[[HIGHLIGHT]]They have indoor tables which you can reserve or the out door patio![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Cannot wait to come back here for date night!

They don't have a food menu as expected but we did get their bar bites offerings: the olives and assorted nuts and chips - no complaints there. All I know is that the service was good, drinks were great. Held my lady's hand, mouth slightly open, smiling, that unmistakable look of sensory overload like, what did I just walk into? As I explored more, I realized the space wraps around outdoors, which was equally impressive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio was lush with plants, candle-lit tables, lounge chairs, and an intimate, relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After collecting myself, we headed back to the bar and noticed the pharmacy-themed mixology concept. Bartenders in white coats, like pharmacists, crafting drinks in beakers and Erlenmeyer flasks, stirring with glass rods. It was playful and clever without feeling gimmicky. I ordered their take on an Old Fashioned, and my date had a gin-based cocktail. Both were excellent, balanced, thoughtful, and well executed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We eventually discovered a hidden downstairs nook outside with two lounge chairs, a small table, and a candle. It felt incredibly private and intimate, like sitting in your own backyard under the stars, completely forgetting there was a lively bar just upstairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That moment alone made the experience special. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As the night went on, the crowd grew and the energy shifted. (I don't think this is good) The water dispenser was never refilled for us to serve our own water. (So what's the point?) I sat at a table outside with my date and 10-15 minutes later a server with a "tude" came and asked us to move because the table had been reserved. This is understandable; the issue is that I asked: "do you have tables I can reserve now?" He looked at me with a dumbfounded look on his face and said: "go online and check. I don't know" with a condescending attitude. (Like I was bothering him-it's not what he said, it's how he said it, really) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Luckily, there were some cool people that made the night more fun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But one server with a poor attitude will get a business closed down. Note this; they follow time to the clock. (Stop mixing cocktails before 1AM and security rushes everyone out as soon as lights turn on) RUSHING..... I believe in second chances. We walked into Apotheke Chinatown around 7 PM on a Saturday night and were surprised to get a table right away--no wait at all, which is rare for a Saturday in NYC. I ordered the Melon King Fizz, and it was such a standout. Made with gin, eucalyptus, cantaloupe, calamansi, hawthorne berry, lime, and club soda, it was refreshing, citrusy, and slightly herbal in the best way. You can really taste the care that goes into it--the ingredients are house-made daily using organic produce, herbs, and botanicals. The cocktail menu is unlike anything I've seen. It's divided into six categories: Health & Beauty, Aphrodisiacs, Pain Killers, Euphorics, Stimulants, and Stress Relievers. Each drink feels intentional and rooted in Apotheke's apothecary theme, which carries through in the decor and vibe too - moody, cozy, and a little mysterious. Highly recommend if you're looking for a cocktail experience that's a little off the beaten path but still totally polished.

My date ordered an old fashion which was strong but nothing special. I live right around the block from Apotheke, so it's become my go-to neighborhood bar. The drinks here are honestly some of the best I've tried anywhere. They're strong, flavorful, and worth the price. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is cozy with a nice DJ spinning music, and there's plenty of seating unless it's reserved.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I appreciate the outdoor patio where you can smoke, while the inside stays smoke-free.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also change their menu regularly, so there are always new drinks to try. We chose a random bar near DTLA. We weren't disappointed at all. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved the ambiance and the lab coats as well. They did it justice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The seats are taken right away and most are reserved so there are no real tables or chairs to sit at so we opted to hang out in the cold but found a heater that we gravitated towards.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I can't recall the names of each drink we had as this was back in December 2025. We found street parking in a well light area so we weren't worried about the area. We might just check it out again. Maybe go earlier, but the lack of space and tables really made me kinda sad. read more

