Went for Mother's Day. Phenomenal food and great service. Would definitely come back.

It is a winding road to get to the restaurant, and once inside, you're transported to an elegant setting. The building itself is white with with a blue door and accents and the walkway from the entrance to the dining area is decorated with sculptures in recessed cubbies in the wall. The main dining room is spacious and inviting with a lush ceiling and touches of warm, golden furnishings. It was bustling on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Diners were seated indoors and outdoors. We didn't get a chance to see the outdoor space but on a hot and sunny day, my family was fine and comfortable in the shade indoors. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Once I was seated and waiting for the rest of my party, he advised the time for last orders to be placed. My party of 6 ordered almost every appetizer and several of the limited number of mains offered on the lunch menu. The appetizers came out as they were ready. The beet salad and lobster salad came out first and were refreshing. The saganaki and watermelon appetizer was an interesting pairing and surprisingly delightful. We ordered two of the grilled octopus as it's usually a favorite within my group when dining at a Greek or Mediterranean establishment. Unfortunately, the octopus came chopped in small pieces and was uninteresting. IMHO this dish is not worth the price or the calories. Of the set of 4 spreads/dips, all were tasty and went nicely with the accompanying pita bread. We ended up doubling on this. The crispy shrimp and calamari, eggplant and zucchini chips, and the Greek meatballs were satisfying and a hit with everyone. Despite the disappointment with the grilled octopus, overall the appetizers were much more impressive than the entrees. For our mains, we got 2 of the filet mignon with eggs, the sirloin burger, the Lountza sandwich, the chicken souvlaki, the crispy shrimp wrap, and the shrimp roll. If we had to rank these dishes, the chicken would top the list, followed by the sirloin burger, and the rest would be last. Consistency in preparation and flavor profiles of the dishes is lacking. For example, we requested the filets cooked medium, however one filet was medium in some parts, medium rare in others. Personally, I enjoy medium rare and ate those pieces. As for the other filet, it was medium rare and borderline rare and inedible for my party. We requested additional heat for the dish, which the kitchen accommodated, but the meat came back basically well done SMH. While the chicken and burger were juicy and appetizing, the other dishes, albeit topped with many ingredients, were bland. Perhaps the kitchen was overwhelmed, which resulted in receiving our entrees about two hours after placing the order and the poor, or at least decline in quality of, execution of our dishes. Considering the restaurant has been open almost two years, it is normal to expect experience in managing the weekend crowds. While we were advised about the hard stop on placing orders, it was a missed opportunity for our waiter to check if we wanted to add desserts to our meal. No warning or follow-up was made as the cutoff time was approaching. Normally, I would praise the experience and service, but the final straw was in the handling of leftovers and with the valet. We had several unfinished or untouched dishes we wanted packed to go. Upon checking the containers at home, not everything was packed. When waiting outside for our cars, one of our cars was already pulled up with the door open and ready to be driven away. Problem was, the car belonged to my sister, who was in the restroom at the time and had her ticket. Anyone could've driven her car away. Thankfully the valet cooperated and drove the car to the side and my sister retrieved it without incident. Overall, the experience was lengthy and off-putting. If you need a beautiful space with a good selection of small bites and have hours to spare, e.g. a special event, then this place is for you. If you are interested in a full meal, and have only 2-3 hours for a meal, this is not the place for you. read more

I've never left bad reviews about any restaurants online but I can't stop it this time as what I experienced the other night was the most unpleasant ever in my life. My friend reserved a table for a special occasion with a special request of riverside view seating. We arrived as a group of 5. Two more people were on the way and we were told that we had to wait at the bar until everybody showed up. I totally understand some restaurants require the whole party to arrive to be seated. Usually when a restaurant has a long wait list, it is really needed to make it all work. But it was not the case at all and at least, they should have let my friend know at the point of the reservation if it is their unique policy (I have to say it is unique if it is not to deal with a lot of guests waiting in line.) She would have gladly reserved a different time if she was informed it in advance. Anyway we were escorted to a table for 6 with another chair was just hastily squeezed in. I couldn't understand why a reserved table hadn't been set up by then, and how it could be a table for 