Place is always clean. Staff neither friendly nor unfriendly. I typically get the catfish. The rolls they serve are outstanding, as is their gravy. Mashed potatoes not made from scratch of course but really not bad for delivering the gravy. read more

4 piece combo 8 piece poppers $18.38 I stopped here because my uncle had be raving about the roasted chicken. After three days of it, I decided to stop today. When I walked in I was overwhelmed with the many menu items. Every part of a chicken is available. I let the cashier know that this was my first visit and she helped me out with a few combo choices. I ended up ordering a 4 piece, roasted and fried and then added an order of poppers. I was given a number which I immediately knew came with a wait time but i was okay with that. While waiting two employees come in from outside. One of them was holding a copy of a marquee. They walk to the back of the store and then came to the front of the restaurant. All of a sudden the male employee jumps up on the counter to started making changes to the menu. The area he is standing on at the counter is where you pick up your order. Yea your order will be bagged or on a tray and never touch the counter, but this makes everything else questionable. Before I could ask for the manager, she walks up front and supervises the changes being made to the menu board. I then figure this was a normal here and just took my food once my number was called. I started eating the poppers I ordered but thought more of the guy on the counter and didn't eat the rest of my order. The poppers were great but I won't come back to this establishment. read more

I went back again to give it another try after the awful experience I had a few months back. Well...it was a mistake! Carolyn the manager evening manager on the weekends is the worst at representing your restaurant. Who is actually the one in charge of hiring her? After so many complaints on Google I've seen in the past she is still there, with the worst customer service possible. Rude, and aggressive when I called up there because she forgot my side. She ended hanging up on me and acted like if it was my fault! Never again. Until she's gone we will not be back to this location. read more

The food at this Golden Chick is typically decent. Nothing extraordinary except for one case where the fried okra was perfect with excellent flavor. They are not always accurate in orders, but what fast food restaurant is. They hit it 95% of the time. The tenders are always good and they use the "softer" ice in their drinks. read more

I had a terrible experience while trying to pick up a mobile order at the Golden Chick Location in Abilene, TX on North 1st Street on 06/08/2023 around 06:21 PM. I went to the Golden Chick in Abilene, TX located on North 1st Street to pick up a mobile order my mother had placed for a family meal set for pickup at 6:15pm. I got off of work a little late and didn't arrive at the restaurant until 6:21pm. When I got there I told them I was picking up a mobile order. They had the receipt printed out, but the order was not ready. We have been told during previous visits that family orders are made to order, but when I arrived there at 6:21 the order had not started yet. They started gathering the chicken tenders, fries, rolls, etc. , but all the items we had ordered were not even warm and were room temperature. The coleslaw that was ordered and we were given had expired and all of the employees were using their bare hands to handle the food. I saw an employee use his bare hands to lift up a bun on a sandwich to add sauce they had forgotten to add to it for a drive-thru order. If I am going to place a mobile order around 5:30pm and have a pick up time of 6:15pm I expect everything to be ready by the time of 6:21 pm. This location is always having some kind of issues like this while the south side location never has hiccups like this. My family and I have decided to just use the extra gas to go to the southside location from now on because they don't serve stale, cold, and expired food and they always have the order ready to go on time. I am extremely disappointed with how this visit at this location ended. I sent a corporate complaint to the golden chick corporate email the day this happened, but they never got back to me, so just thought I'd share the entire experience on Yelp. I think I'll just avoid golden chick all together since I've yet to get any kind of response. read more

Opps I Done It Again! Last night was KEAN's 29th Annual Cruise Night in Abilene Texas. I tossed a leg over the HOG to strut my stuff (a black Harley Davidson motorcycle) for all of Abilene Texas to see. After several trips up and down North 1st Street I pulled into a place to watch the bikes, hotrods cruise. You guessed it Golden Chick.... After about 30 or 40 minutes of watching the parade of cars I went in ordered the 2 piece chicken, mac & cheese, and a drink. Not the best fried chicken in town. It's just OK. The Staff must have been enjoying the autos too because the sweet tea was EMPTY! The experience is what I expected it to be very average. Will I go again; most likely......I mean they are all over town so I must be missing the attraction. read more

I came to see my friend who is the cook and got some food and i have no complaints. The store looks and feels clean you can feel a bery friendly vibe as you walk in the door. Workers are very Polite and respectful. The tenders were Hot, fresh and great tasting. The rolls were Perefectly cooked and beautifully golden. Always have to wait for food, they will tell you 10 minutes and then 30 minutes later you are still waiting, only to get the tenders home and they literally had no flavor what so ever.
