I spent months researching the ins and outs of silver, what made things valuable, what hurt their value, what percentage of silver different types of coins were... But I was still way in the weeds on how the process works. What I really needed was a "silver guy." Someone who could look at what I had and give me an honest assessment of its value. I read reviews of multiple precious metals sellers in the SCV, and I wasn't really pleased with what I was reading. One, in fact, apparently used to be really great and then then got sold, and the new owner left a bad taste in the mouth of many of his most recent customers. Then I came across Bryon and SCV gold & silver, and his reviews were, forgive the pun, sterling. Everyone noted how nice he was during the process. No one talked about feeling like they were being taken. And that's the thing I've learned during this process, silver has a value... It's a pretty set value... So the thing you are looking for when you are selling is what percentage the house takes from that value, and whether or not the broker feels trustworthy, makes you feel comfortable while doing the transaction. I 100% got that from Bryon. I felt like I didn't need to count my fingers after we shook hands. He's a genuinely nice guy and it was a pleasure doing business with him. He was honest and upfront about what the current weighted value of silver is, he had absolutely no qualms about me checking to make sure what he said was right, he even found a gold coin among the silver and identified it as such and paid me going rate for it. Someone else would have taken advantage of me not knowing what I had. I cannot recommend Bryon and SCV gold & silver more. They are absolutely trustworthy and good people to work with. And I can't stress the value of being nice in a business like this. If you have precious metals to sell, I wouldn't hesitate to go and see these guys. If I could give more than five stars I would.

When I arrived, Art tested the bracelet and claimed it was only 10k gold, offering me $300 for it. Even if the bracelet had actually been 10k, $300 is an extremely low offer. At the time of writing this review, 7.92 grams of 10k gold has a melt value of roughly $530. After leaving, I went to another shop a few blocks away to have the gold tested again. They confirmed that the bracelet is in fact 14k gold. I highly recommend AVOIDING doing business with this store! Please keep in mind, at the time of the quote, gold was valued at $5100 per ounce and when I visited, it dropped to $4600 per ounce. I came in, and was told it would be $400-$450 because my total carat weight was in actuality 1.58. I let them know about the estimate I received, to which she angrily said, this is why I hate it when they do online quotes, because people don't know what sizes they have. And then she also got upset because she doesn't know who gave me the quote because of the way Yelp profiles are set up. My mistake for the sizing, but it's not even a full 1/10th of a carat weight. An extra $100 for 0.08. I would understand an increase relative to the weight, had it been 2 total carat weight, that's completely reasonable at half a carat per $100. She said it costs $200 to source the settings, and it doesn't include the labor to polish and clean the item. She started stuttering when she was trying to justify the pricing, so I knew she was lying. A quick google search tells you differently, and they have access to warehouse pricing, so let's be real, she chose to arbitrarily charge more because she felt like it. I left and went with another local jeweler, where they gave me the exact same setting for $300. Don't take what they tell you at face value, do your own research, and make sure you don't get swindled by this business trying to take advantage because they think you don't know any better.