6 plus additional chair. As the table was at a dark, narrow corner without any view, we gently asked if we could move to a table near the window. The space was huge with lots of empty tables new the window side which were not occupied all evening.l but our request was just ignored with an excuse of "reserved for another party" I was also very upset that the servers opened sparking water bottles without asking. Actually it happened before so I had to stop at the 4th bottle at that time, too. (All of the glasses were more than half full.) Opening a charged bottle of water WITHOUT ASKING has never been a formal restaurant norm. I've never seen a fine dining opening another bottled of charged water without asking. What I found later is that the restaurant charched $135 for $60 a bottle wine. What really pissed me off is the response of the restaurant. The owner responded to complaint reviews that serving sparkling water as bottles is standard in most restaurants do and Riverview seating couldn't be guaranteed even requested in advance, which was completely not the answers about what we brought up with. Instead of a sincere apology with refund the overcharged portion, the owner ended up with threatening me to go for a legal action blaming my review was not only fabricated but also defamatory. They definitely have their own standard to evaluate their customers if they should welcome them with warm hospitality or be very condescending. And it's highly possible to be mistreated in case you don't meet their welcoming guest criteria. Even this one star is to write the review. read more

The waiter & the staff was very unattentive Kept taking half full drinks to replace them with new ones just so we can add more drinks to our bill while we would leave the table to smoke or use the restroom. The food was at best just ok, some things had no flavor so I didn't even understand what I was eating. Zero Flavor, creativity or taste. The quality of food and taste at best should have been $100 a person not $250 a person. After telling them that its a bday and asking about dancing they still gave us a shitty table in what looked like a senior citizens vip area (We specifically called and booked ahead to make sure we got a good area) " they lied about dancing . They said dancing starts at 9:00pm THERE'S NO DANCING! Just vibe music which was actually great but dont call it dancing! I didnt understand why the waiter thought it was my bday when I tried (10 times) to sneak him the bday sign to add to the cake for the bday girl...he still brought out the cake to me...why would I want to surprise myself !! Wonderful birthday dinner for a dear friend! Impressive space, overlooking the Tappan Zee bridge! They just set up the outdoor areas for the Spring and Summer months so we sat in the section with gas heaters all around to maintain comfort in March's unpredictable weather. The ladies started with martinis, my buddy and I had their concoction of an Old Fashioned called "Two Faces of January". Really well made drink ! For starters we enjoyed the zucchini chips with tzatziki - a must! We also enjoyed a generous portion of grilled octopus. For dinner - their pasta dish has some nice spice to it and the shrimp are enormous! The special tonight - pan seared halibut with lobster risotto - was excellent! Dessert consisted of their Greek yogurt with sour cherries, honey and pistachios, and baklava. Everything was great! Service was very attentive and staff were all knowledgeable about the restaurant's menu. Definitely looking to return during the summer! Extremely disappointing from start to finish. Our birthday dinner for seven was mishandled with rude, dismissive service. Despite requesting a waterfront table more than a week in advance, we were seated in a dark corner while among a few, one waterfront table sat empty throughout the evening. We repeatedly asked to move and were told it was reserved, only to learn later that those reservation had been canceled. The cleanliness was unacceptable. Multiple plates and wine glasses arrived visibly stained, and some replacements were not clean either. To make matters worse, we later discovered that a bottle of wine that typically sells for around $60 was charged at $135. When concerns were raised, management showed no apology, no accountability, and no interest in making things right. After spending nearly $1,000, we expected hospitality, professionalism, and basic cleanliness. Instead, we received poor service, dirty tableware, and an indifferent response from management. Honestly ok... the place is mostly for vibes - very aesthetic and upscale. The interior and exterior feel like you're in Greece, the ambiance is very bougie to say the least. However, there isn't a lot of variety on the menu. I got the scallops and it was just ok I wouldn't get it again. The drink menu had more assortment and I enjoyed it more than the meal- same with my friend. In terms of service, our waiter was kind. I had made the reservation for 8:30 but they had said the kitchen was almost closed & didn't want to let me in initially as per the hostess but I guess her manager was more kind and let us in? If the kitchen is closed sooner than the restaurant that should be properly advertised