This place has my all-time favorite bagels. Even though I live in Seattle, my husband and I come back to see family every year for the holidays and the tradition is getting bagels from here the morning after Christmas day. This year it blew even our high expectations away because we got warm bagels, fresh out of Their oven. The bagels are so soft and puffy and if you let them cool a little bit, they will be a little bit crusty on the outside, but remains soft on the inside. They have the best flavors and texture. The is a great addition to the stores on the Blvd in W-R. The store is large and has plenty of seating. There are lots of options for cold drinks, coffee is self serve. I have been a loyal customer for many years now. I order on uber eats and for regular pick up and have really enjoy their food. HOWEVER, their management ownership and customer service need SEVERE HELP. One of their recent employees (who is a young boy i assumed a family member) has been getting my orders wrong for the past 4 months and I have never said anything because I really do enjoy the establishment and my food. Yesterday both mine and my husbands orders were completely incorrect so we called and informed management with our frustration. We were asked to come in the next day to receive a replacement. Today we went in to pick up our food and not only were both the orders completely wrong again... we received an attitude from the manager. There are bagel places on every corner in this area and many with better food but we stayed loyal because we like to support people we build relationships with. I think he said $12.78. Um, huh? What? Please repeat that as I've got a $20 outstretched in my hand...he repeats it and I said. For a bagel w/cream cheese and a small coffee??? IDK if he made an error in addition or if he charged me twice for cream cheese since I requested 1/2 and 1/2 or what, but no thank you. Cancelled the order and will not return. Again, the salads in the case looked old and unordered like they were there sitting for days. I don't normally do this, but turned around and went out of my way to Rutherford, I won't say where, but there I got an onion bagel, better than Goldbergs, where they put their own "mix ins" into the cream cheese. Where the scallion cream cheese and the vegetable cream cheese are incredibly FRESH and there are other choices like olive, jalapeño, blueberries, strawberry, all fresh. $4 for a bagel with cream cheese. We order from this place every morning and they never disappoint. The food is always so good and packed. I am in love with the vegetable cream cheese and the rest of my family is in love with there Taylor ham egg and cheese and bacon egg and cheese along with the egg whites. Today I tried the chicken salad sandwich on a whole wheat bagel and was blown away. I ate half of it so fast I couldn't stop myself to take a picture! My husband and I have been frequent customers sonce they opened and have enjoyed the bagels and breakfast options. Recently, however, the staff changes have resulted in a less than good experience. Lori, who took the time to learn the names of the regulars and was fast and efficent, no longer works there. She as an asset! There is a distinct language barrier as almost all of the staff speaks Spanish, and the new manager is less than welcoming and acts as though she is doing the customers a service to take their order. No smile or greeting?! With so many other options, I wonder if the owner and management realize that they are losing business. read more

I don't know how the girl at the front handles getting phone, doing 2 registers, Uber orders, coffee, deli and has a smile through it all. My experience at Goldberg's Bagels is a bit mixed. I've only been once, but I would like to go again and maybe update my review. It's a new spot that just opened up on Valley Blvd in Wood-Ridge so maybe they are still working on a few kinks. I went to Goldberg's early on a Monday morning around 7am and it was not crowded at all. I ordered the Chorizo Sausage, Egg Whites, and Cheese on a toasted whole wheat everything bagel, a coffee, and a French Toast bagel plain. The woman behind the counter rang up my order, took my money, and began to help the person behind me - totally fine. I walked over to the coffee station and realized there were no cups there. So I had to walk back up to the counter, wait in line again, and then ask her for a cup for my coffee. Again, fine. Whatever. I make my coffee and she calls out that my sandwich is ready. She hands it to me in a brown paper bag. Luckily I took a peek inside because the French Toast Bagel was not there. I got her attention again and asked for my French Toast Bagel. She asked if I had my receipt (I don't know if she was asking for proof or something). I told her she never gave me one. She wrapped up a French Toast bagel for me, handed it over, and walked away. Meh. So the customer service needs a little work. Maybe it was an off day? I'm willing to order from them again because the bagel sandwich was delicious. The chorizo sausage had a nice kick to it and the bagel was warm, fluffy, and perfect. The coffee was your typical deli coffee. The French Toast bagel was delicious too. I brought it home for later. I toasted it up with some butter and it really hit the spot. So overall, good food, questionable service. Will try again! read more

