Stopped by while waiting for my flight and it did not disappoint. The service was fast and they gave me plenty of food.

This is my new go to for quick airport food while navigating through Chicago. For $9 i got this massive dog with all the fixings. Im from NC and they dont do dogs like this down here. I normally wouldnt get a hot dog with all the toppings this had, but since I was in Chicago I had to try it Chicago style and was very glad I did. It had a great crunch and was full of flavor. I wouldnt recommend standing or eating this over anything but a table since it is juicy with the peppers and pickle. Staff were great even despite me wearing my Packers tee. I enjoyed the banter since it was game day for the two teams.

Can't go wrong with a pretty authentic Chicago dog, with all the toppings, for $9. Good flavor and crunch made it really satisfying.

    Cheese fries in terminal five

This is THE place to eat your feelings in Terminal 5. I myself inhaled an order of cheese fries while stressed out about a flight delay! They were fresh, tasty, and crisp, with ample cheese. The Chicago style polish my BF grabbed here was also great, and among the better dogs we had over our entire trip, shockingly. But the real proof that this place rocks is that it's the only airport food stand that had a line snaking down the hall. The people have spoken, and they prefer Gold Coast Dogs!

Sure it's an airport and I wouldn't suggest anyone to stop by a NY/NJ airport pizza joint to find authentic slices, but this is a dog, grilled at that, and known in Chicago, I guess, according to my YELP research. To be honest with you, there was extreme bias stacked up against anything Chicago does that NY/NJ cooks up, in my book, pizza, steak, and especially dogs, which Jersey does the best. Now, it's more of trying Vienna beef that interested me more than the Chicago style itself. The dog was very refreshing. I love the heat from the dog and crispy coldness of the veggies. I can see why the Second City enjoys these treats. I'm not a pickle dude, so the huge dill and relish was surprisingly well meshed together. The beef was good, but I think it's the combination itself that was very delicious.

Gold Coast Dogs at International Terminal 5

Opening in 1993, the International Terminal 5 at O'Hare Airport was designed by Ralph Johnson of the estimable architecture firm Perkins and Will. Its external appearance may not wow you, but its gentle curving silhouette and cool white surfaces create a soothing yet soaring streamlined look. The interior signage could be better though. There are Chicago-style food outlets here that are open all night, such as Gold Coast Dogs.

The flavors made me say I'd stop again. The price, on the other hand, is offensive. I ordered the char dog Chicago style. It looks like they split a hot dog and threw it on the grill. Good enough for me. It tasted good but for the price of a char dog and a juice, I could have eaten a meal and Chilli's and had food left over. On my next visit, I decided to try the Italian beef. There was a sign that offered gyros but they seemed more proud of the Italian beef. I'd never tried it but I'd heard it was a Chicago staple. He asked if I wanted it Chicago style and I answered, "Of course." He asked if I wanted it dipped. "In what?" I asked looking as ignorant as I was about the matter. I told him to go for it after he explained they could dip it in "the stuff the meat was in". Meat juice sounded good to me! This thing smelled horrible to my nose, like nothing I'd ever smelled. I opened it and it looked like chitterlings on a bun! Someone please tell me that's not what I ate. I was a little hungry and a lot brave so I closed my eyes and put it in my mouth. It was difficult but the more I chewed, the more I liked it. It was a better value than the char dog and had a whole lot more flavor. Contrary to what my nose had been telling me, I'm a fan of very strong flavors and this brought it. The taste resembled Italian sausage but not as good and a lot bolder. When it's busy, it is VERY confusing. Make sure you wait at the "order here" sign and make someone take your order before walking over to the only manned station and paying your money. I watched at least 5 people pay and wait only to find out that their food order had never been placed. They also sell fancy potato chips (sweet potato, kettle cooked, sea salt, New York Cheddar) and Thatcher's popcorn. Fruit cups, salads, and juices are available on the other side. For that though, I'd go to Starbucks. Starbucks is cheaper. Imagine that!

    LOL ... Chicagoans
    Berta J.

The burger was good, but they don't have listed that Chicago ='s automatic mustard on every hot dog & hamburger without asking you and ketchup & mayonnaise is blasphemy so I wasn't aware they'd put mustard on my burger til it was too late. I am not a mustard fan on burgers. I scraped it off & ate what I could. The burger flavor was good & the fries were not over salted & not overly oily. A good airport place to grab a bite.

    Jumbo Chicago Combo Delicious!

The service is still made-to-order and they alot 15 minutes to make the dish. If you're in a hurry, do not order from here. They do allow dine in as they have a limited amount of dining tables and access at their bar. One good thing about this place is they source some of their ingredients locally.

