I've been to this place twice this week and it's absolutely incredible. It's the kind of place that makes Los Angeles feel like a better city to live in. I know that sounds a little dramatic, but it just feels like a piece of... not LA, in LA. The vibe in there is how I wish so many places were. It's also extremely dimly lit, which I love so much. I can't stand overly bright bars, and this place is at the PERFECT level of that in my opinion. Also the fact that they are keeping bluegrass alive in Los Angeles is incredible. I believe it's every Tuesday night? Check their Instagram to confirm (which by the way they are very active on for their event nights and stuff) which is awesome. have to add another bad review about the male bartender, who a different reviewer called "aggressive and hostile." this was a few months ago: i was with one other woman, who was dd'ing. i ordered a drink and got her a soda water and closed out. this was with a woman who was a great and efficient bartender. i ultimately decide to get another drink before heading out, but the woman bartender had a backlog because the guy was busy doing nothing. after spending a few minutes getting his attention, he was surly in taking the same order as before (and it's not a complicated drink, vodka soda) and then gave me a bill that charged for the soda water! i've never seen that before, especially for a dd, and noted to the bartender that we had not been charged for the soda water the previous time. his verbatim response: "well it sounds like you got lucky, then." i also noted the soda water was for a dd, and that they're usually not charged. his response: "when have you ever heard of a business giving things away for free?" at this point he said he couldn't deal with it and passed us off to the other bartender, who apologized immediately and took the charge off. she must deal with this guy's nonsense a lot. capping it all off: the guy evil eyed us the rest of the time inside, and when we left a few minutes later, he followed us outside with a bag of half-full trash. i like to give people the benefit of the doubt but i have no doubt his intent was to intimidate us. he had his eyes on us all the way to the car. creepy! way to ruin what had been a nice time at a pretty bar. read more

I love a good themed bar, and Bigfoot Lodge did not disappoint. I loved the ambience, decor, and drink menu here. Although I didn't try one of their cocktails, the "Batsquatch" Hazy IPA was very enjoyable. We came right when they opened at 5pm on a Saturday, so we were the first ones in, which presented a nice opportunity to explore the bar and sit wherever we wanted. After a round, we were on our way. While our stay was short, it was certainly memorable. I'd like to come back at some point. Oh, did I mention they have great happy hour specials? Definitely check this place out! read more

Classic. Eastside. Hangout. Been coming here over the years and I still love the kitsch meets full bar and casual LA vibe. Happy hour happens daily from 5-8pm and the pours aren't dainty like some of our more hipster bars so you can enjoy a real drink. Also, the bartenders are attentive. For those who like a good brew (and two-fisted specials) you can get a beer + shot combo. Plus, they have Boddingtons and there's also Guinness on draught for some of us who like to have a meal in a glass. My favorite little dive bar. Feels like you're stepping into a cabin-style bar in Big Bear. Love the ambiance. Drinks are okay. I usually stick with beer, which is a safe bet. If you get a mixed drink, I'd stick with the basics. My companions loved their Whiskey Sours, but hated their Paloma. I've been here multiple times, on nights when it's packed with a DJ spinning, and on cozy rainy nights when they have a smaller crowd, and both are great. I've also been here for Blue Grass night, when they have a live band playing, which was a lot of fun. Definitely better suited for a small group gathering, or catching up with a friend one-on-one - vs a spot to meet new people. First stop of our night yesterday was The Bigfoot Lodge which was all of our first times. We had a small group ordering drinks. Bartender was aggressive and hostile from the moment we got to the bar counter. He wasn't happy about the 3 old fashion order I guess? We tried to crack a joke to ease up the mood. Honestly, I don't know why I keep giving the Bigfoot another chance. We used to go quite a lot pre-Covid so I wanted to check it out again. Went on a Friday night with a friend who had never been; so she loved the decor, but I am officially done. Bartender spent more time talking to the regulars at the bar than the growing line of people wanting drinks. And this wasn't a busy bar when we first got there, either. But she couldn't have cared less. Drink prices are average. Not very strong when they're on the "Happy Hour" price but regular strength when you're paying full price. The live music that came on later wasn't bad, but we didn't stick around for long after because we wanted to keep drinking and I was just done being ignored by the female bartender. The decor is absolutely cool and an iconic spot in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, it's not a very friendly place to get drinks. You have a lot more options in LA with fun decor and much better service for the regular prices. read more

