I was disappointed with the service. We dropped off our truck for an oil change a couple of months ago. Out of nowhere the truck started pouring out oil. Luckily it was close to home. The vehicle was not drivable. We towed it to another dealership (it was over the weekend). They ended up telling us that they left the old oil filter gasket on and then put the new on on top. So eventually it popped off and the oil splattered all over the motor and the truck. I really do get that people make mistakes, and things happened but, it was eye opening when we notified them about it. We didn't even get an apology. I would have at least expected that, and maybe reimbursement since we got it fixed somewhere else. Maybe "next service is on us." Anyway, we can expect all we want. At the end of the day, not everyone does the right thing. Not good business. It's not like the service is cheap. Learned our lesson. read more

My sister and I have had a bad experiences here. Before showing up to my appointment, I had told them over the phone that my truck will shake when I will drive it. I told them if it was fine to bring it to this location since I had taken it to the location in Seaside two weeks ago to check what causes the shaking, but it got worse so I wanted to come to Salinas since this is where the truck was purchased, which they told me it was fine. Once I showed up, they were asking me about a copy of the last service, to take it back to Seaside after driving from there, and they couldn't do nothing about it. This is something they could of told me over the phone after explaining to them the whole situation over the phone. For my sister's experience, she took her vehicle here for an oil change. We always check the cars that nothing of value is in there before drop off. After she picked up her car, she found a: lighter, pokeman card, and a Domino's Pizza napkin. She went back to complain, and they were denying that its impossible for those items to get there. Well no shit! How did it get there?! Then my sister said the employees kept looking at her as she was complaining and kept smiling like if they were making fun of her and knowing they did it. We've been looking for a new GMC truck for months. We had a hard time finding the truck we wanted in the South Bay. So, we went outside the state (NV, ID and UT) and though they had a larger selection, they were very unwilling to negotiate. Some had options on their vehicles we didn't want but we were told that it was not optional to negotiate the price with those options (like protective seat treatment to the tune of $995). Goldstar Buick GMC had none of those extras or additional dealer fees! In the end, we had nothing but a pleasant experience dealing with Richie (sales) and Saul (finance). We purchased a brand new 2017 GMC Acadia Denali. During the sale process, every one was going out of their way trying to help us as expected. However, the problem came AFTER the sale was done which is what brings this review down from 5 Stars to just 1. We finished the process late at night and were told that the Detail Department was already closed so we were adviced to make an appointment to have this completed another day. Since the Sun Roof Screen was broken in our vehicle (was like that at purchase), we made an appointment to have both taken care of at once. When I took our vehicle in for the appointment, I noticed that the work order only mentioned the Sun Roof Screen and said nothing about the Detail. When I mentioned it to the Service Advisor, he said Gold Star doesn't detail cars and that the Sales Person shouldn't have said that unless he himself was going to pay for it. I then asked him for the name of the Sales Person who had assisted us to verify the information that had been given to us but he said that they don't keep records of who sells what car and that all they were going to do is what was in the Work Order. I argued that every dealer details a car before handing the keys to the Customer. He finally said said 'fine we will vacuum and wash it' with frustrated tone and rolling his eyes. He also told me that he would give me a call once the vehicle was done. When we made the initial appointment we were told it was going to be a 3hr job. However, I left my car there at 8:30am....then it was 1:30pm and I still hadn't heard back from him but I figured they had gotten backed up. I finally decided to call the myself at 4:30pm and was told by another Service Advisoe that the vehicle had been ready since noon. I picked up my vehicle to find it vacuumed, but not washed. Glue from all the stickers and Price Sheet were still all over the windows. I was just too tired of arguing my case with a Service Representative that clearly doesn't care for customers. Oh and he also had me there sitting for almost 2hrs waiting for the Shuttle Driver after I dropped off my vehicle. I saw a gentleman coming and going several times but I had no idea he was the driver. When I decided to ask him how much longer it was going to be, apparently he had 'forgotten' to tell the Shuttle Driver about me so the Driver didn't know I had been there waiting for him. Overall, a VERY dissatisfied experience. At least the Service Writter I dealt had NO Customer Service whatsoever. I felt like I was a bother to him the whole time. read more

