The order I recently got from Great Wall could turn you off to Chinese food. Roast pork egg roll had no sign of pork and was just shredded cabbage. The anemic barely fried rice was tasteless and again, no usual pork or egg. The chicken dish was chewy and grisly...no white meat just scraps from the thigh. Made a huge mistake; instead of going to Fortune Cookies, in Raritan, I ordered takeout from Great Wall in Flemington. The dumplings were sodden, the string beans were sugary and the pork in garlic sauce was inedible. I threw all of it away, and, since I am diabetic and had given myself an insulin bolus, had to shovel in some high carbohydrate potato chips to compensate. I enjoyed the incredible wonton soup with lean cuts of roast pork and the spring rolls which were fried perfectly and not greasy at all We ordered General Tsos chicken and Orange shrimp for entrees. Both dishes were large pieces of meat, fried to perfection. There was a little too much sauce but, the large cuts of the chicken and shrimp more than made up for it. It's been very hard to get great Chinese in this area, and even though it's a standard menu, it's prepared perfectly and that's hard to do. My order was delivered promptly. It wasn't correct but it was here spot on time. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with vegetable rice, fried shrimp appetizer, and vegetable soup. The soup was left off and on it's place there was a vegetable lo mein. The chicken had a lot of crisp breading. Several pieces were mostly breading. The vegetable rice was nearly flavorless. The order didn't come with any plastic ware (even tho being delivered to a hotel room) so it's good that I had packed my spoon. For the chicken, I used my fingers. Thank goodness for the hand towels. The chicken was so greasy! My fingers were covered in oil. That likely explains my upset stomach now. I don't come to the area often, but safe to say that on future trips I'll go elsewhere. This is one of few very Chinese restaurants open in the area right now, and it's not worth it. We got the sweet and sour chicken combo and the rice was soggy and unseasoned. The chicken felt saturated in oil and was squishy. For $10.50, we were less than satisfied. My mom had chicken fried rice and asked for no vegetables , it even said it on the receipt, and yet there were vegetables. At $6.50 for a pint, it was way over priced. To feed our family of 3 it came to $39.50, and we felt very unsatisfied. Needless to say, we will have to wait for our local favorites to open back up! read more

Called in today to order take out and was told since my order was under 10.00 that they were going to tack on another 1.00. I told them to add an eggroll. So for egg foo young lunch special and egg roll was 11.20 with tax. When I went to pick up the order it was on a table so you couldn't go inside,I said to the employees "Why are you ripping people off during a crisis, you should be trying to help people out not overcharging." They looked at each other(3 of them) and 2 of them looked confused and said what do you mean, and the other man said "Oh, oh, I'll take it off. So, as you see, he just tacked on a dollar thinking no one would know. I know it was only a dollar but that's not the point. It is wrong. Price gauging is a crime and they should be reported. I am super disappointed in this establishment. We just ordered for delivery and the portions were absolutely tiny. They told us it would take 90 minutes for delivery the food was here in 15 minutes. Our staple Chinese place...it is always good and fresh. It does have a combo of Thai and Chinese, with spices being right on. My daughter always orders the egg drop soup and pad thai and she loves it. The general tsao chicken is the best in the area and I absolutely love the green curry vegetable dish. Best Chinese take out in the area. Its a standard menu and you know what you are getting. Its tough to set yourself apart as a Chinese take out place though and these guys do in 2 ways. First, no matter when I call or what I order its always ready in 10 minutes. Second, and this is the really important one, the sauces they use, particularly the one for the dumplings, are a cut above their competitors. Great job on the secret sauces. Food is ok. I stopped in here for lunch with a co-worker. We both had lunch specials. His the General Tso I had Veggi Lo Mein. I thought the LoMein was pretty good. Thought the taste was good and I thought it was cooked the way most LoMein is. It was served with some fried rice - which I thought was very dry. Not cooked the way fried rice usually is or turns out. Served with wonton soup, which I enjoyed. Flavor was on point. I also order the egg role which the server ended up getting a phone call and forgetting about. When I reminded him it was way over cooked. My co-worker said he wouldn't get the Generals again. He thought it didn't taste good. From the stand point of the food I think most Chinese places are close. But I think where they set themselves apart is from the cleanliness and the level of friendliness they have. I don't think this place is all that clean... We had to move tables because ours felt like someone ate at ours and it was never wiped down. Two Stars is a more then fair rating. read more
