They have limited food selections spread throughout the buffet area which is about half of what it used to be? Some were not very appealing to the eye.... I tried a rib which was mostly fat. Never been to a buffet that had signs telling you if you want your food warmer dip from the bottom of the pan? And the sushi looked like a trip to the ER waiting to happen. One of my Yelp! Buddies noted how much Golden Blossom has improved. So we decided to give it another try. And yes, it was better. But there's still plenty of room to improve. They've added some new items, like spare ribs, stuffed clams, & crawfish. No longer did they serve fried chicken wings, instead offering "buffalo" wings soaking in some sauce. I skipped them. My wife loved the new frog legs, although a tad on the salty side. Hot & sour soup is still some of the best you'll find. I appreciated the wontons in a separate steamer so you can add it to your soup. Overall, the buffet was fresh. Tasty. And a nice variety. But they really need to fix the steam tables. Not one dish was actually hot unless it just came from the kitchen. Now, an observation. Initially, we were going to opt for home delivery. Good heavens. Our $35 order came to almost $60 with all the GH add ons. At Golden Blossom our 2 buffets came to just under $35 with tip (and a senior discount). EZ call. read more

My brother and I met at GB for lunch at 1130. The buffet steam tables were so immaculately prepared. There were a couple people there already, but I was so impressed how everything was like brand new and inviting. Elaine and Daniela were so cheerful and accomadating. The food was SO good and the service was impeccable. I'm so glad my brother likes GB as much as I do. We visited just a couple weeks ago and agree GB is the best Chinese restaurant in Southern Indiana. I look forward to visiting again soon. My highlights on this visit were the salmon which is very tasty, crab Rangoon, spring rolls, stuffed mushrooms and chicken on a stick to name a few. Lastly, it wasn't long after my brother and I started at 1130 that MANY working people showed up and made for a good crowd. It wasn't too loud and the restaurant is noticeably CLEAN. I came about an hour before closing with two friends. The staff were very nice and offered to remake some of the food that had been sitting out because they had been slow that day. the food was pretty tasty for buffet food & my friends liked the boba. they also offered for us to take to-go boxes as we left because they were taking the food back. read more

My wife is not a big fan of buffet, but I enjoy them every once in a while. I have seen Golden Blossom Buffet pop up on yelp , multiple times, but I have not been in a position to be across the river to try it. Well, one Saturday I found myself on the right side of the river and remembered Golden Blossom Buiffet. I quickly headed over and was happy to get to try their offerings. I pulled into the parking a little later than I normally eat lunch, about 1:30. I walked in , was greeted by the friendly staff and shown my table. I placed my drink order and started looking over all the various foods they were presenting ... I tried my normal standbys, Hot and sour Sour Soup, General Taus chicken, Pepper Steak, etc... all very good. The Sushi choices were limited, but each of them full of flavor. I happily give them 5 starts because the food was tasty, and even at 2 on a Saturday when there were only a few patrons in the restaurant, they were replenishing or swapping out dishes. Went on Father's Day. The place was clean, they had a wide variety of food options to choose from. The food itself was a mix bag, some of it was really good, some of it was bland, and some of it was no good at all. The server was kind and attentive. Pricing was alright. I've tried this place twice since Rita sold it to her family member(s), and I promise I will never ever ever go back!! The food was terrible, the selections were old, like they'd been sitting out all day, the egg drop soup was watered down and burnt to the sides of the 1/3 of what was left pan. The sushi was lukewarm and disgusting, the string beans were old and overcooked, probably from being on the steam table since lunch. I came in on a Friday at 7:30 pm, you would think they would have everything fresh and ready for a busy dinner crowd, but nope. The spring rolls were rubbery, the fried shrimp was cold, the kimchi was just rancid, which is a shame because when Rita was there, it was always delicious and I ordered it all the time! My go-to was always egg drop soup, a spring roll, and some delicious kimchi, but nah....not anymore, and for the price, DEFINITE NO. They need to be retrained or trained if they hope to keep this place open. What a shame. read more

