French dip
Laura M.

Service at the bar with Sean is always exceptional. He takes care of the bar and the tables in the room as well, no easy task. The food is always exceptional. It's not just your ordinary Irish Pub food, the chef brings it to a different level. My kids had the French onion soup, the base/broth was spot on. The Mac and cheese was delicious, although we prefer our pasta a bit more cooked, it was al dente and next time we will ask. Our sandwiches were delicious as were the short rib entree. The only big disappointment was the fish and chips. The one thing we always look to have and my son was not happy with the fish. It was so soggy and when you order fish and chips you expect it to me crunchy and fresh and it was not. Maybe a bad day for the chef, but not good at all. Other wise all was good. We will be back. They are great people and have great food. This particular dish was just not very tasty.

Forbidden rice Mahi Mahi

Biddy O'Malley's never disappoints! The French onion soup is OUTSTANDING--I swear I think about that soup daily. So rich, flavorful, and that cheese on top was perfectly melted and bubbly. Honestly, everything about it was amazing. We also had the artichoke dip--hot, cheesy, and full of flavor. For dinner, I had the Mahi Mahi with forbidden rice and it was delicious. We also tried another fish dish with risotto (can't remember the name) but it was just as great. Service was super attentive, and I've been here before just for the bar area, but the food keeps bringing me back. Definitely a go-to spot!

After about five years, I stopped in for dinner again and found it to be an improved experience. The restaurant has a dark, moody decor, but on a Sunday evening, sitting by the indoor fireplace made for a cozy atmosphere. It was busy but still comfortable. We had sandwiches--both were tasty. The menu is limited but offers some solid options. While it didn't blow me away, it wasn't bad. Service was attentive and reliable, rounding out a decent dining experience.

Great place to have a hearty meal and drink. Brought our 4.5 year old son and he loved it too. Some of the best chili I've ever had, and burger and steaks are cooked perfect. Cozy atmosphere without being stuffy. Excellent service, they got everything perfect without taking notes, and even split our chili between 2 bowls without prompting, after we mentioned we would share. Will definitely come again!

I love everything about this place! It's an elevated Irish gastropub with proper pints. My dad loves it and he's from Ireland so he's very particular on his Irish places lol They also let u combo the flavors for the wings which is nice bc I can never tell what flavor I want

Great food and atmosphere! Amazing staff, always great to come back! Weekly specials are always delicious and you can't go wrong with any item on the menu.

Biddy O'Malley's in Northvale, NJ. Irish Bistro and Bar serving some amazing classic Irish gastropub fare in NJ! The food was so good and comforting. I love that most of the ingredients are locally sourced! This is definitely not your standard Irish Pub-the food, drinks and service are all elevated. The ambiance is amazing! Beat and Goat Cheese Salas with Salmon is great

Been to this establishment for lunch about a dozen times for work discussions. Having a hard time deciding on 4 or 5 stars. Food (4.5) Service (4.6) Ambiance (4.5) I always enjoy anything I order. Not on any diet but for some reason I often order and love the Beet and Goat Cheese salad and often get it with Salmon on top. Nuts, seeds, and other goodies prepared just right. The salmon is huge so I sometimes take some home. Burgers and chicken cutlet sandwiches are also great. Their house fries are superb btw, a weakness. Their servers are exceptional, experienced and understand the right amount of attention during a business lunch. The ambiance is pub-like yet their dining room is very well set up with perfect booths for business discussions. Ok, just decided, you get a 5 from this tough grader!! Please keep up the great work!

It's been a while since I had enjoyed this establishment. I felt welcomed home by the classic and innovative dishes. The dining room is always so charming and adored by many. My server was the only reason it was not a 5 - I begged for water in between the Moscow mules and left parched. ( These are real and recent photos)

Scottish egg
Natalie T.

The fish and chips were so soft and crunchy at the same time, they did a good job cooking it. I haven't seen Scottish eggs on the menu in a while so I was happy to see they had them and boy they did not disappoint. The traditional lamb shepherd's pie was also delicious, it was a cozy meal. The only call out would be the chicken pot pie as the crust was over cooked and a bit tough to bite into. However, the flavors were delicious and we enjoyed the meal overall. This is a definite try again spot. The service was wonderful and the restaurant it self was inviting- a great experience overall!

This place is incredible. Believe me it was delicious! I have been coming here for years and was super excited to try the new summer menu. Get the short rib, rigatoni, and the French dip trust me!