This bar has such a cool speakeasy vibe, especially with the mixologists wearing pharmacist coats--it really adds to the experience. They make the drinks right in front of you, and the way they mix things up is honestly so fun to watch. I've been here several times, and every drink I've tried has been really good. The vibe is more chill than hype. People usually just stand around, sit, or lounge while they sip. The music isn't really for dancing, but it still keeps the atmosphere lively. There's both an indoor and outdoor area, each with its own bar. The outdoor bar is my favorite--those marble tabletops are gorgeous and make the whole space feel elevated. Overall, it's a fun, unique spot with consistently great drinks. Definitely recommend stopping by if you love well-made, creative cocktails. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]They have indoor lounge type seating and a spacious patio, if you want to be outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There's a bar inside and outside. Wait time for drinks is reasonable. Beautiful, complex little drinks! Parked on the street! Worth the visit if you're on the east side, Chinatown or dtla, visiting from out of town or just looking for a nice atmosphere! read more

I had dinner at majordomo then walked through a gorgeous courtyard to this slightly hidden gem! Immediately upon entry I was enchanted. So cute and plenty of space at 8 pm on a Saturday night. I got the harvest, and my boyfriend got a Roma. I definitely preferred mine - it was lightly sweet and refreshing. Roma was good but very strong. Definitely more of a mezcal/espresso martini vibes. The bartender was more than happy to answer any questions, which I really appreciated since it was my first time. I couldn't believe they had a drink with malört, so if you're from Chicago and feeling nostalgic........ Overall, yes, the drinks are on the higher end, but also pretty standard craft cocktail pricing in Los Angeles. We were also able to grab seats without a reservation because it was so early, but as we were leaving ~9, people were starting to arrive for their tables. I think this review is more like a 3.5. Came to Apotheke for a nightcap after leaving a work holiday party early. It was easy enough to make a reservation in advance, but not sure if it was necessary- it was pretty empty when we got there at 9:30pm on a Friday night. Needless to say, I liked how it wasn't crowded, and the bar itself is beautiful. The inside area is small, but leads to a beautiful enclosed patio area which is where we sat- although it was cold, it was comfortable because there were heaters. The reason for the 3.5 stars is because the drinks are just ok. I felt that the cocktails weren't as good as they could've been- they were overly sweet and didn't have the craft cocktail special-ness speakeasy bars usually have. They looked pretty, but that was it. Was pretty disappointed. They were pricey too (normal pricey) but that could've been overlooked if they tasted good! read more

This place is such a gem I almost don't want to write this review and blow its cover--but honestly, it deserves the love. Tucked away in an unassuming location (which low-key feels like their own way of gatekeeping), Apothéke is the kind of unexpected find that feels like a reward for wandering a little off the beaten path. we loved everything about this hidden gem, from the drinks to the ambience & especially the service. i didn't catch our bartender's name but he seemed very informative and hospitable! i missed the crazy set-a-drink on fire presentation my bf told me about during a bathroom run, but i'm sure it looked crazy. drinks were so strong i couldn't handle more than 1 & a half. normally, you wouldn't assume such a great bar like this to be in this area of chinatown but it's a great gatekeeping spot. read more

