I had the opportunity to stay here after Thanksgiving dinner last week. My brother and I were traveling from the San Francisco Bay Area, and were in need of an inexpensive place to stay the night. After researching motels close to Pollock Pines, we came across this little gem. Yelp reviews were sketchy at best, but my brother insisted on giving it a try because he "has had good luck in the past with places like this." After much "negotiation" between us about staying here, I reluctantly agreed. With very full stomachs, we made our way to the hotel in mild snowfall. The snowflakes rushing at the windshield in the dark put me into a bit of a trance - I was beginning to forget about the "iffy" motel we were about to check into..... Upon our arrival, we found the office, and checked in without incident. Were were informed that our room (room number 3), was actually in a different location - apparently there are renovations going on with another hotel, and we were actually staying there. Interesting. With increasing uneasiness, we drove down the road a bit to find our room. After taking a wrong road, and nearly getting stuck in the mud, we finally found it! Indeed, it appeared to be another hotel that was in the process of being renovated - the green pool in the parking lot did nothing to reassure me, however! We eventually found our room and opened the door..... Amazingly, the room was clean, and appeared to be relatively new! I was in shock! The carpeting, bedding, and furniture were clean and spotless. Likewise, the fridge and microwave were new! The real shocker was in the bathroom - the shower was new as well, with a very nice faux rock interior - amazing! The only negative was the complex heater/air conditioning unit. We're were able to figure it out, but I can see other people having a hard time with it - see pics. We both had a wonderfully quiet night, and in the am, we agreed that we had truly found a gem of a place to stay. I was very impressed, and would definitely stay here again! Maybe we got lucky, or maybe my brother is a genius - either way, it was a fantastic stay in snowy Northern California.

One star Becuz you can't give 0 or - Expedia was how we got this horrible lodging. We paid $200 and was only there 3 hours. It's a crap hole. I wouldn't recommend driving past let alone renting a room. It's so disgusting. And they have no respect for themselves or their customers. They won't give us our money back. I have never been to such a disgusting lodge. I thought Expedia was a reputable company and they backed their businesses. Well. I would like my $200. Back. We weren't there any amount of time. We were so uncomfortable and disgusted. Expedia should check what they have on there app. You should stand behind your customers and do what's right!!!!!! I would like my $200 back. This is bad business. Shame on you.

The room I stayed in had holes in the walls, but worse than that, when I called to ask about my deposit, the owner began to literally scream at me over the phone, calling me an illiterate, stupid American, and unintelligent, and a variety of other degrading names, all because I could not to understand him through his heavy and thick Indian accent. It was the worst experience I had ever had and I can't believe how abusive this man was on the phone, to a customer, no less. He wouldn't stop screaming at me for asking about the deposit, and I started crying. Please do not give these horrible people your money. They are rude, have NO customer service, and are hateful and despicable people. No one should treat ANYONE that way, much less a customer.

I strongly suggest guest read the reviews before booking these rooms. The operators own both Mother Load Lodge and Gold Trail motor lodge. Both my father and I searched for hotels in Placerville via a simple Google search on the drive from SoCal. The prices ranged between 70-80 dollars. We booked a room via Expedia clearly indicating there were 2 guests. The charge was 88 dollars after taxes. We explicitly put in the notes that we request 2 separate beds. Upon arrival we were asked to stay at the Mother Load Lodge because they didn't have two beds available at Gold Trail. We drove next store to check in. The total charge to my card was $157.80. They increased the price to $107.80 PLUS charged another $50 dollars deposit. The women was EXTREMELY RUDE and completely unaccommodating. It was to late (10:30pm) to dispute the charge and find some where else to stay. I gave them a two because the rooms were clean.

The new wing on the right. You won't see this sign from the road rather you'll see a white horse.

The main building was gutted when we visited last year but there were 3 other buildings around it. We stayed at the newly remodeled rooms to the right of the main building. New, clean and comfy. Front desk persons were very nice and accomodating. We're definitely staying again for our yearly Apple Hill trek.

Hair on the pillow cases that did not belong to me

If I could give it zero, I would. Just checked out of this shit-hole not 3 hours after arriving. I was in town for one night Training for a new job and had the "pleasure" of booking here. It's just one night. It can't be that bad, right? WRONG. There was hair on the pillow cases (ALL of them) that did not belong to me. Upon inspection of the sheets, there was black residue smeared all over the inside. The shower was filthy and it made me itch just standing inside, and the questionable characters outside didn't make the place seem much better. I turned and booked it first chance I got. Save yourself a step and book somewhere else.

The check-in experience was exceptional; we were treated with genuine warmth, respect, and hospitality that went far beyond first-class service. Our room was elegant, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was another highlight. You could tell great care was taken with every detail--even the fruit was fresh, crisp, and beautifully presented. Nothing felt overlooked. What truly set our experience apart was the personal touch from the owners. At checkout, both owners took the time to talk with us and made us feel less like guests and more like family. We were genuinely impressed by the thought, care, and attention to detail that went into every part of the inn and the experience they created. They made our anniversary feel magical and memorable, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special milestone. If you're looking for one of the most romantic getaways to share with your significant other, I highly recommend booking a stay at Eden Vale Inn. That's like excuse our dust, but the problem was not related to dust except for maybe some nose dust that The Proprietor's are sniffing. my first complaint is that the electric vehicle charging is ridiculously expensive for level two. Unless you are on 10% or less battery at the time of arrival, it probably would not make sense financially to charge here. They charge $20 to charge overnight and that is simply outrageous. Drive down to the El Dorado County sheriffs office and you can charge for free on their clipper chargers. That's just about a mile south of this hotel. No, the next thing is ice: there's an ice machine on floor one, but it doesn't work and it's not labeled as such which immediately in still panic in me when I realized that my hotel room libations may have to be consumed room temperature. Horror! Next up: Jacuzzi: the Jets are incredibly weak such that I didn't even think they were on when I went over to the little knob that you have to power up to get anything at all. They do a pretty decent job of keeping the smoke at bay from people that smoke. I decided it was snack time so why not get a bite before resuming my drive.. I ordered some fish & chips, it was the decision between that or loco moco, their version of loco moco didn't sound too appealing.
