This restaurant does not serve authentic Chinese food. Everything that I ordered tastes sweet which is awful.

Quality Chinese food. Can't beat the prices for the lunch specials. $6 for a combo platter and a drink or soup. Fast service too

My friends and I went out for dinner to catch up and shoot the breeze. The owner of the restaurant,…read morea very young lady was pleasant and very attentive to us. She served us our appetizers and meals. The food was delicious and served piping hot! The portions were plentiful and even when we packed our food to go, the food was still hot. The next time we are the area, we will definitely dine there again. The service and the food are fantastic!!

About 2 minutes later, I went to the counter again to order pork lo mein and wonton soup. The staff member was visibly irritated and rudely said, "You have to tell us. You didn't say anything and now the dumplings are almost done." It felt unnecessary, considering I hadn't finalized my order and told them I would take another look at the menu. Food wise: The pork lomein was a bland and both the noodles and pork were a bit dry. The pork tasted off in addition to the poor texture. I wouldn't order it again. On the other hand, the wonton soup was delicious with deep flavor in the broth. Best wonton soup I've had from a casual restaurant. It was hot, flavorful, and not oily. The wontons were good as well. The filling had good flavor and the wrapper was a nice texture. The restaurant itself was calm and dim with a decent amount of seating available inside.

I set out wanting nothing more than *passable* "Chinese food". I ordered general tso's chicken and…read moreseveral other things for my family, including moo shu pork. Everything arrived quickly and was hot. The General Tso's chicken is indeed passable, exactly as I had hoped. The only problem is that the pancakes for the moo shu pork is a traditional Chinese dish from Shandong, typically made with sliced pork, scramb are covered in mold. I took a picture in case I needed to post it but I don't see a way to do that here for this review (this is my first Yelp review). In any case, expect a non-exceptional chinese-food experience and you won't be disappointed. I just hope it's safe to eat, given the moldy pancakes... I don't fault them for it *that* much, considering the pancakes are not made by them anyway and that they were probably sitting there rolled up in plastic wrap waiting for someone to order moo shu, for who knows how long.

There was more hair in my shrimp roll than shrimp and brown cabbage. no condiments whatsoever not like it would remedy the meal anyway. wonton soup was so oily and beyond disgusting that I put it outside because I couldn't fathom it being in my home. crab Rangoon's (2 orders) tasted like someone ripped them out the freezer cooked them in the sun for 4 days and then packaged them with disdain. white rice was two days old at best and sweet and sour chicken was flavorless but possibly the only edible part of the meal that I still chose not to consume. I never write bad reviews but my god avoid this place like the plague.

Food: I ordered shrimp rolls and they were big and tasty. Wider than I've seen from an American Chinese restaurant. Bottom line: I would order from here again if I'm ever in the area.

So, I try to find that place that could rank amongst my favorite spots and Great Wall Kitchen in Raritan is a worthy addition. I've eaten there now 4 times and the rich flavors and great ingredients have all been the best. I've tried Egg Rolls (I'm very critical of egg rolls in new places. It's a test food), 9/10, the best. Lo Meins perfect (probably tried 3-4 in pints to try different flavors), Moo Shu's all delicious and plenty. Gen Tso's chicken is a bit sweet for me so I mixed it into the brown rice instead of on top. Beef & Broc delicious. Back story, when I lived in Hoboken, the Asian places all started tasting identical and I figured they all have the same distributor. Then Chendu1 opened in Jersey City and both their American-Chinese menu and their traditional Szechuan menu were compatible to Flushing. I never ordered from the other places after they opened. Now that I'm in Raritan, Great Wall Kitchen is that place.