So I stumbled upon this lowkey spot on one of these apps lol Most definitely worth the time to visit for yourself. If you're looking for something lowkey, ducked off and out the way; this is a spot fasho fasho. Great atmosphere. Vibes on point. Good crowd of people. 2 bars; one inside when you walk in and another outside. A lot of seating areas. The service was really awesome. I forget her name lol but she was real down to earth and sweet. Made sure we had a great night out and got our money's worth lol. Our drinks were $18 each and we had 2 each. And these ain't cho ordinary cocktails. That's why yall gotta slide down here and see what's da deal lol Left her a $10 cash tip. No food but you can grab some from the restaurant near by. There's actually 2. I can't believe I have never been there! What a lovely gem of a place "hidden" by the bridge in DTLA. And there's a parking lot nearby. Yes the drinks are pricey and there's no food available, YET there's such a chill, pretty vibe that feels like an oasis to enjoy and escape to for a proper cocktail. We got there early on. Thursday. Wow, just wow! Apothéke is a hidden gem of a cocktail lounge. Heard about it years ago and finally went to it after the severe rains in Los Angeles. Walking up the ramp (yes this place is handicap friendly) we were greeted be a cool door guy. Inside you are transported to an amazingly dimly lit lounge with comfy plush chairs, couches and booths. I there to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was so much fun. There was a dj (DirtieB) spinning chill lounge tunes. The bar looked like a giant glowing crystal. The drink menu was very detailed and had great mixtures. A little on the pricey side. Some drinks had a sprig of rosemary which was lit on fire. It smelled great! My gin and tonic was delightfully crafted and the bartender muddled my lime. I loved that! There an outdoor section as well. The business hours are limited so I have not got a reply from them yet. Edit: the manager contacted me within hours and refunded the extra charge. After checking out their website, it turns out their original location was in New York! I immediately noticed the similarities inside - the wall of vials and liquor behind the bar and bartenders in white coats. It's a much large venue in LA than in NY. There is a nice outdoor patio with a water station, which is so appreciated. There's another bar outside if the inside one is too crowded. Another plus is they have their own parking lot, which has plenty of spots!! There is a bouncer who checks ID outside. The bathroom is just before the outdoor entrance. The menu is nicely broken down by category. Each drink def has an overwhelmingly long list of ingredients. There is no price list, but according to my bill, the drinks were $20-25ish. There is an automatic 20% gratuity if your bill is over $100. If you have a large group, I highly recommend making reservations. They charge like a thousand dollars for 20+ people. First time coming to this bar and I was not disappointed overall. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We did come around 10/11pm on a random Wednesday, so it was pretty dead but the interior and exterior patio of this spot are beautiful and amazing for photo ops if that's your kind of thing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered two of their specialty cocktails, and I loved that they craft such unique drinks, which you don't always see often. The service was good. I'm still shocked and perplexed about the hyper rude treatment we received by all three behind the bar on a Friday night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's best to avoid this place unless you come to support a DJ.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I believe the gentleman in the white coat is the manager..pls check your employees and check yourself when you speak to a patron who understands and respects the dynamics of a busy night. I've been here a few times for a date night with my husband. We always make a reservation to make sure we have a table. The door and bar staff are always friendly. I love the prohibition era vibe with the trains passing by. The drinks here are my favorite because they make cocktails I could never recreate at home. I wish they had small snacks to enjoy with beverages but overall for a drinks bar it's a wonderful hidden gem. read more

A friend of mine introduced me to this hidden gem, I was skeptical at first bc of the location and almost nothing around the area yet it was super pleasant and nice to spend part of the night there. I tried the non alcoholic luafakanaa drink. It was extremely refreshing and creamy, I thoroughly enjoyed it, it tasted very much like a pina colada. The cost was definitely up there, $20 for a drink - even with no alcohol. Came here between 8:30pm - 9pm and it was pretty empty inside but the decor is pretty cool. The outdoor patio is very relaxing and there was enough seating. A DJ started to setup outside around 9pm. read more

We decided to get a drink to celebrate Father's Day, only to strike out at the first two bars we tried--I guess a lot of places are closed at 9:30 on a Sunday. This is how we ended up at Thunderbolt, a buzzy bar in Echo Park, just far enough away that we'd never made our way over. I loved it immediately. Thunderbolt has the friendly, comfortable atmosphere of a neighborhood bar and the hip aesthetic and high-level cocktails of a millennial boozer destination. (Not that young people can't or shouldn't hang out here, but it seems especially geared toward people like us, who drank at Walker Inn a decade ago.) We ended up sitting next to a guy who regularly drives up from Palos Verdes. I guess the place gets pretty busy, but it was ideal on a Sunday night. Happening but not crowded, with just enough space at the bar for us to grab two seats together. The bartender was great, super helpful and welcoming. He also made excellent drinks. Thunderbolt is one of those bars with an encyclopedic illustrated book for a menu. Not a long menu, just a detailed one, with a lot of information available about each drink. We got a Liquid Picnic and a Barcelonnette--just one round to close out the weekend. Both were delicious. The Liquid Picnic was a smooth, savory gin martini made with London dry gin, tomato, citron, vermouth, rosemary, and black pepper. I learned from the book that it used clarified tomato water. (There was also further reading about the clarification process.) The Barcelonnette was a mezcal sour with Suze, passionfruit, and lime, the foam made without egg white through some geeky mixologist process. Thunderbolt is not our neighborhood bar, but we plan to go back when we can to check out the rest of the menu. It's a wonderful place, well worth a jaunt on the freeway.

