Entirely too expensive. As of 08/24/2026 service rate is $290 per hour!!! An oil change, topping off some fluids, adding air to tires, and making sure the floor mats are in place (LOL - Lexus always documents the heck out of these MINOR things) cost $1,122. That's insanity. This is the second time Lexus has grossly overcharged for a basic service and is unfortunate. Am starting to sour on the brand as a whole. I liked the video review of issues that is forwarded to customers so they can see what the vehicle maintenance technician found during the inspection prior or after our oil change. They had noted some fluid wetness along certain areas under the engine in the general vicinity of the front tires and attributed it to this and that with a recommendation for a replacement for a particular item. In the past I was told about certain died up rubber covered grease fitting joints in the general vicinity of the front tires that would eventually have to be replaced and I had mentioned a chemical spray that would rejuvenate the rubber. I was told that such a chemical does not exist. Two days prior to this oil change I sprayed a number of the rubber joints with a product called ATP AR-205 RE-SEAL which among other things restores worn or dried out rubber seals. When we went to pick up our vehicle the service employee who had been taking care of us was out to lunch as I was going to ask him if the wetness noted during the inspection seen on the video was this chemical I had sprayed two days ago or an actual leak. Another employee gave me a pen and note pad where I wrote down my name, number and the above product name with a short explanation and asked that the service employee call me back. I purchased a used vehicle. During the sales, negotiation & financing process, I inquired whether there was a GPS tracker on the vehicle. The salesperson, GM and finance person never indicated that any were installed. I wasn't provided with any consent forms to sign. I removed the tracker within 24 hours and returned it to them. They all seemed surprised, except for a tech that stated "Yeah, we install that on all our vehicles. Do you have the cables?" I later receive unsolicited email from ELO GPS congratulating my on the purchase (& activation) of the "World's most Sophisticated and Technologically Advanced Vehicle Recovery System" w/my personal info (phone & email). I have gone to this particular dealership 5 times with the intention of buying my dream car, not once was I ever approached, ask if I needed assistance, or even anyone to take the time of day to acknowledge my presence. I went this past Monday with the intention of test driving an SUV that I fell in love with and not once did anyone came up to me. There was a sales rep helping a couple find a car and neither them acknowledged my presence. Walked past the front office and saw three individuals at their desk without a care in the world. Disappointed in service! Practically new NX450h+ 12 V battery died; taken to dealer. Within about a week, failed again, needing a tow. They thought the battery was fine. Asked them to do a load test to test the battery. No idea if they bothered. They blamed it on my having the car running while learning car features (possible), then claimed I didn't use it "normally" and said I needed to take it out on the highway and drive in HV mode, rather than short trips on EV mode. Told I should get a trickle charger to charge the 12 V battery, despite car being new. Seeming disinterest in exploring why my battery had failed twice, no additional research done about how to charge the 12 V. For about a year I continued to drive in EV mode almost exclusively without problems, charging with level 2 charger daily. Then, when going on a camping trip (unable to charge daily), 12 v battery failed 3 times in 2 days. Not exactly Lexus Monterey per se, one roadside assistant refused to jump the car, insisting it would ruin the car (It had been jumped successfully previously.) left me stranded and needing to call for a tow. Each time it was jumped it seemed to have a charge, and I ran the car in "Ready mode" to additionally charge the battery. Still failed (Only opening and closing doors to load vehicle). Finally taken to Lexus Stevens Creek, who initially didn't detect a problem, but when using a load test, found that the battery was, in fact, defective. This problem could have been solved if Monterey had done a load test as requested. Also, at the time, people there, service and sales, didn't seem to REALLY know how to charge the 12 V. (Given incorrect advice: eg that it was the alternator (the car doesn't have an alternator). The agency usually did not have a loaner to provide, as suggested in the literature and warranty information. Would have to wait a day to get one (meaning no car for me to drive in the interim). No accommodations when I was stranded at a camp site, unable to get home. One time I was given a loaner with no explanation as to how the vehicle worked (very different from mine), and there were no manuals in the car. Sales staff (Skye) did not follow through on the promise "I'll be there for you" and to help with car features. If called, he'd say that it was a service issue and turn me back to service (who had referred me to Skye). One evening I called to report that I would be having my car towed in and requested a loaner be provided, and asked that a message be left for the service dept. The fellow said he couldn't do that, and I had to call in the morning. Knowing that sales was about 20 feet from the service department, I asked again--a few times--each time greeted by another excuse as to why he couldn't not. Finally he said he would, but didn't ask my name or info about my car. In sum, although some staff were pleasant, the overall feel was that I was a burden or inconvenience to them, it was my fault that the 12 V discharged, and it was too much to walk 20' with a note. I didn't feel I was getting very good treatment after having bought a rather expensive car from their dealership. read more

The work was good. However....we were in a bind schedule wise....and received a $4000 bill for a 60,000 service...there was nothing faulty with the car. Just needed the service. I have a very uneasy feeling that we were way overcharged for the work. This amount is not too far off 10% of the original cost of our 2015 RC 350. I will be validating this charge with other dealers. If the dealer can validate the charge compared to other Lexus dealers I'm happy to adjust my rating. read more