prior to making the reservation! No biggie about that but I think this is def a date night place or a restaurant you'd bring someone you'd want to wow- based on looks alone. I booked a table for 7 for my birthday, requesting a scenic view twice during booking and confirmation.5 of us arrived and asked to be seated since we were hungry and ready to order immediately. The staff initially told us to wait at the bar because our full party wasn't there yet (one was on the way, and another was arriving at 7 PM). However, after they checked with the manager as requested, they did escort us to a table. We were crammed into a 6-person corner table with an extra chair squeezed in. When we noticed empty tables by the window and asked if we could move, the staff flatly refused, claiming those tables were fully booked.There were 3 empty window tables. Eventually, 2 were filled, but 1 remained completely vacant until we left. When I questioned this at checkout, the receptionist lied to my face, saying the tables were occupied. I told her, "I have eyes," and walked out. The front-of-house management is dishonest, unwelcoming, and treats certain guests with subtle discrimination. We saw our actual waiter twice. Once to take our order and once to give us a dessert menu. There are about 700 food and water runners and we had like 7 of them come bring our food and refill our waters. Unfortunately Because of that we kept getting different water. Sparkling, then topped off with still, then poured more sparkling, etc. it was a mess of diluted sparkling water and we got charged for like 3 bottles of sparkling we never actually ordered. It took about 45min to get our appetizers and then over an hour to get our meals. It was a 2.5hr dinner and it was not crowded. The food is nothing special. They boast being spectacular in regard to fresh seafood, but when I asked for more details about the origin of the oysters the waiter didn't know. Hamachi app was the best dish we had all night. Presentation of the food was average overall. It tasted fine, nothing worth more than 3 starts. Not a single dish was spectacular or worth coming back for or worth what we paid for. It wasn't bad, just wasn't great and wasn't worth the $300 bill. The bathrooms were disgusting! Messy, wet, sloppy, no toilet paper, unattended. For a place that had 638393 servers, they could assign at least ONE of them to check on the bathrooms hourly. They are oddly specific and strict on their dress code. Birthday dinner for a dear friend. Valet parking team is active and respectful. Good job managing the arrival and departure of the patrons. Welcoming greetings when we arrived. My wife and I were ushered to the bar area as we were some of the first to arrive from our party. We ordered the Sangria which was really good. Well done bar staff!!! Once the entire party arrived we were seated at a table on the outskirts of the restaurant overlooking the river and bridge. Stunning views, tastefully decorated restaurant and dutiful wait staff. Multiple appetizers for our party arrived at the table and were enjoyed by all. Crab cakes, calamari, zucchini, hummus and pita, Greek salad and oysters. For entrees, Salmon, Sea bass, Filet mignon, and others. Everyone seemed to enjoy their dishes. There was an issue with the Sea Bass which the restaurant staff addressed immediately. Wanted to love this place because the setting is honestly beautiful. Right on the water, really nice decor, great atmosphere visually. That's what brought us there in the first place. Unfortunately, the actual dining experience didn't come close to matching the location. The food was just bland across the board. Appetizers, entrees, dessert -- everything looked better than it tasted. And it wasn't just us. The tables around us were complaining too. The guy next to us literally sent his lamb chops back because they had "no flavor" and asked if the chef forgot the oregano and lemon. I heard the whole conversation because the tables are packed so tightly together you're basically dining with strangers. Definitely not the place for a quiet or intimate dinner. Our waiter was actually very good, but the overall vibe from some of the staff felt off. There was a table nearby with a group of younger girls, maybe college age, and from the second they sat down you could tell the older waiter assigned to them was annoyed. He immediately told them everyone had to order entrees, and seemed visibly irritated that they were drinking water instead of ordering the overpriced cocktails and wine. Honestly, it came across like he was more concerned about the tip he was going to get from that table than actually making them feel welcome. You could almost sense his frustration that a premium waterfront table for 8 was "wasted" on a group of young girlfriends instead of a big-spending party. I honestly felt bad for them. To top it all off, both my wife and I were sick the next day. She had fish, I had steak, and the only thing we shared was dessert. We were told no, yet multiple parties who arrived after us were seated in the exact area we requested. It felt dismissive and unfair. Trata on the River is one of those spots that grabs you the moment you walk in. The ambiance is romantic and cozy without