs weren't edible without a mountain of salt and pepper. The rolls were literally given packaged in PLASTIC. The vanilla shake was the only good part, but even that had obviously store bought cool whip. :( read more