My service experience With Monterey Peninsula Lexus ("MPL") was not good and the communication was very poor. My trip to MPL for my 7:30 a.m. appointment took almost an hour. My service advisor asked if I had been given an estimate for the 30,000 service. I told him no. He handed me an estimate and I was shocked to see that it was $2,300. Had I known the price, I would have gone to a mechanic in my area. Since I had set aside the day, and was getting a loaner, I went forward with the service, with huge misgivings. In addition to the service, I asked Lexus to look into a squeak in the front passenger seat. This was never looked into. There were a number of items on the estimate listed for whatever reason as "postponed". So, not only was a paying an outlandish price, it did not appear all the suggested service items were going to be performed. Out of curiosity, researched the price of a 30,000-mile service with other Lexus dealerships. Generally, it cost just under $700. I asked the service advisor when the car would be done. He said it would take most of the day. I was not very happy about that due to traffic being so bad between my home and Seaside. Seeing my concern about timing, the service advisor said I did not need to return the loaner that day. I had a 7:30 a.m. tee time the following day and I informed him that I would not be able to return the loaner until late morning/early afternoon. He said that was okay. I had been concerned that MPL would want the loaner returned immediately but the advisor said no problem. The Loaner Rep handling loaners came over with an iPad for me to sign. Every time he clicked on the box for signature, it obscured the writing as to what I was signing for. Not good. As I was standing up to go to leave, the Loaner Rep informed me that if I brought the car in with fuel below the "mileage remaining reading", I would be charged $15 per mile. I was stunned. I returned the car with much more fuel than it went out with but I did not receive a $15 per mile credit for the overage. I never did receive a copy of the loaner agreement and told the Service Advisor of that when I picked up my vehicle. Oddly, after picking up my car and returning home, there was the Loaner Agreement (unexecuted) just sent in my email. Odder still is that the language in the contract about returning the car with less fuel than it went out with said the charge was $8.00 per gallon to refuel, not $15 per mile for each mile less than it went out with. It is worth noting that on the day of the scheduled service I never got any notices from my car that the hood was open or windows open. However, while I was out on the golf course the next day, I was receiving notices. It appears the work on my car was not performed on the day I had scheduled for service. Had plans changed (which they did) and I showed up, the car would not have been ready. I only golfed 9 holes and was ready to head to MPL before 10:00 that morning. Since I had been getting notices from my car about the hood being open, I decided to call to find out the status. My car was not ready and so I had to wait to get my car. They would call me, maybe another half hour or so -- I was not happy. When I did get a call that the car was ready, I was informed that my battery was not good and that it was going to be replaced under warranty. However, when I picked up the car, I was informed they simply charged the battery and it was holding a charge. The Rep informed me that my warranty was still good until August 23 in case something went wrong with the battery. It is June 19 and I had two months in case something went wrong. This is laughable. The squeak I asked to be looked at was not investigated. I had new front brakes and rotors and 4 new tires and yet the mechanic's video I was sent inspected these items. If I assume work on my car started at 7:30 a.m. that morning (a generous assumption) and was done by the time I received the mechanic's video at 11:00 a.m., MPL was paid approximately $628 an hour for work it supposedly performed. Oh, I forgot, I was given a "discount" when I picked up the car. I only owed approximately $2200. My husband and I have purchased a total of 5 Lexus vehicles. All but four of those vehicles were purchased at MPL. I cannot see me ever purchasing a vehicle from MPL again, nor will I have my vehicles serviced there again. read more

I had asked the service advisor to check into it and he did not do it. He mentioned that it can take too much time and may have to remove the door. Well, this car is still under warranty. I have purchased several cars from Lexus Monterey Peninsula and have found them to be exceptionally good. I believe that the standard by which a company should be judged is not the fact they make mistakes, because we all make mistakes. Rather, the true standard for a company is what they do to correct their mistakes. I have to give Lexus Monterey an A+++ for their handling of my most recent dealings with them. I was given incorrect information regarding the features of a new Lexus ES300h Premium that I purchased. I was led to believe that said car had a number of features that were important to me, but the car was missing some of those features. I called Tony, the manager of the dealership, and explained my problem to him. We arranged a meeting to see what we could do to remedy the problem. And, here is where the A+++ comes in. Tony voided my purchase of the Lexus ES 300h Premium, despite the fact that I had already put over 1,000 miles on the car. Then he sold me a new Lexus ES 300h Luxury, which had all of the features I wanted and which was about $7,000 more that the car I returned. The bottom line is that the difference I had to pay for the new car was under $100. If that was not an A+++ for correcting a problem, I don't know what is. After that experience, I doubt very much that I would even consider purchasing a car from anyplace other than Lexus Monterey Peninsula. Everyone in Sales is very congenial BUT unless you want to throw money out the window you'll likely be disturbed by their upselling. After I clearly told them explicitly what I wanted, we sat down together and the salesperson gave me a printout to sign that unexpectedly had more than $12 thousand extra in Dealer add-ons (several of which were not clearly identified) that I would "have to accept" if I wanted the new car. Although I like to support Local Business, rather than play this Sales Game I went elsewhere and purchased my New Lexus with what I wanted at more than $10 thousand less, and without added crap that I didn't want or need. Consider reading other Yelp reviews to get perspective. Another reviewer said this about Monterey Peninsula: "Lexus makes a great car, but do yourself a favor and buy it somewhere else. I feel this dealership uses deceptive sales practices." Oh, and just one example of deceitfulness: they said I would have to accept their installation of a $1,995 ELO GPS. "Why?!" I asked, saying I didn't want one. "In case your call is stolen" said the salesperson who failed to mention that the car already comes with a "Lexus Vehicle recovery location system" GPS, which makes the ELO a completely ridiculous unnecessary add-on.
