Lived in whitesboro for 4 years and have tried to come to the golden chick in multiple times. Everytime I have an issue with the stuff I want they don't have or it's not prepped. I have even ordered online before and get here 20 to 30 min after I order like it says to give them time and I still sit in the dining area no less than 30 minutes waiting for my food to be made. My son ordered from Golden Chick when I was visiting him in Whitesboro. He got grilled chicken for me because at the time I was eating gluten free and couldn't eat the fried chicken. I had the roasted chicken with a side salad and green beans. It was very good. I have since begun eating the carnivore way and I notice there are a couple of Golden Chick places near me in McKinney, I will have to give them a try. Pretty sure this was my first time ever eating at one of these, but here we are. First off, the girl who helped me was late teens/early 20s, and she had nails that looked straight out of a Cardi B anthem. Perfectly done, 10/10. She was so nice and even complimented my fit -- instant serotonin boost, thank you queen. We like the catfish and the dark meat Chicken when they change their grease they go too long sometime especially seems like they over cook tenders. My experience with them is a little limited, I've had their rolls with honey quite a few times (ok, dozens, I need carbs after horseback rides) and a few fries sneaked off my grandpa's orders. I've not had more than a few bites of the chick that gives Golden Chick its name. It's me, not them. As I've gotten older I've realized I don't really like fried chicken unless its pan fried, like my grandma used to make, but my grandpa loves it after long days at his quarter horse ranch so it must have some stick to your ribs quality. However, the chicken it's...just not very good - flabby skin beneath an underseasoned crust, white meat cooked till its Sahara dry and dark meat that's slimy. The yeast rolls are good for fast food. They make for a quick and totally unhealthy brunch. It can actually be hard to mess up rolls, and I have no doubt they use a frozen product. But they're warm, smell fantastic and have that perfect combo of slight crunch and fluffy interior. The staff is almost 100% teenagers and all the sturm und drang (and giggling) that entails being 16 in a North Texas spot on the map. But they're friendly because Texas. The only thing that puts me off of Golden Chick is the dead junebugs, dear god, the junebugs. Walking into the entrance is like walking over very large brown Rice Krispies. Snap! Crackle! Pop!. Kinda gross if you're wearing sandals. But if you need a quick pick me up to get you to Dallas or Oklahoma City, Golden Chick isn't a bad option. read more

We visited for an early lunch on Sunday, shortly before noon. My husband ordered the Southern Fried Fish and I ordered the Golden Roasted Chicken. He had a side of fries and I ordered a side salad and we had a family size order of fried okra. My husband's fish was hot and fresh. His fries were well seasoned but weren't as hot or fresh as the fish. My Golden Roasted chicken was a breast and a wing. For roasted chicken, it was extremely greasy. It also tasted salty. I looked up the nutritional information online and was shocked that it had about 50% MORE sodium than the fried chicken. At more than 1400mg of sodium for a single roasted chicken breast, what appears to be a "healthier alternative", truly isn't. The dining room was clean. The drink station could have used a quick wipe down. However, the floor was slick and an absolute hazard. It appears that they mop their dining room with the same mop that they use for the kitchen area, because even in tennis shoes, if you aren't paying attention, you could easily slip. The food, on the whole was a good value. The staff could use some additional training. It appeared that mostly teenagers were working during our visit. They were on their cell phones, rubbing their faces and eyes and on the large, obviously not happy about being at work. For the first time, in a long time, during the entire 30-40 minutes we were there, they didn't pass through the dining room to offer fresh rolls. We will return, because the improvements needed are small and my family enjoys the food. However, I will research the menu thoroughly before our next visit to make a healthier choice and hope to see some smiling faces on our next visit. read more

9/3/22 Went to Whitesboro, TX location. Ordered the new Wicked wings (6 & 9 pieces) plus three piece golden roasted chicken. Was told it would be a ten minute wait for the wings. I said ok because that's the entire reason why we went there to get food. Pull up and pay at 5:29 pm. Was asked to pull to the front of the building and wait so they could service the vehicle behind me. Finally, at 5:45pm a lady brings our food out without any acknowledgement about the long wait. I leave and drive to the town I live in about 10 minutes away. Once inside my home I open the containers of food to find out the nine piece wicked wing only had eight wings. That really upsets me after the experience of waiting I had already had at Golden Chick. I call the establishment. A lady answers. I tell her about my order, the long wait, and the discrepancy in my order. She says "I'm sorry" and just sits there in silence. I respond that's it? She replies well the next time you come here we can refund your money. I say I'm not looking for anything for free as I'm not that type of person. I say I only want what I paid for. She offers to take my name so I can get one wing next time I go there. I could tell by her voice and attitude that she wasn't sorry, and didn't care about my unhappiness.