feeling cramped . Spacious dining , warm fireplaces throughout, and those gorgeous seaside and bridge views that make the whole place feel like a getaway. Add in truly stellar, white-glove service and you're already off to a great start. We went with the prix fixe menu. It opened with the Trata spreads with pita, this included tzatziki, roasted eggplant, and a fava purée. The pita was fresh, warm, and full of flavor, easily one of the standout bites of the night. Next came the lamb and beef keftedes, Greek meatballs that were cooked well and really tasty. They were served with thick-cut baguette, but honestly the pita paired much better. The petite skirt steak was the only real miss for me, it needed more seasoning, and the chimichurri leaned sweet instead of herby. The roasted potatoes and spinach on the side were solid though. The organic chicken souvlaki was slightly overcooked, but the chopped salad and fries that came with it were excellent. Their Sunset in Santorini mocktail was a bit too sweet for my taste. Trata has a lot more on the menu, including a full raw bar, so next time I'll probably explore outside the prix fixe. Even with a few misses, the service, atmosphere, and many of the dishes absolutely make it a place I'll be returning to. read more

The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. It's definitely a loud, party-type atmosphere, so be prepared for that. We had a round of drinks at the bar first, with a friendly, professional, and helpful bartender. We were seated promptly even though the drink at the bar held us up a bit (maybe 30 minutes) for our reservation/seating time, which wasn't a problem but maybe on another night could have been, especially since we were a party of 8. The food and drinks are definitely pricey (over-priced), and while it seems to be fairly standard these days, it doesn't have to be liked, hence the 4-star rating instead of 5. read more

My wife and I went to Trava's last night with a good friend for her 65 birthday. We heard good things about it and it exceeded our expectations. This is in Piermont and it's usually hard to park here, bot no worries, they have valet parking. As you enter the foyer, you're greeted by a host, who's really on top of the whole seen, and he has 3 adorable helpers. I hadn't realized at that point how big this place was and to keep the tables turning isn't an easy task. When we made the reservation, we asked for a table by the water, and although they said they couldn't promise it. We got it. We were immediately greeted by our server, who asked about our water preference and brought us a drink/ wine menu. We ordered Grey goose with soda drinks and relaxed with the view and great company. We ordered 3 apps to share and 3 entrees. For apps we had Greek meatballs (forgot what there called) watermelon salad w feta creamed cheese, and the avacodo crabmeat salad. All good, no exceptionally large a portion, but never gave us or told us the pita was extra. I was disappointed with that. We ordered 2 lavraki and 1 snapper with Horta and lemon potato wedges. All very good. This was our first time here, so I wish our server told us the snapper was for 2, so we ended up with 4 serve rings of fish. By now we had our second round with dinner. He did mention the weight, but it was in grams, not in pounds For desert we had a chocolate cake with ice cream, and they brought out one of those sparklers and helped us sing HB. By the way we told them in advance and they had a happy bday note on the table. Clearly this place is so organized. They had a guy walking around with a iPad type thing gauging the speed of each table. First time and last time there- the manager Danny walked over to my date and told him not to kiss at the table that it's a family restaurant. It was our second date and he gave me a couple of kisses ( not a make out session); this while a table of folks next to us dressed highly inappropriately and grabbing the wait staff- I walked over to Danny and asked him why he would say such a thing and he proceeded to tell me it was a family restaurant- there were no kids around, and as a mother I know better. Then he literally scrolled his phone to show me their policy on behavior at the restaurant. I said I had a good mind to leave not pay the bill and never come back to which he replied - " I wouldn't do that if I were you.! We paid our check- tipped the waiter well and as I left asked the hostess for the owners names- she said they weren't there and scribbled the name Johnny on a piece of paper and handed me the restaurant business card. The sangria was tasteless, the steak overcooked and the overall experience like nothing I had ever experienced travelling the world. Trata on the River completely ruined what was supposed to be a nice Mother's Day brunch with my family. We arrived and requested an outdoor table, but were told none were available. Fine, no problem. We were seated inside and then immediately told by our server that we couldn't use our portable clamp-on high chair because it might damage the marble table. Again, understandable. So we asked for a restaurant high chair and were told they had none left. At that point, my wife would have had to hold our 7-month-old throughout the entire meal. I