I came here mainly for the convenience and to be honest, had my expectations set pretty low. I was promptly seated. The dining area is a lot more empty, but the bar was much more lively. They have a pretty robust drink menu, but funnily enough do not have any hazy IPAs. I ordered a Stella Artois (draft) and a small was already $12.5, which was wayyy overpriced for me, But again, this is the type of expense I expected to pull for my laziness since I already expected everything here will be overpriced. I ordered the fish and chips with steak fries. To my surprise, their fish was actually very well cooked! The batter was very thin, which I like, and the fish was very fresh. I was slightly annoyed by the fact that they cut off the end of my lemon, so when I squeezed my lemon, the lemon juice squirted both ways making a small mess over my table. The steak fries were kinda dry, but nothing a little ketchup can't fix. However again, the price was kinda ridiculous. The fish and chip was $29. Overall with tips, I spent $50 for the entire meal. Overall, I think if you are short on time and don't have the chance to explore Chicago, then you are kinda stuck choosing this place since it is conveniently located within the hotel itself. But don't expect the price to justify the quality of the food since everything here is expectedly overpriced. The food I had was good, not amazing, and so definitely did not deserve that price tag.

And wow, I haven't seen such a big, festive, and popular fast food restaurant grand opening in a long time. The last fast food grand opening that I witnessed that was as big and popular and created such a fuss might have been either a Naf Naf or a Chick Fil-A grand opening many years ago in Naperville. This was quite a bash that Guzman y Gomez conducted on their grand opening today. The crowd, including ourselves, were attracted by the $5 deal on burritos and burrito bowls. We came in at about 4:45pm and there were police directing traffic, advertising sign holders standing along busy Mannheim Rd, a 3-man band playing at the entrance, and also a modest queue to enter and order. The place was hopping and it was festive for sure. I was told GYG does this at all of the grand openings for their stores, and that's cool! Well, we ordered a carryout burrito with beef brisket and pinto beans and also a burrito bowl with flank steak and pinto beans. Even with so many customers, we still had only a 10 minute wait for the food prep. The burrito and burrito bowl were tip-top fresh and delicious and at $5 were 40% off of their regular $8.30 price. There were a ton of employees all busy and looking coordinated and GYG did a good job being prepared for the all day crush today. Their store is big and bright, and has a patio section as well as a drive thru. Congratulations on a very successful grand opening day and welcome to Des Plaines! Tomorrow, July 18, they commence with their regular pricing and product offerings.

Decor pays homage to its hometown and old school pizzaria vibe. There's one side specifically for togo/online pick up. Restrooms are clean and there are plenty of parking. We noticed some people just sitting on their tables playing with their phones like they were done eating...and then it dawned on us that they were waiting for their 45 mins. pizza. SMH CUSTOMER SERVICE: We were greeted and seated immediatedly. Our server was very nice and she answered all of our questions...I just wished she asked what pizza we wanted first because the last thing she told us after we took our drink order and everything else is that the pizza will take 45 minutes to cook! Which in my mind sounds like a gimmick for us to buy more food while we wait but we were super hungry anyway so it was not an issue for us that day. Anyway, she saw couldn't decide what pizza to get so she suggested we can order half and half! Success! Then, when our pizza finally arrived, our pizza server (a sweet Filipina) insisted on serving our pizza to demonstrate the dramactic cheese pull..and which I appreciated that she indulged me on doing it again for an insta boomering...success! FOOD We ordered the a Chicago deep pizza ofcourse, 10 inch, half pepperoni and half the special. We added the sampler and calamari and house salad. The tomatoes on the bruschetta tasted so light and refreshing on top of the fresh mozarella and bread that even my son whom dislikes tomatoes devoured them. The fried mozarella on their marinari was bomb, same with the chicken nuggets. Now the calamari was completely unexpected. I thought it was just going to be a bunch of chewy rings...but instead it came with the tentacles and fried lemon (which are very bitter) and banana peppers. They were so good especially with a dollop of the marinara sauce. The house salad with the Giordano dressing was delicious. And they did not lie, that pizza arrived in about 45 minutes and by then we were feeling a bit stuffed. The pizza was as promised...it was thick, cheesey and stuffed with fat pieces of sausage and lots of pepperoni. I will probably hold off on the onions next time because there was a lot. Sad to say we had no room for dessert but we were very satisfied. Overall, this visit was an excellent in person experience. We've had a to-go order and a frozen one before but experiencing it in person and in Chicago made it extra special. Price point is pretty fair considering on the quality and amount of food you get. Perfect place to dine with groups of all sizes. May want to order ahead prior to getting to the restaurant, or take your time eating the appetizers to help pass time while you wait for your pizza.