I wanted to try this place out since it is a pretty new establishment. The place is spacious and was quite busy. I ordered a chorizo sausage with egg and cheese on a roll and an everything bagel with cream cheese. The register lady gave me a total but when I presented my credit card, she pressed a button and gave me a slightly higher total. I asked her if there is a charge for using a credit card since I didn't see any sign and she said no. Well, when I was given my receipt, there was a "no cash charge fee" added. I left it alone but would've been totally cool with the fee had I known about it beforehand. Anyways, the chorizo sausage with egg and cheese was delicious. It has a nice spicy kick to it that a regular sausage is missing. The cream cheese bagel is a bit of a let down since the cream cheese is whipped. I know it is a preference thing, but I prefer the dense creamy texture over the light and airy that is whipped. The everything bagel did not have much of the onion or garlic taste but is still good nonetheless. Overall, I would still return since the chorizo sausage roll was really good so I might try their other hot breakfast sandwiches. read more

Tuna salad-gate! So today i decided to get a half pound of chicken salad and tuna salad. I was greeted by a very polite young man who asked me what I wanted. No problem right, wrong. He grabs the two containers and starts scooping the chicken salad then a Latino woman says something to him and he walks over to the register. He starts to ring me up but I never see him scoop the tuna (I noticed a container on the counter when I came in). So I asked him where did you get that tuna? He says over here pointing to the counter. I tell him "I want fresh tuna salad I don't know how long that's been sitting out". Then the Latino woman turns around and says "WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE, TUNA IS TUNA!" (While flaying her arms). I told her I don't want it! So she starts huffing and sucking her teeth in contempt and discuss. I told her "I DONT WANT IT! and don't yell at me! Who do you think you are!? It just got worse from there but not going to lie to you the tuna salad and chicken salad was SO GOOD it was almost worth the bad customer service (or maybe she was having a bad day). I've been going to the Goldberg in Hasbrouck Heights for years. Like since I was a kid. As is the case with most people in this small town. This one was closer so I was excited to only have to walk down the block instead of driving to the one across town. Do not go here. It's nice inside, with a modern eating area where you can get some work done. But the staff is miserable. Not only have they messed up my order multiple times and I gave them PLENTY of chances, one of the older men at the register always has such an attitude. If you don't like your job, get a new job. I've been in customer service for years. The food industry these days is gruesome, I get it. People suck. But it is important to treat every customer as a NEW customer that YOU WANT TO RETURN. WITHOUT CUSTOMERS YOU HAVE NO JOB PERIOD. They need to learn better steps of service and TRAIN their staff better. It sucks because the food quality is pretty good maybe even better than the one in Heights. But due to the customer service, I'd rather waste the gas and drive. read more

Two of the items on the clearly neatly written list were not available so I spoke to bagel store person as to what I wanted as substitute and order was completely messed up . Their bagels are too airy but it's close to my house so we go there for convenience. Today I wanted to grab something on the way to work so I ordered Pick up via the Seamless app and never got notified if it was ready. When I called the restaurant to see if it was ready the employee had no idea that they accepted orders from Seamless. Beware. Plus in the store they charge more for a credit or debit card then cash. Have been here many times but the customer service is awful. Some employees who work the register are unfriendly. Today we ordered two coffees and two bagels. One bagel was prepared with no butter. When I asked the employee about the unbuttered bagel he rudely answered that the bagel was ordered with no butter . He said he asked twice at the register when ordering about the butter (so apparently he is right?) not sure how that can be considering we were wearing masks and he insists he had heard correctly. With that said he was not apologetic nor willing to offer another solution even if he WAS right, we are now asking for butter, furthermore the other "buttered bagel" was barely buttered and dry as well. No such thing as the customer is always right I suppose. Also the past few times the coffee is watery and tasteless and overall the place is a little pricey.