calmly went to speak with the manager and explained that I understood it was a busy holiday, but asked if we could simply be moved to one of the open outdoor tables so we can at least enjoy the view while my wife holds him. His response was unbelievably rude and dismissive -- he told me to "go put him in a car seat." That was enough for us to decide to leave. As we were walking out, I told another waiting party they could take our table. Instead of trying to de-escalate the situation, the manager followed me outside and started yelling at me in front of other guests. He then slammed the door in my face and walked back inside acting tough in front of the host stand. He said "there are people dying out there and you're worried about a high chair". Like okay pal you work in a Restaurant tough guy. The entire experience was embarrassing, hostile, and incredibly unprofessional. I understand Mother's Day is busy, but having only a handful of high chairs in a massive restaurant and then treating customers like an inconvenience is unacceptable. Absolutely stunning restaurant on the water in Piermont. The vibes both inside and outside make you feel like you're on vacation in Greece, I loved it! The drinks here are very good, I highly recommend the rose sangria. We shared a couple of appetizers and my favorite was the phyllo sticks and dips. For our entrees we ordered different dishes including the sea bass, scallops, and steaks. The filet was very dry, I wanted medium and it was cooked well done. WOW! Trata did not disappoint, beautiful ambiance, energetic vibe, excellent service and great food! We've been to their other restaurant, Elia, which we enjoy and decided to take a ride to their new place. We had 8:30 reservations for a party of 6 and were taken on time. They have a few different rooms for dining, all looked beautiful. Food- apps- filet mignon bites, spreads, eggplant chips, grilled Octopus, calamari, special ceviche, and Brussel sprouts, tuna tartar. Can't go wrong with any of them. Dinner- halibut special and lamb. Live bongoes and violinist livened up the late night, some people were dancing near their tables. Great place to celebrate anything. We were there on a Saturday night and it's very loud. Everyone loved everything! read more

I have lotsss of things to say about Trata on the River but here's the abridged version. Fun vibes, good food, great drinks. Amazing view of the TZ Bridge. Here's the full review: I've been waiting on Trata on the River to open ever since I first found their new Instagram account. I knew it was the same owner of Elia in East Rutherford and I love their food. The menu at Trata is very similar to Elia's. Many of the same dishes but with minor differences. They even had the Elia leather-bound cocktail menu! Lol We had an 8:30pm reservation and we're seated close to the DJ booth. During the live entertainment around 8:45/9, it did get quite loud and hard to have a conversation but it only lasted for a short while. They also had a smoke machine so it made it a little hazy and got to be too much after a while. Our waiter, Daniel, was very nice and attentive. He was excellent! He put in our drinks right away while we decided on food. We ordered the Phyllo Feta Sticks and Grilled Octopus as apps. For dinner, two of us went with the Shrimp & Scallops while someone else had the Chilean Sea Bass. I found myself constantly comparing to Elia on everything. I will say though that the feta sticks were better at Trata than Elia. They had some kind of blueberry compote and chutney and it was so flavorful! However, Elia makes a better octopus. The shrimp & scallops meal was very good but the carrots were not cooked long enough, they were hard. We didn't order any desserts because we were full so got some espresso martinis to do the trick! Overall, I will say that Trata on the River is a step up for Rockland. It's almost too fancy for the area but Rockland county needs better restaurants. This space used to be Pier 701 and I had only ever gone there for the view. With this transformation, I can now say I would come back for the view along with way better food and dining experience! Ambiance was beautiful; however, we were a party of two and were seated next to what looked like a cashier station used by the waitstaff, which took away from the whole experience. The drinks were overly sweet and weak unless you ordered straight liquor on the rocks. The $70 skirt steak was mostly fat, and the fries were cold and soggy. 