This order from Golden Chick was borderline inedible. The chicken tenders were so tough and rubbery that I needed a knife to cut them, and several pieces were still pink in the middle. That's unacceptable. The fries, roll, and okra arrived completely soggy and gross. The gravy was the only edible part of the meal. For the prices GrubHub charges after fees and tips, food quality like this is ridiculous. FIRST TIME VISIT! THE LOCATION: located off Potranco Rd. and the 1604, this store is just outside the "loop". It shares a shopping center with other businesses like Jack in the Box, Wing Street, Planet Fitness and more. Finding parking is not an issue. THE SERVICE & MENU: This store has a drive thru and when I arrived, I was the only person in line. Woohoo! A male voice popped on to the speaker box immediately and was very professional throughout our transaction. I ordered a 2 piece roasted chicken (thigh and wing) that came with a side (I chose dirty rice), roll and drink. Note that I do not see chicken drumsticks on the menu. They serve Pepsi products! They also have a raspberry iced tea and root beer. Yum! I roll up to the second window and the female cashier is very sweet. She is extra patient as I fiddle with exact change to pay. THE FOOD: I get home and unpack my bag. The chicken pieces are small, but there are a bounty of spices on the roasted chicken. Chicken pieces are juicy and seasoned well. The dinner roll is slightly sweet and warm. The showstopper today is the dirty rice. I am pleasantly surprised! Not dried out, flavorful and SPICY. Do not serve to small children. Well, maybe to the ones with a potty mouth, but seriously, I enjoyed it a lot. Give that a try! The food was also neatly packed in a completely compartmented tray where a mess is less likely to occur. Interested in going back to sample the fried chicken. OVERALL: pretty happy with my meal. This was our first time visiting here, and I'm glad we did. The fried chicken was crispy and fresh , even better with the spicy seasoning packets . The tenders and the fried fish were good as well. The service at the drive thru was excellent and friendly, and our large order was correct when we got home. I say I need artificial sweetener for the tea she said what is that? I say spenda or equal. She says I have to ask I dont know what that is. Then I say the pink or yellow packets. Today is my sister's birthday and she wanted to try Golden Chick for the first time. I spent $90 for all of us to have an early dinner and it was well worth it. Not only was the large order ready when I arrived, but it was mostly correct (forgot a small fry with the 3 piece spicy chicken tender meal) but there were so many ties with one of the other meals so sharing was not an issue. The girl that filled the order worked quickly and effectively so I want to give a personal shout out because it was not an easy order. I will always go back to that particular Golden Chick and recommend everyone else give it a try...or another try if you already have. A first time customer at this location and sadly disappointed. I did an online order for the nine piece s and legs half and half roasted and fried. I added a family size fries and family size mac and cheese and 12 rolls. I arrived a couple of minutes after the instructed pickup time and still had to wait somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes in their parking lot for them to bring it to me. I should have checked it before I left but I didn't. The chicken was fine but there was no mac and cheese and only a handful of french fries. I didn't go back for them to make it good as it was pouring down rain and it takes me about 20 minutes to get there. I called to see if they would take that portion off of my bill and of course they would not. Fast food places need to double and triple check their orders before sending them out the door! I love fried chicken...my husband not so much but he happened to stop Golden chick on afternoon and he loved it. We went there for dinner on Monday night. I was very pleasantly surprised with their fresh, huge, juicy and delicious fried chicken. Plus their hot, lightly butter rolls were soooo good! Definitely, the best compared to Bill Miller's, Church's and Popeye! The cherry on the top is their friendly service. The young guy that took our order was very attentive even brought us an extra drum stick. He said because the one they had given us was supposedly sitting under the hot lightd for a few minutes (which was still hot and so good) and the one he brought us was fresh. 9-25-2018 (Lunch). Decent place to eat. Had the chicken strips and they were good. Price was excellent and the cashier was knowledgeable and courteous. Ordered the large Okra but wanted hot and fresh. No problem as she immediately called to the back to put a large Okra down. Only problem encountered was that she called out my number when the food was ready for pick up but she didn't use the microphone. With all the noise going on, we didn't hear our number called until I looked up and saw her wave at me. My order was supposed to be picked up at 6:55 p.m., they gave me no indication on how I'm supposed to pick up my food because I ordered pickup so I proceeded to call the store and they told me to come inside. I waited at the door as the employees just watch me stand at the door and nobody let me in. I had to wait for another Uber eat or some type of driver to go and leave the store so I can get into the store myself. So I went back up got the New order, and at first glance everything looked to be there. I get back home to realize that they only gave me half of my order again and the food that was supposed to be fresh was just thrown in there and hold. At this point very angry I called back. I called the facility again letting them know that they messed up my order again for them to tell me that I ordered something else and I had to give my confirmation so I asked for a refund and they told me that unless I came back up for the third time that I would be unable to get my refund but could come back at a later date to get an order like the one I originally ordered. The employee told me that this was directly from the district manager's mouth so I asked what happens if I don't come up tonight she told me to put the chicken in my refrigerator and then I can bring it up at a later date that suited me. I have never especially since covid seen a place take food back that already been contaminated if you will from another person's order so I hope whomever got the chicken we were already ordered that they don't get sick. And now my third trip back just to get my refund they told me to bring the order so I hope that they don't turn around and just resell this to any other customer. I do not know or understand why the district manager would have me come all the way back up to the facility to get a refund when it wasn't my mess up. Mind you $50 in the economy now is a lot and the fact that this is my third trip up to the facility because they did not get the order correct twice is absolutely ridiculous. I do not know what's going on in this facility, I thought this would be a good experience and a new place that I would like to potentially keep as a good family night dinner but after this service I will never, and I mean never with a capital N go back to this facility ever again.