Went to the dealership based on online listings. Was met by a salesman, Scott Cameron, who did a good job showing me the available SUVs that matched my budget and needs. The sales staff was helpful, not overly pushy and the buying process went as well as I cpuld have hoped. During the paperwork and finance process there was one glitch due to information from sales to finance group, but got fixed quickly. Overall, good customer service, fairly easy process, not pushy. I have mixed feelings about this Dealership, but in general the experience was very poor. Carlos in finance and Irwin in sales both lied and provided poor customer Service. Carlos assured me my credit inquiry would only get hit once but was actually hit 3 times on my initial visit and I am still fighting with the credit bureau to have removed. Then when I returned to sign my paperwork he mentioned he had to run it again and it would be a soft inquiry because I was already pre approved. NOPE, another hard inquiry. 4 hard inquiries total to purchase the exacts same single vehicle. My salesmen Irwin was a complete joke. Other than forgetting who I was later that week and calling me to try to sell me a vehicle (after I already bought one), he was joking and cussing on the phone to other employees while I was having a follow-up conversation with him, he proceeded to call me back again like I was a new prospect and didn't just buy a vehicle from him 3 days prior. I did have to wait for a new truck to arrive which was at no fault of the dealership, so this review has nothing to do with the time it took to receive a new vehicle. I am only giving this dealership 2 stars instead of one because all of the managers I dealt with were extremely pleasant and were very willing to keep me up to date while waiting on the vehicle. On December 24th my son took our 2017 GMC Terrain to GMC Gold Star Buick service department because the passenger right front tire was damaged. They said they'd order the tire and yes we understand how hectic things are around the holidays and we were willing to give them some leeway but 3 weeks later we had the same damaged tire on the car that we couldn't drive on the freeway. For those 3 weeks we called them every 3 days or so and we were constantly lied to saying they'd call us back and they never did. Friday January 7th I contacted them and twice that day they said would call us back with the status of the tire because they still didn't have it, we'll right before the close of business they called and said the tire would be in the next day (Saturday) at 10 a.m. but don't bring the car until noon and call before we come to be certain the tire was there. Okay 10 o'clock Saturday morning we called and the tire wasn't there but they did call us back and said the tire would be here at 1:30 p.m. and we could bring it in it'll only take us 1 hour well that was a lie and did I mention that Joel and I got into a heated conversation and he told me I didn't have to come back but when we purchased the car they were all over us on they're best behavior but that's a different department my point is I expect the say courteous service. Also Ralph the manager in the service department quoted the cost at $260 + change but when we got there Jose' said the cost was $275 of course I refused to pay that amount but I can't help wonder if Jose' was skimming off top. We'll Joel was right about one thing and that is that I don't have to come back and I don't think I will. They're service department is complete trash back in July Ralph or Robert promised us a free oil change in exchange for crappie service but in December they charged us because Ralph or Robert didn't notate the account and as I sat there waiting on the customer after customer was being apologized to for mistakes they constantly make I'm sure I could go on but I'll wrap this up by GMC Gold Star Buick service department is trash. read more

This is the worst business and group of people I have ever had the misfortune of having to interact with. I originally brought my truck in last November to have warranty work done on the transmission of my pickup, and I was immediately given the run-around. Gold Star REFUSED to replace the transmission that was making my truck essentially un-drivable, and instead said that they were going to order parts to rebuild it, and that they would call me when the parts came in, despite the fact that I had told them nearly a month prior that I would need a new transmission. I was forced to drive around in a truck with a bad transmission for over a month until parts came in. Once I dropped my truck off to have the actual work done, I got the runaround on a loaner vehicle as well. Once the dealership had had my truck for several weeks with no update, I called again. At this point, I was informed that my truck was still not ready and wouldn't be for "a while." I informed the dealership that I needed my truck back because I was moving to a new house, and that the lack of progress or communication is unacceptable, and that I would be needing an equivalent or larger truck immediately. They tried to fix this by giving me the smallest truck they could find in a 2WD version, which was an unacceptable solution. Eventually, I got my truck back, and it was hard shifting and missing gears from the day I got it back. I called Gold Star, and they said that they had a lot of vehicles in their service department, and they would call me so I could bring my truck back in once they had "some rack time available." They never called me back. Eventually, I brought the truck in anyway because it's dumping transmission fluid and ruining my driveway, and they told be that they don't guarantee any of their repairs. Gold Star failed at rebuilding my transmission after I specifically asked for a new one, and now they are refusing to fix their poor workmanship, despite the fact that their transmission was faulty the day I got my truck back. Boycott this dealership. They are scam artists and all of their used vehicles are lemons. You will have a horrible experience here because it is clear that no one here cares about the customers. If you're white and bilingual, you will hear the staff talk shit because they think you can't understand them. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Tell all of your friends to avoid this place. I trust these people less than cocktails with Bill Cosby. read more

This is the most dishonest dealership I have ever dealt with. First, when my wife went in with her sister because her sister was trying to sell her car there through their consignment program, they convinced my wife to try to trade in her car since we were looking for an SUV. The salesman Curtis asked what kind of car we owned and how much was owed on it. He then said that the rest owed on the car would be no problem and it would be covered. When we went in a couple of days after, they offered us $3, 000 less than what was owed. They will do anything to try to bait you to come in. Second came when Curtis tried to get us into an SUV without trade in instead and said he would keep us within the same payment amount we currently had. He gave us a call and said he worked something out that was extremely close to our current payment. I convinced him to just give me the monthly payment amount over the phone since they had already baited us to go in once already with lies. Sure enough, the payment was $125 over our current payment. I don't know why he thought that it was OK to say it was extremely close. Third, when we were in the office I explained to him my interest in seeing the Kia Sorrento as well. He then went off on how those are terrible cars and how Kia I'd a terrible brand. A true salesperson can sell their product without bad mouthing everybody else's. Also, after a lot of research, I saw that the Kia Sorrento is rated higher than the GMC Terrain in a lot of categories. We ended up purchasing a Mitsubishi Outlander at the Mitsubishi dealership because they were honest from the get go. Curtis and Gold Star Motors can learn a thing or two from Mitsubishi on how to treat their customers and how honesty goes a long way. I would not recommend this dealership to anybody. read more