37 of us in a private room for lunch on a gorgeous day. Pretty much the entire review is 5/5, I will note where it isn't. 5/5 valet parking was key because the entire town has no parking and people park in the middle of the road, be careful driving there! No idea where the owner finds spots but they do. The deck is 5/5, what a perfect location. Friends of ours were tempted to drive their boat from Long Island to this event, you easily could dock and eat. The many, many apps our host ordered were spectacular, my favorite was the hummus and the octopus, but I always feel bad eating those little guys... Can't really think of any negatives, maybe the bathroom? The floor started to get sloppy towards the end, but that might be more of an us problem (free drinks for 37) and less of a restaurant problem. Owner came over and talked to us for a long time, I asked what the place was like before he arrived, would love a picture or two either in the bathroom or somewhere else just to fill in the mental picture of how much he transformed the place. Oh it has a DJ table ? Ok sounds like a fun place to visit at night and the two bars were very attractive. Great wine selection and ok beer selection (remember this is NJ) Overall 5/5 location better than the sister location in Rutherford and the food & service still maintains the quality of the other spot which is also 5/5 place. Always a fabulous time here. Unfortunately I can't speak on the food as yet because I've just gone for drinks with friends. The place is just beautiful. I really enjoy the decor and I tried some new cocktails. The pineapple martini was delicious and made by José who is stellar at mixing drinks. I also had a spicy tequila based martini which slapped pretty hard. I can already see for this venue will be one if my favorite haunts. I highly recommend. read more

Finally had a chance to try this beautiful new restaurant in Piermont, taking over the Pier 701 space. It's was amazing I actually returned 2 days later for lunch. The decor is gorgeous! Although it was too cold to sit outside the view is spectacular! Inside looks like a beachside cafe in Santorini! The octopus brass handles for the restrooms were a nice touch! The food is so delicious, my go to dish at a Greek restaurant is their grilled octopus which did not disappoint! The octopus was cooked to perfection melting in your mouth and it was paired perfectly with fava puree and peas and beans! The Greek corn fritters were scrumptious, crispy on the outside and the corn mix was slightly sweet and the spicy aioli sauce complimented it so well! The zucchini and eggplant chips were excellent! The shrimp cocktail was also very good. Service was excellent, attentive and friendly. The only surprise was that you have order everything at once, appetizers and entrees. If you only are having appetizers/tapas you have order everything together which is daunting if you are not sure how many plates will suffice! Wow!! This restaurant will blow you away!! Definitely had incredible experience. As soon as you walk in it's absolutely beautifully decorated ! This was previously Pier 701 and it was nice then but had been completely renovated. Our waiter AK was very informative of all the dishes and showed us the selection of the fresh fish you can choose for dinner. What a presentation!! The food was so delicious that my tastebuds were exploding with so much flavor. Great views of the Tappan Zee Bridge and the vibe just makes you feel so relaxed with an upbeat music. We came for dinner on Sunday night and it was worth it. We shared the brussel sprouts, tuna tartare and the fire grilled octopus, as appetizers; for the meal we had lobster macaronada, horiatiki w/shrimp salad, domestic lamb chops and the "special of the day" which was salmon and everything was delicious, we enjoyed our meals. Shocking Discrimination at Trata on the River - Piermont, NY We had heard good things about Trata on the River, so we made a reservation for two on Saturday, July 26 at 7 PM, driving all the way from Bronxville to Piermont just to try it. In our reservation, we clearly noted that we would be accompanied by a certified service dog. What happened next was unacceptable. At the door, a rude and uninformed manager told us flat-out we couldn't enter because of the dog. Even after showing our official service dog ID and explaining that the law protects access for all service dogs--not just for the blind--he arrogantly insisted, "I don't care. You're not coming in." The irony? Their own door sign says "Only Service Dogs Admitted." Ours was a certified service dog. We were humiliated and shocked. So we called 911. The officer who responded was kind and respectful, confirmed our rights under the ADA, and told us the restaurant was legally wrong. He even offered to walk us in, but by then, we no longer wanted to spend a single minute in that restaurant. We will be filing a formal complaint with the ADA and consulting our lawyer. In the meantime, we're making this public so no one else has to go through what we did. If you support disability rights, skip this place. If you believe in treating customers with dignity, this is NOT the place for you. read more

Visited 04/13/2025 Came here for aBIG birthday party for my sister. First of all, fantastic service! We had a party of 20 milling all around while we waited for everyone to arrive and all the staff was very patient. AK was our main server who did a great job. The restaurant itself if really quite impressive, completely renovated from the previous 701 on the Hudson. LOTS of room, with a huge covered pergola for warmer days than when we were there. The food overall was good... some dishes better than others, but that's pretty much 'the norm," don'tcha think? I had the skirt steak with roasted potatoes and while pretty good and done as I requested... nothing special. What was really good were the calamari. SO good! Still, the ambiance and elegance of this restaurant makes it worth the trip. read more
