The Golden Chick in Van Alstyne is without a doubt the slowest and least accurate place ever. Placed our order, which we had to repeat it six times and was then asked to pull around and park. Almost 30 mins later, we still didn't have our order, although 3 cars that came after us had already left. Took the receipt inside and was treated like we had 3 heads and were told we'd have to wait for them to drop the chicken. Please don't waste your time or money here. read more

I knew as soon as I ordered that this was going to happen. I have seen it before. The order taker did not repeat the order back to me. The screen beside the order microphone did not show my order at all. And when I got to the window and asked for the order to be repeated back to me, surprise, surprise, the order was not accurate. The order taker did not mention that my drink should not have ice, like I ordered. He missed the extra gravy like I ordered. He missed the fries should be extra crispy like I ordered. After he remade my drink (this time without ice), and after he reassured me that they would get the extra crispy fries and extra gravy, he handed us the order and we went home. My fries were not extra crispy and the extra gravy was missing. I would strongly advise that you check every thing and make sure they supply it exactly like you ordered. Ever have one of those nights where take-out seems like a good option? Judgement call gone wrong, two bites into my Golden Check meal and I knew I should have eaten that can of Dinty Moore stew. I could have swore that when you 'stand-up' a plastic spoon in mashed potatoes, that it would remain upright. My spoon sank faster than Jack in Titanic, and with that said I do not recommend the mashed potato soup. Almost all of the 12-piece meal combo was forgettable, except for one thing - the $43 sticker price. For $43, I could have carved out a large slab of wood and saved poor old Jack's ass. read more

The staff is rude and has gotten my order wrong every time we go. This particular time tonight really drew then line though. One of the female workers put way to much zing powder on the chicken and then told us that we could just "shake it off" and it doesn't even come off when you shake it, she also gave us burnt rolls. Some were so hard they were like rocks, and then also didn't even give us the mashed potatoes or the chicken gravy like we had ordered but we didn't notice till we got him because they put the sides under the rolls in the bag. We tried to call several times to tell them they forgot part of our order and there was not one call answered. I have never seen such horrible service in my life. I do believe this will be my last time. First of all they left out our rolls for the 3rd time in a row. We ordered the 10 piece thighs and fries. The chicken was so stringy and tough it was not edible. The French fries were stone cold. When we ordered our chicken we had to wait about 20 minutes for them to cook it. My guess is the fries sat there in the sack and waited on the chicken too because they were not even warm. I called to let them know and no one ever answered the phone. The workers inside won't tell you why but they just look at you like your nuts. They have a sign that says their headphones don't work and they can't take anything larger than a $20. I just drove through any purchase the 30 piece mixed with two family sides. The corn nugget family side is $2.00 more than the other sides (not the case at chicken express in Anna). But this is the best part. I was packed up with four legs and four wings. That's the mixed family meal. Not in 40 years of ordering take out chicken have I seen an 8 piece mixed with just legs and wings. Every other place puts two breasts, two thighs, two legs, two wings. Technically I got what I paid for. To complete the review let's talk about the over browned breading and overdone meat. Pieces so small they make KFC pieces look large. Worst drive thru experience ever. Spent over $50 on a family meal and some extra sides. Very rude drive thru employee. Asked to add a half dozen rolls at the window and was told they can't sell rolls by themselves. That's a first. When we got home, the half dozen rolls that came with the family meal were wadded and smashed into a ball. Napkins also looked like they were already used and also wadded into a ball. Stopped by here on the way to Sherman! I had the same problem as all the other reviews. They got our order wrong. Also, even while we were ordering, the cashier seemed to have an attitude. Then, when we got to the window, she forgot to give us our drinks and I ended up having to walk back inside to get them. *sigh* BUT, the food was actually good. This location is ridiculous! Drive thru takes 5-8 minutes per car to take the order. You sit there and wait for the person to be "ready" to take the next order. Then when you get to the window & give them your money they tell you to go park in the parking lot and they will come find you when your food is ready. I get the food and drive home and then there are no sides in the bag. I had ordered the coleslaw but the girl told me that i did not want that because it tasted like vinager and everyone was complaining. I called back and advised i did not receive my sides, took the time and drove back and it took 25 minutes to get the 2 order of fries they had failed to put in the bag. I go to this Golden Chick because I get the best customer service here than the other Golden Chick restaurants in the area. I love their catfish. They always put the catfish in to fry when you order it. So its fresh!! You have to wait for it, but it is worth it! The two older ladies working both front and back give this restaurant a family-owned quality where they care about what kind of service you get. The chicken is a million times better than Chicken Express (we actually had chicken express the day before Golden chick opened) & the difference was mouth watering! We've been probably too many times because between the sweet tea, chicken strips, chicken salad sandwiches & mix of roasted & fried it's delicious! What's the point in driving further to get dried or decent chicken in Anna when this deliciousness is in our back yard.