If you subscribe to OpenTable notifications, reservations are released gradually, and with a little patience it's pretty manageable to snag one. Walking in, I expected absolute chaos because of all the hype, but the restaurant wasn't overwhelmingly busy. There were actually quite a few empty tables waiting for later reservations. I understand that's how reservations work, but it did make me wonder if some of the "impossible to book" reputation is a bit overblown. The space itself is beautiful. The live wood-fired grill in the center of the dining room is definitely the highlight, and I loved the communal tables that create a warm, lively atmosphere. The warm cornbread with cultured butter was easily the best thing we ordered and an absolute must. It arrived piping hot, incredibly fluffy, with just the right amount of sweetness, and paired perfectly with the rich, creamy butter. The baby albacore was outstanding--fresh, buttery, and perfectly seasoned. It practically melted in my mouth. The beef and eggplant stew, served with fresh tortillas, was another winner: rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. The only dish that didn't really land for me was the pork chop. The cut wasn't my favorite and, despite being cooked well, it tasted surprisingly underseasoned. The mashed potatoes, however, were silky, buttery, and honestly the best part of that plate. Dessert was enjoyable, especially the warm skillet cake with vanilla ice cream, but like much of the meal, it was very good rather than unforgettable. One thing that did catch me off guard was the automatic 4% surcharge added to the bill. It's disclosed, but it's still something to be aware of before dining. Overall, Dunsmoor is absolutely a five-star restaurant. The ingredients are top quality, the execution is thoughtful, the service is polished, and the atmosphere is unique. I just don't personally understand the level of hype surrounding it. I'm glad I finally experienced it, but it's not the kind of place where I'll be watching for the next reservation release. If friends wanted to go, I'd happily join them, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to book another reservation myself.

Apothecary. Or how ever it's pronounced - is one of those places that I wish I would have read the Yelp reviews for before I went. At first I thought it was me but now that I'm Here on Yelp - I see it's just normal for them to sell weak drinks for $19. Have to wait way too long while bartenders cuddle with each other in group therapy sessions. If "we hate our customers ,,,we are just in it for the money" was an establishment this would be it. Sure, it's a cool location with an outside back yard vibe but there are literally dozens of these types of locations that understand how not to rack up bad reviews. Plus the drinks come with too much cinnamon. It's okay to be different but adding cinnamon, cloves and weeds from the nearby garden doesn't make you a mixologist. There's actually an art to making specialty cocktails - and fellows - this ain't it. read more

I had a terrible experience at this bar. Not only did they open late, but their drinks were mediocre and tasted way too citrusy. Additionally, the bartenders strictly follow the menu and refuse to make off-menu items. The rude and inattentive waitress (Caucasian with pixie cut) told us that water is only served at the bar, despite walking around with a water pitcher and serving water to other tables. She even brought glasses of water to other tables but not to ours. To top it all off, the bar automatically charged a 20% gratuity even though the service was not deserving of it. And to make matters worse, there are no prices on the menu, leaving customers in the dark about how much they will be charged for their subpar experience. I would never recommend this bar to anyone and would strongly advise against wasting your time and money here. read more

Apotheke is a really great looking place with a unique vibe. The atmosphere is nice, the music is good, and the drinks are creative and different in a good way. The lounge area and outdoor patio are both really nice, especially for a date or a relaxed night out. The only downside for us was that we came to celebrate a friend's birthday and they did not allow us to bring in a cake or do a quick happy birthday moment. I understand the no outside food policy, but it did take away from the celebration since they don't offer any birthday options or alternatives either. Because of that, I probably wouldn't recommend it for larger birthday gatherings, but for a casual night out or date spot it's definitely a cool and unique place to go. read more