We've been searching for a Chinese Buffet that both of us like. Seems like the buffets I like, my wife isn't too crazy about, and vice versa. Today we finally found a Chinese Buffet we both really enjoyed. And another plus is the fact this restaurant isn't very far from our house. As I've stated in several of my reviews, I personally feel when rating a restaurant of any kind, you should rate according to their peer group. I don't go to a buffet expecting gourmet cuisine. As Chinese buffets go this one is definitely in the top tier. I would give them 4 1/2 stars if that was available. The restaurant is clean and the staff is super friendly. Lunch buffet on week days is $7.99. I started with one of my favorites, Hot and Sour soup. The soup was perfect IMO. A rich broth with just the right balance of spicy and sour. Big pieces of tofu and mushrooms. The General's Chicken was a little different than I've had at other restaurants, but still very good. I would have liked a little more spice in my General's Chicken. The vegetable fried rice had a lot of veggies and was better than average. The Schezuan Pork was very good. Crab Rangoon was excellent with a very creamy and tasty filling. The buffet also had what they called fried chicken legs, but was actually a combination of legs and thighs. I had a thigh which was pretty good, but I personally like wings which are on many buffets. Now the surprise. I've never seen Cheese Puffs on a Chinese Buffet. We were lucky enough to get them when they were fresh and hot. WOW! These little Puffs were like phyllo dough with a savory cheese filling. Actually, my wife tried them first and told me, "You've got to try the Cheese Puffs"! I will say once the Puffs started cooling they weren't quite as good as when they were hot and fresh. BUT they were still very good. I'm confident we've finally found our ' go to' Chinese Buffet. My family has become frequent visitors of Golden Blossom, because the fresh food, low price, and friendly service keeps drawing us in! Betty is the sweetest. She's been our waitress on multiple occasions, and is very quick to refill your drink or clear empty plates. Always with a friendly smile, and a reminder to get dessert. The buffet has a wide range of offerings, including sushi, soups, traditional American-Chinese fare, and all the fried appetizers. The hot and sour soup and spicy pork with vegetables are my go-to! The desert bar also has many options, and my favorite so far is the mocha coffee cake. I'm do not visit buffets (Grandpa wanted to go here and you can't say no to Grandpa), but the fresh food and cleanliness of Golden Blossom is the exception to my rule! read more

In July 2021 I came to dine in, very clean, new booths, new tables, clean floors, and the food was fresh and very well cooked. In fact I had to come back 2 days later with my wife. Exceptional quality, thank you to the owners for making it a nice place to eat again. I used to love Golden Blossom. They were close to my house, quick meal for when I didn't want to cook or couldn't decide what to eat. The last time I was here the food just wasn't very good anymore. The chicken on a stick is almost pathetic. There is only about 3 inches of meat on the stick, and they are normally dried out and old. If you love chicken on a stick- order from china taste at quartermasters court. The chicken broccoli was also older and very dry. I usually pour the extra sauce on my white rice, but not this night. I can go on and on about all the issues but I will just leave you with this- If you want Chinese buffet, choose Yummy Buffet across the street from Pizza King in Jeff. This place hosts one of the area's best hot buffet lines. Golden Blossom's noodle dumplings are a favorite, and they are held in a lidded steamer, like their white rice. Very tasty. One of their unique specialties, which I haven't seen at other Asian buffets is the panko-coated fried chicken filet. These light gems are the tenderest chicken you will ever taste. Look for it; ask for it if you don't see it. They have classic Chinese pork, beef and chicken dishes as well, done well, and worth a try. Their best dessert is a petite mocha torte with a caramelized glaze on top that is absolutely delicious. By the way, allow me to suggest that you ignore all the scratch-off and generic cigarette crowd that are always whining about buffets. It makes a nice lunch or dinner. Five stars. read more

Sometimes, you just really want some bad Chinese food, and by that, I mean like, you turn to your friend when you're bored and you say, "Hey, let's go to the mall and eat some Chinese food." Also, before I continue, there are a few five star reviews for this little place. For that, I am deeply disturbed and confused. I've never left a one star review, and it's rare for me, but...it's also earned. I am also not convinced that I just happened to peek in on an "off day" at this fine establishment. No, standards this low are met repeatedly, day after day. The food was lukewarm, almost cold, and wet. The meat was rubbery, and the place didn't look the cleanest. Even if it had been clean, foods that linger all on and below the temperature danger zone just evoke a huge, Simon Cowell "it's a no from me". Nothing was actually prepared, it just seemed prefrozen, and then unthawed. The fried rice, for example...the most basic, delicious, and staple-like food at a Chinese buffet, was just awful. It also wasn't fried, and I briefly thought they didn't know how to make it, but then realized the directions to "fry" the rice is in the name, for God's sake. It was some packaged yellow rice, with some frozen vegetables, sat out to unthaw, and not seasoned at all. Oh, also definitely not fried. It was bland, as you can imagine, and I really wish I was exaggerating or making this up. The one positive thing I can say, for this, is at least it wasn't too salty... The lo mein* was similar to this (*also, go ahead and fill in the blank here for any food you might possibly order at a Chinese buffet, and you'll get the same description from me). I had been to the buffet well over a year ago and it was okay, but I decided to try their carry out last night. I found some pics of their menu on their Facebook page. We got the War Su Gai combo which came with chicken fried rice and an egg roll, Shrimp fried rice, Wonton soup, Hot and sour soup and Crab Rangoon. It was ready when quoted, the price was reasonable, the helpings were huge, it was piping hot, the service was very friendly and it was very tasty. I live nearby and it's the closest Chinese-American restaurant to me. When the buffet is fresh the food is great, but like any buffet during off hours it can get a bit bad. My favorite is the Mongolian Pork, Wonton soup and Black Pepper chicken. My biggest complain is the egg rolls don't have any meat, which may or may not be a problem for some people. I will say, if you sit down and order off the menu the place is 10 times better. Things are cooked to order and fried foods like egg rolls come out hot and crisp. Their Mongolian beef is spicy hot and my wife likes their Sesame chicken. Their prices are reasonable and one person can eat for under $10 assuming you only get water.