Wisely recognized as America's oldest tavern with its stone facade, the Old '76 House, located on Main Street in Tappan, has been welcoming guests and was restored to its pristine condition by the Norden family. Step inside, and nearly every corner tells a story that served as a meeting place for local patriots during the American Revolutionary War. It also welcomed General George Washington for dining on occasion. He once received plans at the establishment that exposed Benedict Arnold as a traitor--prompting a dramatic reaction still talked about today. Upon entering without a reservation today for lunch, my partner and I were greeted by the host and got a cozy table by the fireplace with original Delft tiles in the Tap Room. The interior features rustic beamed ceilings, four fireplaces, vintage portraits, historical certificates and documents, as well as costumes and artifacts where patrons were able to walk around and marvel at them. The menu reflects the tavern's heritage, with dishes inspired by early American cuisine. We decided on the Thanksgiving Sandwich accompanied with fries and the Traditional American Meatloaf over Mashed Potatoes and Steamed Vegetables. For dessert, we shared Hannah's Apple Crunch with vanilla ice cream. But even more than the great and delicious food was the history, ambiance, and especially the way we were treated. Our server was Joe and checked on us often. The portion was healthy and the price comparable to the area's. If one has even a passing interest in American history, then it's a must to come here. Not just a meal, but an experience!

Clearly you're under a ticking clock (1.5 hr limit)and the wait staff is impatient, the menu is dense which is great because there's a lot of interesting and unique dishes. But they don't give you time to understand and decide. We had soft shell crab, was very good, fried zucchini blossoms were decent but needed salt, the meatballs were good but needed salt. Pizza was good. I had the porchetta which was good. The squid ink pasta was solid. Wine was great value at $60 a bottle for all Italian wine. We had the Chardonnay and it was the highlight of the meal. But it was hard to enjoy it with the vibe that we somehow were imposing. Honestly it was all male servers plus the owner and I think a woman's touch for hospitality would go a loooong way here to help this place be more convivial. The weirdest and off putting ambiance thing is that they were playing country music which did not vibe with the joint at all. We didn't stay for desert, and glad we didn't.

A huge kudos to the hostess up front, who navigated a pretty grumpy crowd with such grace. Understandably, it was a very busy day, and the restaurant was packed. The building itself is white with with a blue door and accents and the walkway from the entrance to the dining area is decorated with sculptures in recessed cubbies in the wall. The main dining room is spacious and inviting with a lush ceiling and touches of warm, golden furnishings. It was bustling on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Diners were seated indoors and outdoors. We didn't get a chance to see the outdoor space but on a hot and sunny day, my family was fine and comfortable in the shade indoors. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Once I was seated and waiting for the rest of my party, he advised the time for last orders to be placed. My party of 6 ordered almost every appetizer and several of the limited number of mains offered on the lunch menu. The appetizers came out as they were ready. The beet salad and lobster salad came out first and were refreshing. The saganaki and watermelon appetizer was an interesting pairing and surprisingly delightful. We ordered two of the grilled octopus as it's usually a favorite within my group when dining at a Greek or Mediterranean establishment. Unfortunately, the octopus came chopped in small pieces and was uninteresting. IMHO this dish is not worth the price or the calories. Of the set of 4 spreads/dips, all were tasty and went nicely with the accompanying pita bread. We ended up doubling on this. The crispy shrimp and calamari, eggplant and zucchini chips, and the Greek meatballs were satisfying and a hit with everyone. Despite the disappointment with the grilled octopus, overall the appetizers were much more impressive than the entrees. For our mains, we got 2 of the filet mignon with eggs, the sirloin burger, the Lountza sandwich, the chicken souvlaki, the crispy shrimp wrap, and the shrimp roll. If we had to rank these dishes, the chicken would top the list, followed by the sirloin burger, and the rest would be last. Consistency in preparation and flavor profiles of the dishes is lacking. For example, we requested the filets cooked medium, however one filet was medium in some parts, medium rare in others. Personally, I enjoy medium rare and ate those pieces. As for the other filet, it was medium rare and borderline rare and inedible for my party. We requested additional heat for the dish, which the kitchen accommodated, but the meat came back basically well done SMH. While the chicken and burger were juicy and appetizing, the other dishes, albeit topped with many ingredients, were bland. Perhaps the kitchen was overwhelmed, which resulted in receiving our entrees about two hours after placing the order and the poor, or at least decline in quality of, execution of our dishes. Considering the restaurant has been open almost two years, it is normal to expect experience in managing the weekend crowds. While we were advised about the hard stop on placing orders, it was a missed opportunity for our waiter to check if we wanted to add desserts to our meal. No warning or follow-up was made as the cutoff time was approaching. Normally, I would praise the experience and service, but the final straw was in the handling of leftovers and with the valet. We had several unfinished or untouched dishes we wanted packed to go. Upon checking the containers at home, not everything was packed. When waiting outside for our cars, one of our cars was already pulled up with the door open and ready to be driven away. Problem was, the car belonged to my sister, who was in the restroom at the time and had her ticket. Anyone could've driven her car away. Thankfully the valet cooperated and drove the car to the side and my sister retrieved it without incident. Overall, the experience was lengthy and off-putting. If you need a beautiful space with a good selection of small bites and have hours to spare, e.g. a special event, then this place is for you. If you are interested in a full meal, and have only 2-3 hours for a meal, this is not the place for you.