A classic Eastside bar for hispters and cocktail drinkers alike. I've been coming here for years because of the cabin vibe and the whiskey drinks. They have a great daily happy hour, and if you go early, it's super easy to snag a place to sit. I also noticed that this must be the cleanest bar I had been to in a long time. Everything is well taken care of and not sticky or dirty. We had two old fashioned off of the happy hour menu and they were perfect. The cherries in the drinks somehow were the best I've had. The bartender was efficient but not very friendly. When you come, grab a seat. When we were there, they had plenty of reserved tables which left public seating scarce. We came around 8pm on a Saturday and it was really chill, but I've been here even on weeknights at later times and it gets busy! The Ambiance, Location, and Decor are really the only reason to go back here. Bartenders are lazy and the lady working weekend evenings has a dismissive attitude. Bartenders Have a sort of I Don't Care attitude and will take forever to take orders and pour drinks. Plenty of free street parking available. Getting drinks at the Bigfoot Lodge is definitely a memorable experience. The drinks are strong and good, and the cabin-in-the-NorCal-woods décor is a fun change of pace from L.A.'s usual industrial- or boho-themed bars. There are tons of photo-ops, including a giant stone fireplace, a "Sasquatch National Forest" sign behind a booth, and a set of Bigfoot "prints" in front of the steps to the entrance. We came right at their opening time on a weekday, and there were already a few other people there. It was Happy Hour (5-8pm daily), but we wanted themed drinks, so we ordered the Roasted Marshmallow and the Sasquatch. The former had rum, creamy tequila, and of course, a barside-scorched marshmallow. It was a tasty drink and a perfect accessory for a summer camp-reminiscent photo, but it went down quickly and my boyfriend ordered one more "sipper" drink before we left, the Bigfoot Old Fashioned. My Sasquatch drink was like a spiked lemonade, bourbon and ginger beer and lemon juice, served in a handled mason jar. It was refreshing, but with enough kick that I was satisfied to sip on it for our whole stay. Bigfoot is a little out of the way in Atwater Village, but it's the perfect spot at which to forget about the bustle of L.A. and pretend peaceful Lake Tahoe is just beyond the log-sided walls. read more

I've been here a few times. The drinks aren't great & the staff isn't the nicest. I only got 2 drinks, which amounted to $18 plus tip BUT was also charged an entirely different transaction of $20, despite not keeping a tab open or anything. I find this to be very shady on the bar's end and don't plan on coming back, and unfortunately if I do, I'd stick to cash only. Be aware! It was like walking into a different world or even a different region because it really felt like we were at a cabin in the woods. The vibes were easygoing within this dark lodge and it was pretty cool to see that there was a TV beside a fireplace. I got a Dark and Stormy, which had dark rum, ginger, and lime. This was a nice and refreshing drink that was great to sip on throughout a conversation. Love a good dive. Inside is just the right amount of dark and moody, divey, and kitschy. Great happy hour from 5-8 daily. $6 drafts and select cocktails. There's plenty of seating, tables, booths, and a long bar. Also 2 small smoking patios. I came in for some midweek/hump day drinks to a super chill and friendly crowd. No food but Giamela's is right down the street and usually open til 9. Service was good, friendly staff in masks who were diligent about checking vax cards, which I definitely appreciate in this current climate. And almost all of that is Erin the bartender's doing. She provides wonderful customer service, is lovely to talk to, and checks with us to make sure our drinks taste good. It feels like our neighborhood bar when we go because Erin makes it feel welcoming, charming, and comfortable. Seldom do I come across a bar in Los Angeles that checks all those boxes, including an unbeatable happy hour. I'm always in Atwater. I'll go to the Village Bakery for breakfast, Hugos or Tacos Villa Corona for lunch, Crispy Crust or Indochien Vien for dinner, etc. But if I want a place to just chill out and have a good drink, I'll go to Bigfoot. Bigfoot lodge has yet to make me leave unimpressed. I usually visit during happy hour and some workhorse (Erin?) is laying down the law and making possibly 15 perfect cocktails at one time. If the immaculate lighting (I've checked the lightbulbs in the candelabras) wasn't so vintage and perfect, I would believe I was in 2025 but no, this place is bringing me back to the good times. I've seen patrons brought to tears with joy on these woody evenings. I keep coming back so much that I dressed up as the Bigfoot lodge for Halloween.
